Sorry. I didn't mean to insult those type of people (nothing against them at all). I don't use the dictionary. I have my own definitions for certain words I use for people that are just plain annoying and stupid.

Maybe I should have use the word 'retard' instead. To me it means a person acting stupid that should know better. I don't use certain words to insult the people who are the definition of them. That wouldn't be right.

Then again if I did call Fancy a retard, there probably would have been someone else moaning about how their momma was hit by a bus and hasn't been the same since.

What does this mean for us? For you? For me? For my goat?
    ..
    Goat?

Belay that! I have news of importance! Yes, news, it is why you're reading still isn't it? No? You like me? Really? I did not prepare for this, I mean I'm blushing. No time to bewitch the Bard who sings now the praise that has come from this dark place. A source inside the source has spoken out yet asked to remain anonymous but fear not for I can give you my truth and word that this is quite credible but the decisions are not to fall on just NCSoft alone. Instead, the source explains that there truly ARE legal repercussions at the moment that are being dealt with behind the scenes and there is rumor that a possible ditch effort has been done so not to lose anymore money from quoted, '' current profitable projects currently in popular demand. '' This has also been backed by another source, a publisher, for a magazine I have inquired with. So what does this mean?

Well, now for the end yet meatiest morsel you can chew. There is, as the source says, a possibility that once CoH shuts down completely without further action by any Staff then the game IP can be sold at the lowest bid given that all legal ties are severed by its shut down. This also will take care of any >PARTNERS< who may have financial control or gain over the game to be severed as well for they will no longer receive or invest in a dead project. All contracts (unless elongated behind closed doors before the shut down occurred) will by law be no more and as the source explains NCsoft can freely move to do with the IP as they like. Without any attachments on the IP there is a high possibility, if it does sell, that the price will be reduced substantially for their interest in the game and title in and of itself is mostly depleted except by enthusiasts who are on their last leg in the company, sad to report, or are ready to retire. A lot of effort from next generation studios are now being bought into as the era of old games are being left as they were without any care for what is coming next, the source boasted, will more than likely sway customers in swaths as the new technology implemented will take gaming to and beyond the next level. What does this mean for us, Good Team? I haven't the slightest.

Finally we have come to the end of news for there is none left to sing. I have done the best I could from the moment I arrived and will do what I can until the last sun sets. You truly are all Heroes, and this is what you inspired me to do.

    Forever a song,

You know what's annoying? When I get a phone call at home and the caller I.D. shows a number I don't recognize. So I let the answering machine pick it up and wait to see who it is but they don't leave a message. I always think to myself "If it were important, they would have said something".

What I saw as interesting is the massive sale revenue increases not only for ArenaNet but NC Interactive and NC Europe. Since Blade & Soul isn't out in NA or Europe yet this tells me some reason NC Interactive and NC Europe gets some kind of cut of the sales for GW2 (perhaps box sales in those regions and ArenaNet gets direct purchase sales?). Maybe NC Interactive and NC Europe acts as ArenaNet's publisher for those regions, who knows.

Also ArenaNet's P/L is actually a loss now that the game is out? Say what? Does this represent paying off development cost "loans" from daddy? We'll never know because the subsidiaries are "black boxes" that we only see sales in and profit/loss out. No idea how the money is spent.

Sadly but somewhat expected, CoH is no longer broken out in the game sales graphs or charts but is now lumped with "other" (so is GW1 BTW). B&S is broken out of "other" for 2Q which wasn't the case at the time. It only came out a week or two before the end of the quarter which is why it went from 2,582 in 2Q to 32,662 in 3Q. The interesting number about sales is that GW2 was the game with the largest sales revenue in 3Q beating all their mainstays. It also looks like B&S ate into Aion, L1 and L2 sales.

Also NCSoft's Korean sales revenues were actually down quarter to quarter and it was the big bounce in NA and Europe, likely due to GW2, which saved their bacon. The question now is what happens to GW2 sale numbers in 4Q? Do they plummet because the majority who were looking to buy the game already have. Does the holiday season hide the dropoff until 1Q next year. How soon until the first paid expansion due out? GW1 had a fairly spikey set of sales numbers as they release expansions and once they were done with that their sales quickly dropped off.

Will B&S continue to cannibalize sales numbers of NCSoft's older games or will it grow on it's own the way Aion originally did in it's first few quarters? As it stands right now I can't see NCSoft hitting either their 1 or 1.2 Trillion KrW sales targets they listed in their late 2010 and 2011 investor reports respectively. They don't even have 500 billion in sales after three quarters. They may hit 700-750 if the holidays are kind or B&S is released outside of Korea by then (likely in the other Asian markets) and is wildly successful.
2 words. Cash. Shop. The box sales may dwindle on GW2 but depending on what they sell in their cash shop, that will more than make up for it.

GW1 had an in-game store, with the items being the same pretty much on the NC Soft store website, that were all pretty much a 1 time account unlock purchase. The only items you could purchase multiple times were character rename tokens and makeover kits to change your character appearance and/or gender. With GW2, I'm sure they have consumable items that players can purchase multiple times, which keeps revenue coming in. XP boosters and such.

Even if the game wasn't shutting down, episode 4 of SSA volume 2 would have been released in September anyway. I think what Alpha Wolf is saying is that part 4 is going to be released to the live severs this month. Of course since premiums can't buy it, it will only be available to VIP players. It's possible the process of switching the SSA from beta to live is automated as per a release schedule.

  15. My subscription was suppose to end yesterday. I still have full posting privileges on the forums and nothing has changed in the game. So far it looks like it may be true: if your account was subscribed on August 31 when the Paragon Studios was shut down and set to expire before November 30, you keep your VIP status.

I have seen others on the forums saying the same thing about not losing their subs after the announcement. So I don't know what's going on.
  16. I was bored so I typed up a lyrical parody of a Your Favorite Martian song (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BPL0Z3381Xo) and put it to the tune of CoH. I hope I can bring some laughs in all this.

NC Soft left us. Oh no! We broke up. It's been a while since we last spoke but..........The gamers need another chance. Can they give us that? 'Cause we got a petition that will win you back.

WE.......want to be your gamers again. But you left us like we were Jennifer Aniston. And you said you washed your hands of us. But we won't stop this bus.

Our community is so big, don't get us started. How big are they? We're so big we'll be really obnoxious, it will be like we shoved two Rikti down your boxers.

We're so big you can't hold us back. Even Cartman's like "man that is fat". Our petition is so big. It'll run over your feet. That's why when it arrives on your desk you'll hear a 'beep beep'.

And how can we be subtle with all the years spent chasing Circle of Thorns through the tunnels? And other gamers keep telling me "Champions Online looks at you with jealousy".

In fact, when you see us on the street we'll fight Maelstrom to the death in the sequel. I guess soon you'll be hoping we're back. Our community is so big it's got an opening act.

Paragon Studios is so epic, but I aint boasting, but they have an effect on the tides in the ocean. And when the sun's right it might cause a total eclipse without flaws.

And this game is where it's happening. And when when our petition arrives you'll take us back again. Should I compare us to a brontosaurus? No, excuse me I'm on the chorus.

    WE......got what you need.
And you said you washed your hands of us.
But we won't stop this bus.

WE.......want to be your gamers again. But you left us like we were Jennifer Aniston.
And I know you said you'd never call.
But this community has got some balls.

And where did you read that in the article you posted a link to?

Closest I see is "It’s impressive to see a community band together to save something that they truly care about, and frankly we’d be immensely surprised if NCsoft wasn’t paying attention to this ground swell of support for what seems to be one of the MMO genre’s most beloved games."

  22. Why the hell were the free super packs moved from tier 9 to VIP only tier 9 on May 31st when issue 23 launched after they were added as a reward for tokens on March 6th with issue 22 launch?

Almost 2 months I was able to get them with reward tokens before you moved them. I didn't subscribe finally until August 5th and by that time I had 24 tokens unspent from buying points because I didn't want any of the other rewards at all.
  23. Absolutely not as much as I love the game and community.

If they said "the game isn't doing well so we need to increase the subscription fees to keep it going" what do you think would happen? A bunch of pissed off fans leaving is what.

Some people would be happy to stay and pay the new price. But they would probably increase Paragon Market prices as well.

Somewhere in 1 of the tons of threads here someone had posted a link to the Aion forums where people were unhappy about CoH shutting down. At least 1 player for that game complained about cash shop prices doubling for that game. And I keep seeing posts in the CoH forums about how bad financially Aion is doing.

The prices for cash shop currency for Aion (their version of Paragon Points) are about equal to CoH. 1600 points for $20. OK seems to be an average rate for MMOs. No biggie.........http://na.aiononline.com/store/ncoin/ (scroll down to 'Available Denominations'. There's your prices)

    http://store.aiononline.com/store/de...&currentPage=1
"Notice: This item can only be used once". They are asking 640 cash shop points for a 1 time use emoticon card? Are they out of their ever loving ******* minds?? That's what, around $6 or $7 just to use an emoticon once?

Just look around at their prices for Aion cash shop items http://store.aiononline.com/store/in...egoryPath=1_45
All but 4 of the mounts only last for either 15 or 30 days and it looks like all of them say that only characters of either level 30+ or level 50+ can purchase them. The 4 mounts that are permanent- 1 costs 1920 points, 2 cost 2400 points, and the last costs 3600 points ($50 in cash shop points for this one).

I understand your desperation for wanting the game to stay alive. But you are not considering the consequences of what you are asking. As a corporation they will probably take advantage of you, eventually if not sooner.

Currently it's "400 points for a costume set with over 30 pieces? A bit pricy but I'll take it".

Then after they decide to increase the VIP price "600 points for a costume set with 25 pieces? Well if it means the game will keep going I guess I'll buy".

Later on "800 points for a costume set with only 15 pieces? Well.....".

How much are you willing to actually *pay* to keep the game going? Especially for those of you with multiple accounts? After a while it would make taking your family to the movies seem like a better choice.

And game updates would probably be few and far in between as well.

I for one am NOT prepared to take a chance at paying a higher price for less product. FFS I get enough of that at the grocery store.

There were already at least a few players who complained along the lines of "Before the game went free to play we use to get new power sets for free. And they expect me to buy new power sets as well as a VIP sub?".

    Edit: Posted wrong link.

Same thing with me. I already had a "Someone has reset your guild wars 2 account password. Was this you?" email and I haven't, and won't, buy GW2.

Edit: Forgot to mention what I found strange about the email........It was using my email address I used to originally create my NC Soft master account and Guild Wars 1 account. For the past couple years my master account has had a different email address listed as my contact email.

And lately for the past year or so I've been getting emails saying that my Blizzard account was found to be in violation of the rules and I had to go to some site to log in and talk to them about it. I've never ever had a Blizzard account of any kind. Don't care much for their games. Most recently getting emails about the upcoming World of Warcraft expansion.

I'm not dumb enough to fall for this. The only thing I can think of is that I used that email address to register for accounts on a few F2P MMORPGs in the past, all of which I didn't care for, and maybe Anet is right about the hacks of other databases.
