NPC Conversions - The old Noble Savage thread from October 2010
I made a shortlist in this post.
First part: tight details. Longbow, Paragon Protectors. Tights have no clipping issues to speak of but people still make Longbow, Paragon Protectors using what patterns we do get anyway (one of the Longbow officers in new Mercy's starting arcs uses a PC pattern).
Second part: My only true 'request' is to finally get the Vanguard Backplate and thigh guards:
Back during the i10 beta when server transfers were first being tested; there was a glitch which allowed players to access certain NPC parts including the Vanguard belt with the thigh guards and the backplate. The thighguards were a second belt option and the backplate was a back detail although it ended up in capes at the time. These two are the only pieces left I really want.
I would eat a raw onion if this happened soon
Tyger (50), Mutation-Controller Mind/FF - oldest Mind/FF on Union
I'd like to see a "Bare Arm" and "Muscular Bare Arm" option for all of the "Robotic Arm" categories. This simple addition would allow for numerous asymmetrical and sleeveless looks for a plethora of the tight Chest options.
Goodbye may seem forever
Farewell is like the end
But in my heart's the memory
And there you'll always be
-- The Fox and the Hound
Exxtreme extra mega-bonus points if said normal/muscular arms can be textured (e.g. with options for simple bare arms or choosing from the usual list of shirt/armor/scale/zombie/tights/tigerstripes/etc/etc/etc textures available for Chest which also cover the arm-ish areas).
Also, a hairstyle with sideburns. A friend of mine has a character who can't take off his hat and goggles because there is no hair with sideburns and she was forced to fake them with a mask.
Back option for a second pair of arms.
More tights patterns, symmetrical and asymetrical.
More Golden Age style jacket options.
More beast and animal heads and options for monsters (dragons!)!
Kheldian sashes!
More stuff other people said. It's late and I don't want to type it all.
ok, very tired, so no pics now, will update tomorrow, likely cannibalizing my post form dave's thread.
My first request, and has been since issue 4 is a cheongsam.
im not asking for a full length one, since past the knee gets problematic, but all i really need is a tight top with the cross over buttons, and i can use the slit skirt for the bottom part. and possibly a top and bottom pattern to make a convincing one, usual themes are floral thems, dragons, and stylized phoenixes. if i could get this type of robe for males, it would also be great, but i suspect clipping
next request is a kimono top, a'la miho from sin city. , if you are feeling brave, a knee length one would be even better.
a miko type top and pants would be very nice as well.
next request may or may not be coming in the post apocolyptic set, but hockey/motocross armor would work well for a street level vigilante
and finally kendo armor
next up, id have to supprt calls for sashes for males, is there a way we could get them for males and females fitting on robes? that would be really good for kung fu themed characters. a more muscular skin for women(barbarian is a start, but the abs, shoulders and back should be more defined, and i'd also prefer more definition in the triceps.) and possibly adding new "robotic" arms that could either be more defined muscular arms, monstrous arms, plant arms, spikey arms, and maybe even transparent ghost arms or slime arms.
next, id like fish fins for forearms, feet and ears, as well as a lionfish like fin as a back detail and a finned tail. someone also mentione upthread shell tops and aquatic themed armor, id be totally up dor that. we did get fins with the halloween pack, but the arm and leg fins were attached to boots and gloves, if we allowed them to be used with bare feet/arms, id be very happy and it would get us part of the way right off.
another request id like is a robe top like the tae kwon do uniform tunic type top
and finally, I'd really love it if we could have the ability to use chest symbols on the back slot. It would be great for both martial artists and urban vigilante types, and likely many others. thanks for your time, and have a good one.
and finally, as many have alluded to, there was at one time talk of a reptilian costume pack for characters, following the mostly mammillian pack of the first beast pack, possibly even with dinosaurs, That would make this dragon character player very happy, particularly if, like the beast pack, we would have additional options of horns, fins, triceratops type frills and even feathers as possible head decorations, so if that stuff is still an option, im in full support of it and would be so financially as well.
ok, thats all i can remember for now, will probably have more later.
Only one thing i want
ROBES like the old CoT
How about under the different ARMS category, we get ones that are just SKIN. This would allow for a sleevless shirt, in every current armor/ pattern type, or one full arm exposed, while the other keeps the body armor/ pattern type.
So Upper Arms: Muscular Full Arm: Muscular --Obviuously it would keep the exact skim colors selected for the body as well. |
If necessary, you can keep the metal rings that separate the torso from the arms and we'll just claim they're decorative metal bands, just so long as there can be skin on both sides. If I could use that, I would do so in a HEARTBEAT for quite a few of my female characters. Probably fewer of my males since males already have huge muscular arms. I guess we could have a LESS ripped alternative for their arms? Smaller, thinner ones, perhaps?
While I'm on the subject - do you remember how people are constantly asking about Robotic Arms with jackets? I think this should be fairly easy to do, given how Jackets coded. Right now, Jackets don't display ANY sort of geometry under their sleeves. There isn't an arm below a sleeve, it's just a hollow sleeve. That's why when we pick the short shirt sleeves, we always get a skin arms regardless of what torso we're using - because it's an entire replacement arm. Well, why can't we do the same for robotic arms? Have a short sleeve (or even no sleeve) and have that skin arm replacement be a ROBOTIC arm replacement, instead. This shouldn't require much actual new artwork, should it?
I'm not sure how this can be applied to shirts and robes, but it very much can be applied to jackets. Best of all, then we can have those more muscular human arms show up for a Jackets, too! I'd suggest cloning this tech for Trenchcoats and the Bolero, as well.
Finally, while we're on the subject of non-robotic robotic arms, could we get a few more of those that are neither robotic nor human? We already have a crystal and stone right arm from Fire and Ice, but that only works on one of the three categories. I believe one of the artsts said because of the way the mesh is done, the arm can't be use in pieces. Could we get a few more like these that CAN? I'm talking about bulging monstrous mutated upper arms and the like. There's a LOT of room for more stuff in that category.
*edit*

Samuel_Tow is the only poster that makes me want to punch him in the head more often when I'm agreeing with him than when I'm disagreeing with him.

We need the rest of the VG armour, and we need it yesterday >_<
Oh, and while I think of it, PLEASE can we get proper WW2 style Military jackets? Y'know, trenchcoat with the actual jacket underneath with a belt over it, etc?
Like so;
GG, I would tell you that "I am killing you with my mind", but I couldn't find an emoticon to properly express my sentiment.

Good Lord, who is this woman? And why do we not have access to every last thing she is wearing?
Please make the tattoos happen, for male AND female models. A variety of tattoos would be nice, esp. tribal ones too.
Seconding the request for Egyptian pieces, people have been begging for Egyptian stuff as long as I have been on these forums.... probably longer.
Most everything I've wanted has been covered (NPC proliferation!) or brought out already (Imperial Dynasty!)... So just two things.
* More (always more) street clothing. The D pack was nice (even if those feet on the laced heels are a little frighteningly large compared to everything else), but I want more. Hoodies, some modern, decent-looking casual and dress shoes, detective-style cloth trenchcoats, shoulder holsters, polos, jewelry, etcetera.
* Better masking on Female bodytypes. White is white on Male and Huge, it's somewhat translucent on Females. I'm making a hero in a white suit, dammit, not a college freshman at a white teeshirt party.
Cheers!

Hawaiian shirts and Bermuda shorts. NPCs have them. I want them. My characters like to chill out in between cosmic battles and bank robberies.

Co-leader of Callous Crew SG. Based on Union server.
-Quivers (and I don't even have an Archery toon but how can we not have them?!)
-Individual gloves and boots
-Native American and Egyptian costumes (as said earlier)
-Hairstyles which are common to other races
-Can we seriously get more than one of things?! (Trenchcoats look'n your way)
-Fire n Ice Wing Closure (don't know if it possible but I wish they weren't always open)
-Jewelry
-An energy/elemental/spear staff (and more skins all around)
-Collars!!! (I'm talk'n Doc Strange style, armored bomb squad style, anime styles, Prototype 2)
-A Dollar Bill aura (bills moving around the character)
-More costume change emotes (giant beam of light comes down MK Nightwolf fatality style)
-Masks similar to Metaknight from Kirby and Vega of Street Fighter (basically round face masks)
Tons more but that's all I can think of. Plus there are already so many great ideas above.
P.S. I was wondering though, as far as auras would it be possible to have animals? Like a snake weaving around the body? A small animal that didn't just sit on your shoulder? Spiders crawling on you etc.

I'd love to see more anime/magical girl inspired costumes myself.
I also want that hammer with the drill on the end. or a drill staff.
First of all, thank you Dink, for porting the male long jackets to females, and for doing such a good job on them. Often, things ported to females/huge don't really look so great, but it was a fabulous job! Also, the armor (which I almost never use) has lately looked good on the female characters, where it never used to before - WOW!! (I've even made my first Tech themed character in 5 years!)
Here is the list of what I'd like to see (all available for M/F/H):
NATIVE AMERICAN CLOTHING
-Jackets, breeches (pants), skirts (pencil, not just mini) - with fringe. Available in suede (matte) texture, as well as buckskin textures. Available for all, (unless people balk at the skirt for males, though it is the only way to get a tunic top)
-Sleeveless top, same textures.
-As a hat: headband that encircles the head, not just the forehead. Feathered versions available. Attached to long, straight hair with braids (For both sexes/huge)
-Large feathered headdress
-leather upper arm bands
-southwestern style silver jewelry (cuffs, chest piece, belt)
-MOCCASINS!
-Tall Moccasins (soft boots with fringe at the top)
AZTEC and EGYPTIAN CLOTHING (already mentioned, so just voicing support here) Done in a more generalize way, ALL of the Native American/South American/Egyptian clothing could be in 1 set, if different textures were utilized (cloth, leather, suede, metallic)
ANKLE-LENGTH BOOTS. Soft, scrunchy style.... Robin Hood style... A sci-fi style would be nifty, too! Second color make available for tights, or bare legs versions.
TURBAN and WRAPPED HEADDRESS: hats options
PLANT and FLOWER ITEMS:
-Top and Skirt/pants made of leaves and vines.
-behind the ear flower detail.
-The head-style lei (looks like a flower "crown").
-Flower chest and shoulder detail, a la the plant items we have now. (My plant-themed
characters are all looking like tossed salads lately. Some variety would be very welcome!)
TEXTURED MASKS and COWLS (the styles we have now are okay if you don't want to put extra work into it, but the painted-on look is generally just awful) (Also mentioned several times, but cannot be mentioned enough!)
POOFY SLEEVED SHIRT: (for men and women!) We have reasonable poofy long sleeves with the steampunk jacket - with a bit of modification (less lace and Victorian detail), a fitted shirt open to the waist, and we'd have a fine pirate shirt!
CARNIE CORSET: as chest detail, so we can wear a bit of clothing under it, if so desired
BETTER FEMALE HAIR!!! (I cannot use "Club" hair on every single character I own, no matter how much I want to.)
Thank you for providing this thread!
Okay, I forgot to mention these in my original post, but how about some cloaks, too? The magic cape only works so well.
Goodbye. Not to the game, but the players. Goodbye. Everyone, remember to have fun. That's all I can say.
What I´d really like to get are Bioluminescense and Tights options for monstrous feet... the claws to be precise.

114. Ahrouns do not appreciate my particular brand of humour, so I should stop bleaching bulls-eyes in their fur.
Candy lebeaux's dress from smoke and mirrors arc for females. Kheldian sash for males.
An 80s rat tail hair style would be amazing as well. (Yes, I'm serious. No, I'm not holding my breath.) I got the image above from Google, and I'm kinda wondering if that kid in the picture might actually be me... |
Back on topic... Well, I don't really have any requests pertaining to wanting new costumes. But while I'm in Dink's thread... I want to work for Paragon. I applied for the character artist position for the new game. So Dink, if you wouldn't mind, take a look at my work (ediblepoly.com) and let me know what you think.

My biggest want is actually a "fix". My main would be using the male Ice hairstyle.
However, anytime he is affected by a AoE stealth field, his head becomes see-through. The hair ends up floating above the face with a gap visible through it.
So, I use another hair style, because I can't abide having a see-through head.

Egyptian, Native American pieces. More pieces but simpler ones would be better, to me, than fewer but really dramatic ones. For instance, I'd get far more use out of Native American style leather/deerskin pieces that can be recolored and integrated into other costumes than a big over the top feathered headdress. Not saying you shouldn't do that too if people want it, but for me, pieces like that have very limited use, and that's far less important to me than being able to integrate. The Gunslinger pack pieces such as the belt with the big star are an example of what I mean: I can't see using that on anything but a full-blown western movie type character, whereas there are probably ways to make a gunslinger-flavored belt that would still work on a more modern character.
More female hair, especially long. Cascading curls like Wonder Woman often has. More variations on existing styles, so I can reuse a style and have it not be identical apart from color.
Gloves and boots that match the Metal texture.
Golden Age, Silver Age pieces. Barbarians, medieval, and magic.
More elegance. Imperial Dynasty was *great*. Boots to match the chest/legs pattern.
Jewelry! I abuse the heavy neck chain shoulder option frequently because it's about the only option.
Long skirts and robes, maybe limited to powersets that don't have kicks in them, so nobody has to figure out how to animate Martial Arts, etc with them.
A third color. Probably not on the agenda.
Thanks for putting up this thread. Having a costume that fits the character and looks different from my others is about as big a deal to me as the powersets, and the continuing expansion of costume possibilities is really what keeps me in the game. What you're doing is very important.

I think I've noticed some costume pieces blend their two colors for a third color on some areas, most recently some of the lights on the mecha set done in red/blue look purple. Was that just my eyes or is it intentional? Regardless I think this is a great thing to see as it allows more than two colors per part without making any portion of that part static in color.
Can we do FULL HAND weapons? Big drills, Phantasm style steel balls with various pointy things coming out, big rocks with shards of glass or shale coming out, anything like that? Does any person, tech, or concept prevent you from making things like this? They would sure help with a lot of robotic characters and it would just be a matter of making the base big enough to completely cover the hand, right? Claws especially, with their 'extend' draw animations rather than pulling something from no where seem like they could take full hand covering/replacing weapons.
I would like to see more 'Science' parts and weapons. Retro Sci-Fi is good, but to me LIQUID PARTS really make things look like 'science'. Bubbling, fizzing, sloshing, or if FX are out, it would be nice even just having a container attached to something that looked like it was full of liquid. I can't think of a single example in our current line up except the brain in the jar, which I do not have. -
I made a thread about science/liquid themed weapons that no one cared to reply to so maybe this is not the most popular concept, but here's that link if you feel like hearing more:
