Would you use Paragon Points to buy Epic/Power Pool customization?

Good news, it doesn't. Go spend your ten dollars.

I'd be very, very surprised if they hadn't thought of this on their own. I'd expect absolutely *everything* they're developing or have on the wishlist/backburner these days will be given consideration regarding its viability as a Paragon Market item as a matter of course, forum thread or not.

This.

Warning devs if you ever do this don't even think about charging for it because I would make sure you would never hear the end of it and no it's not a threat just a forewarning.

The development team and this community deserved better than this from NC Soft. Best wishes on your search.

I guess personally, it'd depend on the price. I was pretty annoyed with the fact the Super Tailor came bundled in an add-on pack purchase, and even with the Freedom Launch, think it's still overpriced and have not purchased it yet. So the question is, would you pay? And if so, how much is the cut off point?

I'd be annoyed if pool customization came with a price tag attached, but Id honestly cough up points for it, as it's something more useful in the long run than the super tailor. My concern is it would probably wind up being segmented out into smaller portions with a bulk discount. I'd honestly probably pay 10 dollars/800 points max as a "day one purchase".

Opinions or thoughts?
No, I would NOT spend Points on this because it should be free and included in an Issue Release. Period.

The takeaway so far seems to be many people will pay for anything they want and that should be music to NCsoft's ears. It doesn't matter if you think it's 'crappy' if in the end you are willing to pay.

My answer is a firm no. Power customization started as something given to the players. It's good for the game, so it benefits the devs as much as the players. It should remain free.

If it included an account-wide unrestricted alignment PPP unlock I'd buy it.

But then I wouldn't be buying it for the customization.

It would be like a dealership selling you a car, then charging you an extra $3000 for the steering wheel, rear window and one of the wheels (rim, tire and all.) The work itself isn't finished, IMHO. It's something that nobody should have to pay for.

The ONLY customization I'd pay for - and probably gripe to some extent about - would be if the base system were in there (with the most-requested options, as well, like disabling the hasten effect) already, and they were charging for some over-and-above extra fluff customizations.
I kinda see where you're coming from, but we did get the base of Power Customization free, we're now asking for extras. Of course that's subjective, but I'm viewing the power sets themselves as the base with APP/EPP being "extra".

I've long said PC was left unfinished, and I agree that it absolutely should be free, but Paragon is operating under a different business model now and I have to accept that. Business is supply and demand, there's a lot of demand for this and it makes sense it would come with a price.

I like the idea of giving all applicable APPs and EPPs a "No FX" option for free, everything above that is for sale, that's an excellent compromise.

I hope to god that if/when we get to customize pool/epic/patron powers, it's either included with VIP or given to everyone, as it should be. Charging for it would be an act of incredible horribleness... but I would pay. It is a feature for which I have yearned my entire time playing this game. I would seethe with rage as I clicked the "check out" button and curse the marketing people's birth for it, but I would pay.

And then I would complain loudly and indefinitely about not having the points for the optional things I wanted, because look what you made me spend my monthly stipend on.

Make it free or don't even bother wasting time and do something else that improves the game instead. The backlash is not worth it trust me.

That's a tough question.

Honestly, I just want the power customization system finished. It seems stupid to have to pay for something that should be a core part of the system but...

If it's what it took to secure dev time to work on it and implement it, and also allowed more APP's like Electric Mastery for Scrappers and Tankers and so on?

Yes.

What they ought to do, sell something else that is cheap and easy for them to make or they already have and use that to fund the power customizations.

What did we buy a few years ago that paid for VEATs? Was it the Valentine's package?

total kick to the gut

This is like having Ra's Al Ghul show up at your birthday party.

Wedding pack, and I was just thinking of that myself.

Should be free for VIPs.
Rest should pay for service, same way they do it for GR or IOs.

Anyway, at this point we better pay for it even being VIPs or wont be at all.
My wish list always been:
Staff fighting (Done!!)
Pool/APP/PPP/VEATs/EATs customization
New basic models with higher res, animated faces and fingers (hair too )

Would like a confirmation from the devs if this is being worked on...

Agree with OP on all points.

This topic is brought up in every coffee talk, freedom Friday, PAX panel, suggestion thread, etc. It's been several years of asking for this already so I dont understand how they wouldn't just allocate resources for this already to make the community happy. They know we want this so just make it happen.

NO MORE HASTENHANDS AND NO MORE LEPRECHAUNS!

Edit: Oh, in terms I points, I would do 800 without too much fuss. 1600, I would do but not be too happy about. Anything more will just be annoying. I did end up buying about 200 super packs to get the black wolf though, so in the end I probably would go over 1600 for this.

Nope. Finishing a free system should be free. I wouldn't want to support it being sold seperately.

Long overdue since I16...
They should have come with a way to do it by now.
Can be so long and tedious to do it same way we can customize Incarnate powers, but Respec system is even more tedious and they havent changed that yet.

Do they pay to use anything past the first few IOs, or for the entire system? They already get *some* PC free, so I don't feel the comparison holds the least bit of water.

It's an unfinished system that's included free in the base package. This should absolutely *not* be a "free for VIP, everyone else pay" item. They should finish the system and have the whole thing be accessible - though, again, if they came up with animations "above and beyond" color and no-fx (say, for instance, fast-waving hands for Hasten's activation,) that to me would be fine to pay for... just like extra costume options.

If I went in to work and the boss asked me how I was doing on a project, and my answer was "Well, it's 85% done. You'll have to pay me more to get me to finish it," I'd be bouncing on my butt in the parking lot I'd be fired and kicked out so fast.

So, summary:
Pay for pool customization: No.
Pay for extra customization animations, while leaving "noFX" and color options free for everyone: Sure.
Pay for something else (costume set, powerset, etc.) that goes to funding it: Sure.

You have to remember that part of my willingness to pay is the stipend we get each month.

The City of Heroes Community is a special one and I will always look fondly on my times arguing, discussing and playing with you all. Thanks and thanks to the developers for a special experience.

I'm sure I wouldn't have to.

Based on my experience with this community, if they announced that they intended to charge money for Pool Customization the hailstorm of rage that would ensue would cause a cosmic explosion large enough to destroy the planet.

@Draeth Darkstar
Virtue [Heroes, Roleplay], Freedom [Villains], Exalted [All Sides, Roleplay]
Code:
I24 Proc Chance = (Enhanced Recharge + Activation Time) * (Current PPM * 1.25) / 60*(1 + .75*(.15*Radius - 0.011*Radius*(360-Arc)/30))
Single Target Radius = 0. AoE Non-Cone Arc = 360.

This. I've already got enough on my 'wish list' to use up my points for the next two years. I've bought extra points to encourage future development, but I won't pay for something that I think should be included in VIP.

Extra storage? Yes.
Power customization? No.

I'd rather not. This should be part of an issue's QOL improvements and not something we should pay for.

If I had to pay extra for pool customization I would do it, but I would be one very annoyed customer, as I would feel I was being ripped off. Pool powers should have been included in the original customization launch.

Given how often this is asked for and for how long, I'm truly at a loss as to why it hasn't been done yet.
