There's a lot more questions to be answered and story to be explored, even after his death.

And trust me, his death scene is pretty stirring.
It's really weird to build up suspense with the series being called "Who will die?" and then just announce it a month ahead of time. It's also funny that he's dying in arc #5, and so #6 and #7 will be still be titled "Who will die?" with the question already answered.

Also, unless you've got something else up your sleeve, I think you're killing off the most recognizable character in the outside world, and I'm concerned about how it will affect your marketing. I think Statesman is an iconic character in name and design, and losing that permanently would be a shame. (It's funny that I'm saying this now, because that wasn't such a compelling argument for me back in 2007 when NCSoft bought the game, and I hoped they'd kill him off).

Personally, I think you should have killed Lord Recluse and had Ghost Widow take over Arachnos, instead.

That being said, I'm still interested in the outcome.

Heroes get to fill in his place? So does that mean we get more stories of us being the best around?

Or..Statesman becomes Battalion.

Perhaps Statesman is going to sacrifice himself to bring back his daughter from the dead.

Just a thought...

That could explain why it took a lot longer than normal to update, for something that isn't issue something-and-a-half

I mentioned this in the discussion of part 3, but I'm really hoping, given the insight to her thinking that we get from her mirror-self in Dominatrix, and Longbow's utter lack of respect for the law as it applies to themselves, I fully hope/expect her to go into raging vigilante mode.

And Desdemona will also be affected.
Eh, her whole origin story was based on wanting him dead anyway.

I think I'll enjoy the change in the status quo, but we shall ultimately see.

So Tyrant sees Statesman's sacrifice (whatever it may be) and decides to don the mantel against an ever corrupting Well of the Furies?

Or maybe Hero 1 finally comes back.

Either way, this SSA has been pretty anti-climatic since volume 2. I'll just wait for the trade back edition next time.

If Ms. Lib's mental state during her argument with Manticore at the start of WWD4 is any indication, she is going to go completely off the deep end when this hits the fan.

I've been waiting for her to go rogue for AGES... this may finally be it.

I think the phasing tech will come into play with the loss of States. For those who do the arc, he will no longer appear for the TF.

I thought he was after everyone and anyone that was associated with Statesman. Not just the man himself.

I always thought they were going to kill him, then take his powers, and then maybe bring him back to life. The pieces in the first arc, along with Prometheus' speech, suggested that.

Y'know, considering there's two more parts left, it would make a lot of sense to do the same to the other side...

Putting some money on Prometheus' involvement in his death, somehow, again.

Next, marketing goes out, finds all the 3-5 year olds they can, and tells them there's no Santa Claus.

Personally, I have a villain who loved SSA4. Just to also affect manticore.

Wanted: Origin centric story arcs.
If you've only played an AT once (one set combo) and "hate" it - don't give up. Roll a different combo. It may just be those sets not clicking for you.

Maybe he's already dead and we all see dead people?

Okay, let's assume Darrin Wade or whoever is after Statesman's power, they take that power and then what? It's just power.

To make yourself a real presence in the world, you've got to get some kind of support base in the world, a chain of islands is not looking too shabby. So, mad dash scramble to usurp Arachnos' power. Recluse dies.

Thereby, giving both heroes and villains the same sort of possible position.

I'm kind of surprised no one's mentioned the ghost of Miss Liberty walking around. It was plain to see in both the red and bluside stories. I'm betting she fits into it somehow.

I'm not so sure - I think this change is a game-wide one, like the removal of Galaxy City.

I would think even recluse would be sad although he wouldn't admit it. What really makes a hero is his villain and what really makes a villain is his hero. Neither of them are as important if one of them dies.

What if ... what if BOTH of them die?
