Couple of things about this Philly. You are agreeing with someone who says they hate exalted (exiled) because of the "name-campers". I wouldn't paint the whole server in that light. Yeah there were people who logged in as soon as it went live and took some more active forumite's names and tried to sell them. That was a very crappy thing to do, but that has nothing to do with the actual server itself.
As far as saying it was a pvper who took your name, idk, that kind of disapoints me because you are really casting an unfair light on pvpers in general. It would have been sufficent to say "a player".

This tread really isn't about selling "someone's" name though, because
annihilius is just offering up names that he had gotten. So I don't think people who are comparing him to the people who tried to sell names of known players are really comparing apples to apples.

It would never occur to me to do such a thing but then again for the most part I am a care bear. So since I work fulltime I didn't think to ask someone to save my name since again the idea of being an douchy name take'r didn't occur to me.

Also your right what the OP is doing is different and I have no issue with it and GL to him with the sale of the names.

I said there wasnt any snark intended and I was just asking b/c I didnt know people really played main toon names on multiple servers.

Are you all certain they took 'your' names with intention of griefing? I mean, I know my global is @necrotron, but I'm definetly not 'Necrotron' on every server other than Justice, and not even Necrotron on the forums here.
Anyways, I understand some griefing has occured, but isn't a lot of it just unintentional side effects of someone thinking 'that sounds like a cool name' and claiming it, and it just happening to be the name of one of your characters elsewhere?
I mean, I picked out a lot of iconic sounding names on Exalted (names like Black Mage, Monster Hunter, etc.) when it came out that I can pretty much guarantee someone else has on every other server, because they are great names.

BTW, this did NOT happen to me personally. I logged in early and got Ironblade on Exalted. I doubt anyone would have tried to sell the name to me (and that possibility never even occurred to me), I just wanted the name.

If I go look at names people have on Exalted and maliciously camp those names on the other servers, would that make everyone here hate those servers and like Exalted more by comparison?

Most of the griefing from Exalted server is because they want the Rep or Inf not so much the name itself.
Too many 50's to list here's a few you may know.

My name isn't very common, and when the servers combined I found my name available on Freedom and the other servers, so to find my name gone after 1 hr of Exalted going live came as quite a shock and led me to believe the only reason why my name was gone, was to grief.
But I have grown past this now, I think the reason I was so pissed at the time was due to the fact I also lost my Global at the same time also, which could also lose me communication with people I have frequent with.
So now I'm happy to live on my home server and leave Exalted to whatever frequents their.

My only encounter with the name camping on Exalted was after I created a character there using the same name as one of my characters on Infinity I had for since COV come out.
I think it was the day after Exalted started I got a global tell from someone while I was playing a different character on Infinity saying that they have been know as that same name for a long time on another server and are moving to exalted and wanted to know if I would trade the name.
It was a very polite tell and although I understand the name in question would be considered a very desirable villain name I did not have the attachment to it that I have with some of my other character names. So after a couple of tells back and forward I started to type up a tell to say that he can just have the name, no trade required. But then before I can press enter he (or she) sends a new tell saying something along the lines of
I can arrange a swap with one of the good names I managed to get on Exalted, including
.. and he then lists a number of what I understand would be very desirable names (including I think at least two that were well known forum names).
It was at that point that I realised his story about having the name on the other server may not necessary be true and he likely wanted the name to trade to someone else, so I cancelled the tell I was just about to send and just told him I wasnt interested in giving it up.
I wonder if he realises just how close he came to getting the name, if only he stopped talking.
Still not quite sure how he worked out my global name from a character I had created but at that time no actually played (apart from exiting out as soon as it was created).

My views of Exalted were shaped by joining a "speed" Khan that lasted, I forget, something like 1 hour 45 minutes.
Yeah.
But it's the only server where I can claim my global as a character name. ^_^ And I got a few other good names there as well.
