See I've actually come up with a diabolical plan that capitalizes on these concepts. You install the red button in a heavy traffic area, label it do not press. Obviously this results in massive presses of the button.
Every time the button gets pressed a side panel opens up showing how many times the button has been pressed. What makes this diabolical is each press charges up the super weapon.
The best part, it will probably be the heroes that cause the final charge up. -

They can't be traded - but unlike the catalysts themselves, Superior ATO's are account bound, so you can email to yourself

There is a workaround, if you don't mind burning enhancement unslotters and converters - follow these steps for your Blaster with the full set of Superior ATO's:
1. Grab a spare Blaster ATO
2. Unslot your superior ATO and replace with the spare
3. use excess catalyst on newly slotted ATO
4. use converter(s) on unslotted superior ATO until you have something the other character can use
5. Email to the other character
6. repeat until all excess catalysts used -

I'm pretty sure I've fun SSA5 on this character after getting back to hero, and I was able to pick a hero merit then.
Just in case I'm wrong though, let me confirm how this works.
I can buy a-merits with reward merits without having confirmed my alignment as a hero. (I thought this wasn't the case either, I thought you had to have confirmed to even buy them)
But I can't earn them from the SSAs until I have confirmed my alignment by running another hero morality mission?
That seems needlessly complicated to be honest.
Forcing players to reach lvl 20 and run 10 alignment missions was the fix for this exploit, which they implemented by adding the "alignment confirmation" flag at the character level - this had the unintended side-effect of forcing established characters to confirm, as all characters start with this flag set to off.

There are 2 servers which are considered High Population:
- Virtue : Mostly west coast prime time, also the unofficial RP server
- Freedom : Mostly east coast prime time, not RP friendly, but has a PvP community
The rest are fairly low, Union having a decent population still as it was the highese polulation EU server before the EU/US server merge

I put my alt-itis into high, but focused gear, and created a brand new Mind/Dark Dom who I took from 0 to 50 over the weekend (well, technically 8 to 50, as I created her on Wednesday and poked around in Mercy a bit before the weekend - still, it's an accomplishment)
Now, I just have to figure out how to put together her very expensive perma-Dom build...
