Incarnate trials

I've been out of CoX for a few years and decided to come back a few months ago. A lot has changed and one of the big ones is the Incarnate system. I had so many level 50 characters I eventually started deleting some to make room for new alts but now, they have a purpose.

So I queued myself for the first available trial after I unlocked my Alpha slot. I didn't know what to expect but it wasn't like a normal Task Force or mission. Only problem is that it seemed everyone knew what they were doing except me and questions in the game were generally ignored.

Question: where can I go to find out about the trials themselves? What expectations/objectives are, best tips on how to complete them and how long they usually take. The actual objectives are well documented within the trial, yes, but like I said, when we enter, people just take off completing objectives efficiently and I end up being lost.

Thanks

EXACTLY. As a new returner with a boatload of 50s, I'm in a similar situation. After MUCH questioning, searching, etc I was finally able to figure out enough to get one of my favorite characters to 50 +3. However, I noticed exactly the same thing. Nothing was more irritating than getting on an iTrial and having your questions about strategy be completely ignored or even worse, mocked. All we're trying to do is learn as quickly as we can.

I decided to poke around and find the best available guides for the currently active trials (my opinion only, your mileage may vary)

I was unable to locate what I considered acceptable guides to BAF, Lambda, and the DD Trial on the forums, so those links will take you to the Wiki guides - Enjoy!

Behavioral Adjustment Facility - Recommended for New 50's

Lambda Sector - Recommended for New 50's

Keyes Island Reactor - Recommended for New 50's

The Underground - Recommended for players with 1 or more level shifts

TPN Campus - Recommended for players with 1 or more level shifts

Minds of Mayhem - Recommended for players with 1 or more level shifts

Dilemma Diabolique - Recommended for players with 2 or more level shifts

EDIT: The guides Agge links to below are outstanding - definitely good material there!

Welcome back.

Different leaders have different leadership styles. When you use the lfg queue system to get into a trial - you really have no idea what the league composition will be until you zone into the mission map.

Because of this, whoever has the league star is really just the one who happened to zone in first. They may or may not have any better idea of what to do than you do.

Yes, by all means review the guides.

This was one of the guides I looked at for the ugt - which is probably the easiest iTrial to get lost in.

There's no substitute for Paragon Wiki, but the link above gives details that are usually omitted for the sake of brevity.

If you find yourself on Liberty, come to our MoUGT runs on Sunday nights. I'm pretty sure I have a macro to answer almost any question you may have. (about the trial)

Thank you for all the advice! I'll start sorting through them this afternoon. In the meantime, I've been all the new powersets while taking breaks sifting through the forums trying to figure out these incarnate trials (which seem so straight-forward on paper).

I'll report back with my experience.

Thanks again,

@Sevven

if you want to go about incarnate stuff at your own pace then i would suggest running in the new dark astoria (solo or even teamed), the story arcs are very interesting as well as giving a reward table choice on completion and you dont have to deal with the raiding style stuff if your not familiar with it or dont like it

There are a few league leaders out there who make an effort to lead newcomers through the iTrials gently, explaining things and answering questions. But in my experience, the vast majority of leagues form up and assume everyone knows exactly what they should be doing every step of the way.

Aside from reading online guides, the best way to learn what to do is to just run through the trials over and over again. Don't worry too much about being somewhat ineffective at first, and perhaps for a while, as you learn the ropes. You aren't alone; there is always a newbie or two in every league, also afraid to ask too many questions or look like a fool. Unfortunately, the trials themselves don't do you any favors here, since most of what you know about mission structure, pacing, and tactics is useless in the iTrials. The good news, though, is that most players are patient with newbies and you'll be a veteran in no time!
