So yeah: tanker health, near capped resistances, AV triangles, mito healing, shifted 50+3. Tough, but not invincible - as we saw. I hope you guys enjoyed my attempt to create a balanced opponent for you.
Actually, I lost the +2 over Alpha buff with the crash. I still outlasted a couple of the others.
  2. In a crowd shot like that you wouldn't be able to see the names in the 3 point font either.

    Case in point (from above):

Little known fact: the images have the character names embedded in the image tags. This is automatically generated by the game.

  6. You're right. I now don't feel bad for Carbine. It also reinforces my low opinion of Garriott.

PCI Express 2 and 3 are the same type of slot and are compatible. You will be limited to PCI-X 2.0 speeds though.

  10. Tom's Hardware has a Graphic's Card Hierarchy Chart. It was just updated for November 2012.

The 460-256bit is one step up from the GTX550. The 460 seems to require a 450W PSU.
  11. CoH was the final straw for me. I knew about the other games, however none of those games were genres I was especially interested in. I also knew that once they say that they are shutting down a game that there wasn't a chance to save CoH as it existed in August. I'm tired of hearing that "if only NCsoft could see what this is doing, they'll change their mind". That isn't going to happen.

At the point where NCsoft dumped Auto Assault I was already 2+ years invested in this community. Tabula Rasa died when I had 4+ years invested into CoH. Year 5 witnessed the closing of two more games (Exteel and Dungeon Runners). Year 6 had 3 closures (Lineage 1 and two other Korean titles). Likely the only reason they haven't closed 4 games this year is that they are running out of titles to dump.

So over the last 5 years my opinion of NCsoft has eroded:
    • From "This company backed CoH when times are tough." (2007)
    • To "This company seems a bit mis-managed."
    • To "This company is being run by idiots."
    • To "This company doesn't actually care about its games at all."
    • To "Why the hell do people keep trusting this company?" (present)
I don't change my opinions overnight. I'm no where near that flippant.

There comes a point where you have to take a look at what a group is doing vs what they are claiming. They claim they are the worldwide leader in MMOs, but all they are is the worldwide leader of MMO-Killers.

NCsoft doesn't deserve the attention it is getting. In my mind they are already a dead company. I will never buy a product from them, and I will do my best to tell others why to avoid them. I feel bad for Carbine, but they should have done their homework before joining with NCsoft.

I've dealt with other companies that have pulled the same stunts as NCsoft has (take from a financially viable product to fund multiple failed product launches). Things didn't end well for those companies either.

I'm saying it is just a matter of time. No point on a slow, lingering death.

Don't keep leaving it when you rush to max level and go "What's next?" Also, get friends into it! May not work, but it'd help
I was prepared to stay with this game well into 2014. I never gave up trying to get players that left to come back.

I wasn't talking about ex-employee comments. When current employees in Korea say that "the company gives an almost free lunch" as the only good thing about a company, the corporate atmosphere is toxic.

Here is the thing: I don't wish any players of NCsoft games the disappointment when their game gets shut down. However it will happen.

I could care less about the employees though. They are supporting an unethical company. They know how bad things are internally.

Nope, I found a MMO I like. I liked it enough to commit to it for at least 14 months. I liked it enough that I put my money on that game when there are countless F2P and solo games I could play or even buy a console system to play that.

I have accounts with two F2P games as well (rarely used).

There comes a point where you have to say "Just go away." I've got to that point with NCsoft. I'm positive that players will find other games and employees will find other work (okay, given the attitude of some NCsoft employees, some won't) and life will go on without NCsoft. It is an overrated company, and a lot of its practices hindered development here.

NCsoft is paving the way to making itself go out of business, at least in North America. I will neither help it nor hinder its progress to oblivion.

From employee comments, working for another company would be considered a benefit.

It is going to happen. There will be a time when NCsoft shuts down another game. The company is a pathological game killer. I consider NCsoft going out of business so they won't kill more communities to be the one of the best things that could happen to the game industry.

They're lower, right now, than they've been since April 21st 2010.
I look forward to the day when Aion, Lineage II, or Guild Wars 2 will be the largest "active" MMO shut down.

    No, I'm not bitter.

I don't think you need to apologize for having your trials disrupted. I'm sorry I couldn't go to the later trials, but I had other commitments.
  17. I'd like to do some regular Magisterium runs for practice as well... I'll try for a league Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday.

Likely around 6pm Pacific, 8 pm Central, 9 pm Eastern for those nights.

    Edit:
I don't think I'm feeling up to running a trial tonight.
  18. Oh, and you can try manually joining a channel too:

    /chat join <channel name>

    Example:
    /chat join OOC

You can check who is on a channel by:

    /chat list <channel name>

    Example:
    /chat list OOC

And yeah, the use of illumination is really well done. There are a couple of future missions that send you into darkness as well, very creepy. Speaking of which, remember to hang on to the head lamp you get from this mission! It will come in handy later.

Actually they didn't fix it. However the Dragon version has a second headlamp at the bottom of the parking garage. Take the one from the office at the start and you'll be able to keep it. The flares are useless outside of the mission though.

It is very possible that there is a problem with your account, I know of at least one person that had a major chat bug. /petition it and hopefully the GMs will be able to help you out.

Other than that, there is the instructions up-thread about setting up the auto-join for channels, but here is a screenshot of the files needed:

A "Scripts" folder needs to be in the game folder, and the two files need to be named exactly the same (no extension).

Did you try the following channels:
    • OOC
    • CoH-Refugees
("/chat join <channel>" if you haven't made the auto-join files.)

Werewolves & Vampires are throughout Transylvania, but there are other nasties as well.

Actually some IP laws state they have to vigorously try blocking unapproved uses or lose the rights to those properties.
