As I've mentioned to a few folks here already, I'd made the decision to do no new business with NCSoft, ever again, almost three years ago. As much as I'd have been happy to keep playing, and paying for, CoH pretty much indefinitely, nothing that happened here was going to change that decision.

They have, in effect, fired me as a customer.

I will move on. I will always remember fondly the CoH players and Paragon developers, even the ones I argued with. I don't argue with people I don't care about.

If folks want to look me up "out there, somewhere", those places are in my sig. Take care, folks.

    John

My roommate, Elf_Sniper tried it out, then bought and subbed about a day and a half in.

As mentioned earlier in the thread, I got a lifetime sub late in the last beta. It's certainly not CoH... and I suspect nothing ever will be, for me... but I do love the game.

I've played a good selection of other MMOs... I think the longest I've lasted in any, though, were about six months in Aion (and that was... yeah... no. I'm not into a grindfest.) I think three? in TOR. Six, perhaps, since launch in STO. I know I have something in LOTOR, havent' fired that up in a long time. Not interested in finishing up anyone in GW, not interested in GW2 at all....

Yeah, I think where I'm going is "into the sunset."
Well, if you're so-inclined, look me up in either LotRO or STO. I'm fairly active in both, and there's a sizeable CoX population in the latter. You can add yourself to the CoX chat channel there to find those of us in both STO and CO - the channel is cross-game.

  6. So many... a br/dev blaster modeled after the Void Hunters and waiting for the i24 blaster changes. A tw/ brute waiting for radiation armor. A mind/dark dom designed as a vampyri (Archon Barlowe, a nod to King's "Salem's Lot").

    So VERY many more.
  7. By far, my necro/dark/soul mm, Blood Speaker. The first character I rolled more than 5 years ago.
  8. It will all be converted to microwaved marshmallow paste.
  9. Never had a problem with farming. Had a problem with being unable to sort the farms from the stories.

Heh, I remember the line a bit differently, but I think what really "made" the comment for Sean was my mildly sarcastic tone and the completely unconcerned shrug that went with it.

And wasn't Protean one of the players there, before he was a dev?..

No, it's OVERkill when you have Dominate, Power Boost and the Megalomaniac Accolade.

I'm perfectly okay with a (temporary) one-trick pony that roflstomps mobs that early.

My favorite "lolmoment" with my plant/thorn was getting ambushed by Tsoo in a cave. A couple of Sorcerers and about 4 roflninja charge, and of course meet a faceful of seeds. Instantly, the Sorcs tp away... and the warriors run off to go look for them.

By the time they came back, I was long gone.
  13. Well, that's why they call them rumors. Pity, though.

It all depends on their market analysis... which, given their overall financial track record, may not be all that great. But (making up arbitrary numbers, here) if they think that selling the game off for 3 million is going to cost them 10 million in future revenue, they'd likely choose to let the game die. Not saying this is a likely scenario, just a viable one.

You forgot "refuse to sell the game, because it's existence is a viable threat to their other sources of income".

So much for the sense of community.
Except that most or all of the devs have private accounts and non-dev characters in the game. I'd be just fine being able to PLAY THE GAME with them.

Okay, I don't exactly agree with the sentiment, but this still made me laugh!

    Where to now?

I'm going to retreat to my sig line. I've been in TSW and Rift both since late beta, and LotRO for 4+ years, about a year less than CoH. They were always "second loves"... but at least they're loves.

Edit: as a side note, if any visitor to this thread has any questions about the three games I've mentioned, feel free to pm me. I've already gotten a few inquiries, so if I get inundated, it may be a while before I can respond, but I'll do my level best to answer questions and/or provide trial invites, up to the limit of what I have available.
  19. Heh, that really belongs in the Rude Tells thread. They'd love it!
  20. I will apply trollogic and say that if we didn't vote, it doesn't matter.

Bah, didn't see that in the sidebar. Hate those things.
  22. Nnnnnneeevermind. Stupid sneaky sidebar expiration stuff.
  23. They don't have access to the game development anymore, and account status wasn't handled by them, in any case.
  24. My most soloable Dom has been my plant/thorn, though a plant/fire would probably have better damage. Getting an AoE (cone) confuse at level 8 (iirc) goes a long way to making it a safe ride.
  25. Hopefully, we'll meet again at some other game convention, and Michelle will bring more brownies.
