So, overpriced, no image, and misleading description?

At the very least, it should be "Spectral Pirates", not "Pirate villain group", specifically, "Red Terror":

What should have been a fun promotional sale has been marred by sloppiness and cupidity.

Is this going to be a common thing?

It doesn't really matter for something like this, which no-one wants, but if you do this for actual good things like powersets, costume pieces, auras or emotes, then I will be really unhappy.

Also, will the ghost pirate costume still drop in the Halloween event or have you removed it to increase its rarity 'value'?

Everyone was politely ignoring the prices on the temp costumes, and now you've gone and pointed them out. I play on Neopets, and so I'm used to overpriced and not very attractive pixels, but seriously, this is just silly. Even 600 points for a pretty old style NPC model that can't be customized and is incompatible with several powers is far too much.

Its not just incompatible with several powers, using this effectively neuters the entire stalker AT as they are based around their stealth, which this is not compatible with.

i actually bought a bunch of extra points recently. Then this promotion came out. A small fraction of the points i currently have to get it.

Yeah, no.

It's just ridiculous. Would you honestly pay for that? Would you pay 600 points for that costume when for 640 you could get Beam Rifle? Or for 800 two bundles of costume parts rather than a single power that does -nothing- and isn't customizable?

In other words, "But if we threaten to remove this option from the store for the long term, THEN how much would you pay?"

The answer to that question? No more than 40 points, same as the gift emote that was already in game. If you want to get me to pay designer prices, please don't try to do it with low-res, used merchandise. That's just insulting.

Likewise, if you want to convince me that your consignment store item is worth the designer price you're charging, you should probably at least pay more attention to how its described in the shop. Leaving all the old 2007-ish text only serves to remind me that this isn't a new item at all, just a very old game resource you're hoping to re-capitalize on.

I prefer to make my own costumes, and have never been a fan of the costume powers. Now, offer me a limited time on a costume item, and not just a costume change and I will snap it up.

As it is, the price point is still too high for a look I didn't design myself. While I know people have attempted to get their hands on these things from the cons, I have always had the whatever attitude towards them.

I understand there are other games that cost more, and I also understand from what others are saying that the con costumes perhaps contributed to this pricing. But seriously? No.

Let's just compare it to other costume sets, shall we? You get...the shoulder parrot and the aura. Awesome. Or I can go buy any other costume set for just a bit under what this nonsense is, and get all new costume pieces! The organic armor one had over ten, unless I was so asleep I counted multiples of the same thing. Guess what, I already have characters who look just as piratey (if not more so) then this dude, and I can take a stealth power, use a green glowing aura and bam, free redo of this costume, and my stealth will still be useful. Yay! So glad we worked that out. Also, I can make both male and female characters with this system, instead of being locked into only males. Ohoh, and I can do this at any time. So the idea of this being a 'limited time only' thing is a joke. The only thing limited is the parrot. Granted, it's a super-powered parrot that kills one of your powers, but it's just a parrot, guys.

And it's not like I'm some curmudgeon about dropping extra money on this game--my husband put enough money into his two accounts to get all the enhancement slots because it'll make ALL of his gameplay more enjoyable. This negates an effective power in game, for goodness sake. I spend a frightening amount of my game time tinkering with costumes (I dropped for the organic armor set and the thunderstorm aura without blinking an eye, and plan for a shopping spree after Street Justice drops), and this is beyond a waste of money. The same goes for all the NPC costume sets (I want the Freak set, but not at the current price), but this one really takes the cake for ridiculous.

This implies, incorrectly I might add, that they are charging "nickels" or "dimes" instead of "$5" and "$10". In other words multiply "nickel & dime" by 100 to get what they are charging.

Quick FYI these are Account Wide Global Costume Slots.

Pay 800, and every single alt and new character on that account gains an additional costume slot.

Yes from your 5 costume slot level 50's with the Halloween Salvage slot unlocked, to a new level one will all gain an additional costume slot!

If this works like the Convention Costume Codes then it will work with a Stalkers Hide (1.), Stealth IO's, Illusion Controllers Group Invisibility and having the Grant Invisibility Pool Power used on you, as these are not Mutually Exclusive with other Stealth Powers.

Notes:
1. Unless they changed Hide recently.
2. They did change Superior Invisibility to be Mutually Exclusive, which from my PoV I hate!

I was referring specifically to the accumulated 400-point monthly stipend VIPers earned over the summer, the "free" point total. Anything purchased since Issue 21 Head Start is a separate matter. In previous threads about CoH Freedom, many players discussed whether they would wind up having to pay a lot more money on the Market despite the VIP stipend or if they'd be able to save up enough for regular purchases with their "free" points.

If 600 points for a costume circa CoV 2007 is going to be the baseline, it looks like the former. Hopefully, the devs will learn from player reaction in this thread the way they did with the CoT revamp and make some concessions in the future.

superior invis has never worked with costumes, i have coralax and mk-v1 costumes and neither of them work with superior invis

these costumes have only worked with outside stealth powers, any self granting stealth power such as steamy mist, arctic fog, shadow fall, sup invis, hide, all do not work with them

outside stuff like grant invis (pool and ill control), and teammates shadow falls, ect will give you stealth

Noted.

It's still ridiculously over priced when, like I mentioned, I can save/load costumes at will to/from my computer hard drive. YMMV.

Honestly, I through the points at it yesterday, because I am a sucker for pirates, and on talk like a pirate day no less. Some marketing guy is loving me.

This morning, major buyer's remorse, something I have NEVER experienced with COH, as I thought about how much I spent for one single (permanent) costume power. Even on sale, its MUCH too high. I'm not whining, mind you, I should have thought about the purchase some more (but it was a pirate! AARRR!!!)

But looking at in hindsight, I won't let these things burn me again, no matter how tempting.

Now, the question is, what price is reasonable. 80 would be where I would want it set, and that's where I would likely scoop up one to five each month of the ones I like most. However, being realistic, I might buy one I /really/ like every 3-6 months if they were anywhere from 150-250. Any higher than 300, and I have bought my last of these, I think.

Unless maybe they add a Kronos Titan

This is truly disturbing. To charge so much for a freaking costume toggle power? Holy cashgrab, Statesman! This is the type of underhanded scams that made me literally stomp on my CO disc and curse them to hell. If CoX follows their greedy ways then I am so done here.

On that note, if they are adding stuff to the market like, costume pieces, can we have a page where we can see EVERY piece. Not just a toon made up in them but every piece! I know we can preview in the costume editor but sometimes you just miss things. I think a pic/descriptor of all items would go a long way so we can see what we're getting. If not then I will just pass on items.

Oh, no chance in hell I will EVER pay for a ridiculous costume toggle. When I saw that price it was tantamount to a slap in the face. I was disgusted.

Did anyone here go to herocon in 2009 and buy any of the convention exclusive costume powers for $20 American? Just wondering. I believe they did sell out.

Gonna have to add my two cents in. And by that, I mean, you're not getting my two cents, let alone 750 cents, for this costume power.

600 PP is way too expensive for this. Shame on you.

Forgive me for saying so, but such people may well have spent a great deal more on travel, as well as taking a great deal of time for an event associated with the game. Such do not, in my opinion, represent the situation of most players.

For me: The price is to high. Someone went into an existing power and altered the duration of it, and you charge that much? The time/effort disconnect with the pricing is astounding. Will all the pricing be not "How much is it worth, as measured by our effort" but "What's the highest we can ask before they say no?"

Folks, I've said it before. Don't aim for the few big spenders. Make moderate prices the masses will pay, you get not only a better return, but you also keep a better relationship.

I wasn't there, but I would not have bought a costume code for that kind of money. And I believe that's saying something, because I probably have more disposable income than most folks here.

These things are shockingly, appallingly, overpriced. If they gave you the powers of the NPC that you're changing into, I could maybe see the price being justified. But for only a non-customizable costume that actually limits your character in some regards? If the price was cut in half, and cut in half again, it would still be overpriced.
