  1. Thanks folks for over eight years of City of Heroes. It's been fun.

NCSoft has now killed City of Heroes and given the flimsiest of reasons for doing so.

That's it, NCSoft ... you're done. No more Benefit Of The Doubt ... EVER.

And I hope that there is an entire segment of the gaming population at large that feels the same way I do.
Yeah, I was a beta-through-sunset player of Tabula Rasa, absolutely loved that game. The way NC went about that closure was dodgy, to say the least.

And now, CoH is closing, and all we get is corporate doublespeak as the reason (strategic vision moving forward, blah blah blah). Bollocks I say.

Like many around here, I'll never look at another NC title again.
  3. My annual 12+2 yearly sub hit my credit card on August 20th.

I was a beta-through-sunset Tabula Rasa player (I still miss that game), and I seem to recall pro-rated refunds were provided for the paid-in-advance subscriptions. I might be wrong, but that's my recollection.

In any event, I'm going to give NC a couple of days to provide more information about compensation. But, if I don't hear by mid-week next week, I'll be calling my credit card company to dispute the charge (i.e. product not as advertised).
  4. I never delved into the Praetorian stuff much, but hear it's high quality content. I must make a point of running a toon or two through those 1-20 levels.

    Correct.

But I also recall paid-in-advance subs were given pro-rated refunds as well. I was on month-to-month at the time, so can't speak to whether such refunds actually came to fruition.

My strategy as well. Tedious, but effective.

This. Without these gimmicks, any new powerset will essentially be simply a re-skinned copy of an already existing set.
  8. 8th anniversary came and went for me yesterday, and no badge. I remain hopeful the matter will see a resolution eventually.

Think about it...you wouldn't be forced to run level 50 Radio missions in PI only.
Yes. I enthusiastically /sign this suggestion. It's not like I run a lot of scanners in the late game, but it would offer some variety to be able to run scanners in, say, Kings Row as a level 50.

Well, it did at one point, anyway. I don't know when this changed, but it used to say that.
I believe you get this message when you open a scanner in a hazard zone, or other zones that don't offer radios (e.g. Ouroboros, Pocket D). You get the "beneath your notice" message when you open in a zone that offers radio missions, but is a zone you've out-leveled.

    Agreed. Submit a ticket.

  14. Regarding the alpha slot, specifically, it can be unlocked by running a story arc in Ouroboros. I don't recall the name of the mender that gives out the arc, but he's the one standing a few yards away from the quartermaster. Personally, I make it a point to run that arc immediately upon hitting level 50.

With the lowering of the badge totals, you will get it pretty fast.
    This.

I used a CoT Guide myself for my damage farm. Worked great. Of course, this was "back in the day."
  16. Something I'll give you a heads up on, since you're doing either six months or a year at a time. Keep your eyes peeled around December for special renewal options. The last few Christmas seasons, they've offered one free month if you sign up for six months, and two free months if you renew for a year.

I sub on a yearly basis, and have taken advantage of this promotional offer the last two or three years now. It effectively reduces the monthly equivalent to just a hair over 10 bucks. Exceptional value.

Freebie Friday was a pilot program, and has ended for the time being. I guess the devs want to analyze the data from the promotion and determine if they're going to shelve it or add it as a permanent feature. But for now, no more freebies on Friday.

    2. Yes, reducing base plot, and selling items returns all prestige. The only prestige sink is the reoccurring rent.
  19. Congrats folks. I managed to snag MoMag running with some Virtue folks that same evening (what can I say, my cup floweth over with free server transfers), but wish I'd been part of the Champion run.

Thanks, Tyger, looks like you nailed it -- it appears the base must have been in this inactive status you mentioned. When I logged in this morning, there was base rent due, when there wasn't rent due yesterday (I tried to pay it yesterday, and it said there was no rent due). Zoning into the base and, yes, energy and control are now active.

    Thanks for your insight!
  21. Howdy folks, I'm looking for some help on building up a new base from scratch. Now, I'm not new to bases, as I have built from ground up a fully functioning base from scratch on Champion, with all the bells and whistles. But, I built that base literally years ago, and it pretty much runs on auto pilot now, occasional rent payments notwithstanding.

But, I've began dabbling with some long-shelved toons over on Virtue, and have started a base there. Problem is, I cannot seem to get any energy or control to "flow" to the base assets. Placed in the base are a combo control/energy unit (+75 control, +125 energy), a Basic Generator (+1000 energy), two Circuit Breakers (+150 energy each), a Mainframe (+50 control), and six databases (+50 control each). But, I'm getting zero energy or control -- the little bar icons in the bottom right corner of the base editor register zero for both.

So, I'm not sure what I'm missing here. I figure the control units aren't working, because they're not getting power. But, what do I need to do to "switch on" the power? I'm probably missing something blazingly obvious here, but any assistance is welcome.

    Thanks in advance.
  22. Thanks for the great runs, and getting my MoMag. Enjoyed the trials thoroughly. Cheers...
  23. So far as I know, the only workaround is to use only single target attacks, and even that doesn't work (for whatever reason) for some folks. It worked for me, thankfully. But if that doesn't work for some folks, I think auto-completing is the only other available workaround, barring waiting for a patch that fixes the problem.
  24. Best of luck, Amy and co. I'd offer my help, but looks like there's more than sufficient interest in the endeavor.
