At this point I'm too numb to really care about the money....but i think it is so funny...Virtue is my home, i've slowly migrated all my characters to virtue, and it full, so I had started a second account and been VIP month to month on it. Well, It was time to renew my yearly sub, and I figured why the heck not I'll do them both...so much for supporting the game...

I've been saving up for a new lens and a 5D Mark II since I got my new job a little over a year ago....I'll be more than willing to donate to the cause if anything comes of all the talk of keeping COH going.

I can keep using my old 5D...and my lenses are passable....but how to live without this community.....I don't know, no other MMO I've tried has come close to this game....and everyone involved with it.

Think any chance of getting any of that other money back?

Motivation is the art of getting people to do what you want them to do because they want to do it.

I think I read that NCSoft should be e-mailing people soon about their options. I don't think they're going to just take your money.

Given the suddenness of this, I don't think PlayNC was prepared to not take yearly subs and are now scrambling to figure out how to avoid lawsuits from this.

Oh, and Crimson demands you play this arc-> Twisted Knives (MA Arc #397769)

I'm sure they are going to keep your money. They did it with all the previous games they've closed. What they offered in the past was free time on one of their other games, however since all of those, except for GW2, are now free to play so I'm not sure what they will think of.

I just renewed for 14 months, 5 weeks ago so if the end is November 30, I will be owed around $90 of compensation.

Yeah I had an annual subscription paid up through April 2013 and at this point I don't really care about that money. If what's left of Paragon Studios actually figures out a way to refund me that money that's fine, but I'm not really going to hold my breath for it.

I had 8.5 years of great play from this game. Very sorry to see it go regardless of the monies.

And GW2 (and GW1, for that matter) is buy the game, play for free. My first guess is credit toward the GW2 gem store and/or other games' microtransaction systems.

Considering that I got an email encouraging me to resubscribe in order to keep my VIP benefits after they told us they were cancelling all of our recurring subscriptions I doubt NCSoft will treat anyone fairly where refunds are concerned.

if NC won't do right by you go to your credit card company and sic them on the problem.

I seem to recall that they've said they plan to do something, but haven't said what.

I had three accounts. Lucky for me, if I understand my very fuzzy finances correctly, only one had more than a couple-few months left on it.

At most, I will only be screwed out of two months of subscription on one of my two accounts. The other was supposed to re-sub in October.

My subscription auto-renewed for three months on August 30th. That means it's good until the very last day the game will be open. (Or maybe the day before, I'm not quite sure how that works)

After I read the news yesterday I emailed and asked for my payment we just made at the beginning last week to be refunded on our 2 accts. I got basically a generic email on it so I emailed back asking again but got the same email. So I imagine that they have had lots of emails asking for refunds after the news. Below is the email I got:

"Hello,

We would first like to thank you for your support of City of Heroes. It is never easy to make this kind of decision. You can read the official announcement at http://na.cityofheroes.com/en/news/n.../thank_you.php. There is a discussion on the forums that you are free to join at http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showthread.php?t=295621.

For refunds of unused time or unspent Paragon Points, we will be contacting those players directly with information. Please watch the website for any official updates as soon as they are available.

City of Heroes will be available for at least the next three months. We are working on something special for our VIP and Premium players. As soon as these plans are ready, they will be announced on the website and the forums.

Regards,
The City of Heroes Support Team"

I say that we all go into a Class Action Law Suit and get our Game back.

A class action could not get the game back, but it might get refunds for everyone with subscription time past the shut-down date. However, I really need to review the EULA to see if it has any provisions about overpayment or refunds. (Yes, I am a lawyer.)

My annual 12+2 yearly sub hit my credit card on August 20th.

I was a beta-through-sunset Tabula Rasa player (I still miss that game), and I seem to recall pro-rated refunds were provided for the paid-in-advance subscriptions. I might be wrong, but that's my recollection.

In any event, I'm going to give NC a couple of days to provide more information about compensation. But, if I don't hear by mid-week next week, I'll be calling my credit card company to dispute the charge (i.e. product not as advertised).

Q. Just wondering Posi, where are the new dance emotes we were told would come with GR?
