  1. Hmm...Ya, I haven't had a drink since...well I don't remember the last time...I have problems moderating things...all sorts of things, it tends to be an all or nothing kind of thing for me, but I had 2 beers last night...then was able to stop myself...luckily, by having somewhere to be and something to do.....but I wouldn't have even thought about reaching for a beer if it was for this news....Its weird, I'm OK, but really...this is tough....a little angry, can't believe this whole community will be gone....I've played fantasy football, met a few people, my sister met her husband on COH, its honestly been a part of my life since 2004... tough to let it go.
  2. At this point I'm too numb to really care about the money....but i think it is so funny...Virtue is my home, i've slowly migrated all my characters to virtue, and it full, so I had started a second account and been VIP month to month on it. Well, It was time to renew my yearly sub, and I figured why the heck not I'll do them both...so much for supporting the game...

I've been saving up for a new lens and a 5D Mark II since I got my new job a little over a year ago....I'll be more than willing to donate to the cause if anything comes of all the talk of keeping COH going.

I can keep using my old 5D...and my lenses are passable....but how to live without this community.....I don't know, no other MMO I've tried has come close to this game....and everyone involved with it.

Think any chance of getting any of that other money back?
  3. Not sure if we're just talking about Beast/ in this thread but....

The only place I would definitely argue that personal attacks are not a waste on a Mastermind is with Demon/. AOE -res, plus 2 single target -res can multiply you pets damage. The AOE - res is especially tasty.

Edit: So yeah...forget beast! (honestly I made a beast Praetorian when they first came out with the set, I don't know if it was being in Pretoria, or being beast but he got abandoned pretty quickly.)

  5. Wow, fun thread.

It was kind of like a train wreck, I couldn't look away until I read the whole thing...

...and now I can never have those 10 minutes of my life back

    ****Disclaimer 1****
This post is meant to be funny, I am in no way trying to offend anyone, I make no assumptions about what you may find funny, but made myself laugh a bit when I though up this response, since it is an internet forum, and the cultural norm allows me to post things regardless of their usefulness, humor, general good taste, or relationship to BBQ's, I felt it would be acceptable to waste 2 more minutes of my time in regards to this thread. I hope this post helps at least one person get through the entirety of this thread without feeling they wasted 10 minutes. However, since this is a forum on a Super hero game, that is probably viewed by the majority of the population as a waste of time, that is acceptable.

  6. For me personally

FF, Traps, or Time secondaries work the best for me. If you are getting hit, you don't also want your pets getting hit with the same AOE's so you want to get their defense up as high as possible.

FF, will be easy to cap their defense, Gives you a good start on defense, personal FF, and...well definitely helps your team from lvl 1-50

Traps, good defense and other mitigation, Acid mortar to take alpha, +regen for all, lots of fun toys,

Time, a beast at high levels, effectively cap your pets with farsight, powerboost, and time's juncture + uniques, group heal is more effective in BG mode because you know everyone is taking damage...so less heal wasted, great -res power....Time was my favorite MM secondary....we'll see if Nature Affinity comes close.

All that said, the new Nature affinity, wow is it impressing me as a MM Primary. I've tanked on a few teams...well, more I just took all the alpha's because of our lack of a melee character, but very effective at higher levels as well.

I like the pets that have +def with them, bots/Thugs, because they allow the pets to be hit less often while they are taking the damage for you.

Also, I believe, and please correct me if I'm wrong someone PET RESISTS DO NOT LESSEN THE PORTION OF THE DAMAGE THEY TAKE FROM BG.

SO with a pet with higher resists instead of +Def, they are getting hit more often themselves, and also still taking full damage from you. (I could be wrong)

Thugs/Time would actually be a pretty sweet combo for Tanker minding I think...I've never leveled one but I'm going to try to come up with a build today (Yay possible new project!) I like thugs over Bots because thugs has gangwar which accepts the recharge intensive pet sets.
  7. I know you said you're not going to build your own....but think about it. Its very satisfying, and will come out cheaper especially since you have parts to scrounge from a couple other machines. I'm 30yrs old and just build my first PC 2 yrs ago, once you look into it a bit, find a guide or two online, and spend the time on deal sites looking for parts...its easy and cheap.

    Reuse old parts:
    Hard drive (disk drive)
    DVD/Blueray drive
soundcard (if you have one or need one(you don't))
    keyboard, monitor, mouse, etc
    case fans

    Possibly reuse:
case (bigger the better for first time builders)
    memory
power supply (i'd reccommend buying a new well respected one though)
graphics card (don't know what you have atm)

    Buy new:
    small SSD for game files
    motherboard
    CPU & heatsink

I'm sure I forgot a couple of things, but just don't write off building a PC until you look into it a bit. If you are of average intelligence and manual dexterity, and can follow an online tutorial, you can do it easily, I found the experience very satisfying and now build PC's for friends and family.

  11. What will this proc do in rain powers like Ice storm/rain of fire?

Normally if you are hit by a KB from above...it doesn't send you flying....will the proc cause enemies to be KB'd out of the rain?

I'm at work or I would try it out, and I couldn't find anything in search....

Maybe I'm an idiot....I've only used it to turn KB into KD so far....I reread the description...does it only do KD and I have nothing to worry about? Thanks!

Has anyone used it in rain powers? It seems like it would be a nice use for set that don't need to convert KB to KD.

  17. Just starting to look at your build now...but you have IO's slotted are you VIP? if so are you going to at least get your alpha to T3? Isn't really much of a time commitment to get there...and will help the farming.

Worse, we had several people bail after the first phase, leaving us to fight a Tyrant set for 24.

Even so, we'd gotten him down to 19% at lowest ebb.
This has got to stop. Its not like there aren't people farming this mission...Most the leaders I see are pretty specific about whether its a FULL run or FARM. I mean really, the amount of this behavior has been surprising me, for the COH community. Its not what I expect.

We also had someone that was +0 getting pissed off the league wanted people at least +2. I find it hard to imagine you have Lore and Destiny unlocked but aren't +1 yet?

I think someone needs to play the game and stop trying to PL Incarnate content. Its not like its all that hard or takes all that long to get T3 powers I don't play much but I have T3 on my incarnate characters that I've put any effort (1 week a few hours a night) into.
  19. Gotta say....if the team knows what they're doing....and everyone is on their game...Its been successful.

I like the difficulty now. I've been doing it on pugs on Virtue and its already trending to be more successes than failures for me. Now that I've got the rhythm and looks like others are as well...

I'm always up for something new....and a consistent team is always nice. If you'd like a 3rd player for your little group let me know what time/days you play. I'm east coast so mostly play after 8pm EST. M-F. see if we can work something out.

The pets are also fire and forget so they aren't a constant clickfest for you which lets the player focus more on what else is going on. /Rad's got so much on toggles though that that may be a lot less useful than more click power focused builds.

  23. I've only just unlocked Hybrid myself. I don't have anything slotted yet.

My Crab has perma pets, and Support Core Embodiment is the first Hybrid I'm shooting for as well. as far as I know, (I could be wrong read it somewhere) Support is the only tree that will effect pets, so it is by far the most useful in many situations for us (keeping those pets alive keeps our AOE and ST DPS maxed out more than any self buff.)

The only other branch I might try for on this guy is Melee. Both Radial and Core look very useful.

My pets are currently at Perma 37% Def 20% resists (plus whatever their natural resists/def are can't remember off the top of my head.) I also have Ageless which i use at times.

He is definitely a work in progress, but this is very close to how he is slotted on live. I've dumped alot of Inf. into him, but he has kind of become my main at least currently.

Here is my build if you'd like to look. I'd also take any suggestions if you have any. I haven't had a 2nd pair of eyes look at him yet. This is my 3rd Patron. I don't like Mace for crabs, and just recently repeced out of MU. I have no KB mitigation or Immob, but currently I like Soul, helps my ST damage and the Widow survives better than I thought she would.

My last repec I completely forgot I needed to slot KB protection so yeah....oops.

    Medicine pool

The whole medicine pool is rather underwhelming....I agree that it would be nice to not have to take Aid other or stimulant, but the percentage of characters that actually utilize Aid self, I would assume would be mostly Melee characters, that are defense based, that don't have a self heal.

I've taken aid self a few times...the only time it really benefited me was on my /stone brute when I used to tank LRSF(way back in the day before AE) Other times for me it's more useful to try to continue doing damage and rely on teammates to heal. In a team setting things just move so fast that Aid self is harder to get off...and slows you down so much.

It is definitely to me, more valuable if you're soloing...in which case...aid self and stimulant...not too helpful.

I don't know what beta supposedly tested this out(no prereqs for Aid self) but I can not imagine it breaking any power set or making anything Overpowered. I mean what do you gain....You gain your 25th power choice....and 1 slot for that power? Min Maxing in most cases would avoid the use of Aid Self at almost all cost. Sure that power choice would probably allow for a better set mule at minimum, and hopefully a semi useful power...but no sorry...with all the powers flying around in this game, I don't see it breaking anything or even benefiting most build much.

...Now if we could get a self Rez as a power in medicine....that I might take...I just love to get up and keeping rolling.

    It will if they're sleeping!
