Radio Missions Zone Level to 50

I want to suggest allowing Radio missions to start at the zone level...like they do now...all the way up to level 50.

Example...you can start getting radio missions in Talos at level 20 (I believe)...but allow us to continue getting radio missions there all the way to level 50.

Think about it...you wouldn't be forced to run level 50 Radio missions in PI only.

True, and a hero would not leave a city to it doom at X level. You should be able to get radio missions for any city, from 1-50.

Well, I think the official justification in that regard is more along the lines of "your awesome actions over the last ten levels now have resulted in this zone not needing hero support anymore", sort of like how you can take down Doctor Vahzilok near level 20, and though his zombies don't stop spawning, per se, their level means they probably won't aggro to you anymore, so they're not "really there".

Or something.

Granted, as far as the topic at hand goes, a little variety never hurt anyone, and some of my characters' backgrounds are tied to certain zones, to the point that it'd be kind of fun to use radios and Tips to let them cover their "homes".

Actually, the flavor text when you open the radio in a zone you've outleveled is, "The events here seem to be beneath your notice."

Beneath my notice? I'm a hero! Let *me* choose whether it's beneath my notice.

Really? I knew they used "beneath your notice" for villains but I could swear the scanner said "they don't need your help here", or something similar. Did it change at some point, or am I just crazier than I think I am?

If this included Safeguard/Mayhem missions too...sign me up! *so tired of protecting/robbing JUST PI at lv 50*

It never did that. They never implemented different text for that situation for heroes, so they just get the same message as villains.

Issue 16 made me feel like this.

This is one thing I would really like. The whole "beneath my notice" thing has never been heroic-sounding to me.

Also, radio missions in AP.

Unsigned.

No. Definitely not. This will encourage people to stay in the same zone grinding out Radio Missions from 1-50. It's bad enough as it is that Radios seems to be all people want to do on teams, but this will make matters worse. City of Heroes will be come City of Couch Potatoes. Not fun. Dull as dishwater.

Even more emphatically unsigned than my previous post. Doing this would provide no incentive for players to visit other zones and explore all the other wonderful content the game has to offer. This is not a direction I would like to see the game moving in.

Err... Where do you guys get the "beneath your notice" thing from? Every time I open my Scanner in a zone that's too low for me, it says "The police scanner is remarkably quiet." on my screen.

*edit*
Well, it did at one point, anyway. I don't know when this changed, but it used to say that.

Yes, because it's not like the people who are already grinding 1-50 already have the AE, DFB, RWZ repeatables...

Oh, wait.

Bad excuse is bad. Stop penalising people who want to play legitimately (i.e. getting the badges from Radio/Paper missions) just because *some* people want to grind 1-50. Hell, even *I* tend to farm/whatever 1-22 because, I'm sorry, I've run that content so many bleeding times and, frankly, pre-SOs for me is DULL. As dishwater, in fact.

And people who have no intention of doing that content ANYWAY will CONTINUE to do what they already do. The only people this penalises are, funnily enough, the people who want to play all the content, when they want. Isn't that a funny notion to get your head round?

I'm sure others have their own reasons to want this...but mine is so that I don't have to use PI as the only zone for level 50 Radio missions.

...and if someone wants their "street-level hero" to stick around Kings Row and Skyway City for the environment doing radios to level 50...then why not?

People have fun in their own ways.

Agreed. We don't want another uncle Ben.

I can dig it. I could see them being level bound on the low end, just so you don't chase papers/radios in a zone that's too high for you, but you should be able to in any zone that you're well over.

I would love a reason to be in King's Row more often. I know Tips frequently default to the zone you're in (or seem to), but this would be even better.

I believe you get this message when you open a scanner in a hazard zone, or other zones that don't offer radios (e.g. Ouroboros, Pocket D). You get the "beneath your notice" message when you open in a zone that offers radio missions, but is a zone you've out-leveled.

Q. Just wondering Posi, where are the new dance emotes we were told would come with GR?

Yes. I enthusiastically /sign this suggestion. It's not like I run a lot of scanners in the late game, but it would offer some variety to be able to run scanners in, say, Kings Row as a level 50.

Count me in on /sign-ing this for all the reasons already stated.

And yeah, the "remarkably quiet" is also in Croatoa. Anywhere other than the main zones.

Can't. Game won't give me radio missions in zones I've outleveled. Because apparently things are "beneath my notice" (when I never said so).

"Remarkably quiet" is used in zones that don't have detectives, e.g. Atlas Park, The Hive, etc.

Okay so they used a poor choice of words. Big deal. All they have to do there is change it to something like, "The police have everything under control here, Report to Detective (insert name) in (insert zone). He needs your help, so you're being transferred to his Precinct."

And that solves your problem with the phraseology.

Oh and /unsigned.

The current system not only gets new players using radio/newspaper missions to navigate to different zones it also help teach them what landmarks are in the zones and where to find various NPC groups.
