For those that have year-long subs still going...

Is there any idea of how that will be treated?

Or is this a "too bad, so sad" kind of thing, where they can use the EULA as a reason they don't have to refund anything?

@Rylas

Kill 'em all. Let XP sort 'em out.

Yup, April for me, too. And yes, NCSoft handled this in just the right way to assure a lot of people wouldn't want to do business with them again.

Of course, I've questioned their Paragon Market decisions a lot before hand, so this isn't completely surprising that they don't know a good way to make great business for themselves.

[edit] The irony of it all is that I questioned whether I'd want to commit a whole year (again). Of course, the whole time I knew I would. I really, really liked this game.

Let me put it this way. I just got this email from NCSoft.

The email system hasn't been disabled and is still trying to entice people to resub.

My 6 month sub just renewed a couple of weeks ago. On top of that, I have a ton of points, many purchased that I undestand I can't even spend any more. Not that I want to anyways.

I got the same email. My year sub was due to auto renew Nov 1st and I wanted to make sure it was OFF.

It's hard to tell. And my spouse can't log in. And the support.ncsoft.com site uses an invalid security certificate, so we can't ask for help there, and the security question answers appear to be wrong, and the "enter an email address to get an access code" thing doesn't work.

If there are charges, there will be disputes.

EDIT: Found it. Looks like I had one in February, one in October or so, and one in November. All cards now removed.

Meh. I was really, really, looking forward to nrg/dev in i24.

I just manually re-upped for the full year just a few weeks ago, should have known something was up when it didn't do it automatically like normal.

My guess is they give us credit in another one of their games.

I believe that's what they did when Tabula Rasa closed.

For what it's worth, I already asked for a refund. Blurry-eyed, but coherent enough to think about financial matters.

I got the following reply:

Hello,

We would first like to thank you for your support of City of Heroes. It is never easy to make this kind of decision. You can read the official announcement at http://na.cityofheroes.com/en/news/n.../thank_you.php. There is a discussion on the forums that you are free to join at http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showthread.php?t=295621.

For refunds of unused time or unspent Paragon Points, we will be contacting those players directly with information. Please watch the website for any official updates as soon as they are available.

City of Heroes will be available for at least the next three months. We are on something special for our VIP and Premium players. As soon as these plans are ready, they will be announced on the website and the forums.

Regards,
The City of Heroes Support Team
Take it for what it's worth.

Like seebs, if there's no refund, there will be a credit card dispute on my part.

Maybe they'll give you credit towards another wonderful NCSOFT game.

My wife and I both have several months still on our subscriptions. I'm not holding my breath that we'll get a refund. Buy another NCSoft game? LOL Yeah, right.

I'm not quite as concerned about the refund question as I would be about any new charges. That said, I would rather get a refund than time in any of their other games; they don't make any other games I'd be willing to pay money for.

Correct.

But I also recall paid-in-advance subs were given pro-rated refunds as well. I was on month-to-month at the time, so can't speak to whether such refunds actually came to fruition.

Q. Just wondering Posi, where are the new dance emotes we were told would come with GR?
