Highest DPS mob for a rest damage farm?
I find CoT guides to be the best. Maybe it is not 'best' DPS exactly, but it is fast, and heavy enough to make the counter move. Also, there is no mez type effect (which a lot of brawl types do) to smack you out of rest.
With the lowering of the badge totals, you will get it pretty fast.
I second CoT Guides. Tweaking the mission level is usually enough to reach the upper limit of the DPS you can survive while Resting.
What about Incarnate missions? Would being level 53 have any difference?
It would make a difference, but not a useful one. You want to take as much damage as possible, and your defense and resistance are floored while Resting, so the only things that matter are your regeneration rate and the incoming DPS. Extra level shifts have no effect on the former, and decrease the latter. At best, you'd set your mission two levels higher and get the same progress, and since you can't get enemies above 54, you might make less progress than you would outside DA.
I dont think so..the shifts dont change our actual HP right? So it wouldnt change regen, damage you can take, etc etc.
Also be sure to slap a Heal IO in rest, helps a lot of a squishy. And if you are doing it over night, be SURE the guide cant kill you as they often seem to cheat. Check he stays in melee too..sometimes they start with the crossbow and wont change back.
It really depends on your AT and your total HP who you want to use. The only thing you need to worry about is that you've got enough regen to compensate for the damage you're taking. I was able to take on three even Rikti infantry on my brute. To echo what others said just make sure there isn't a mez that will break rest in the critters attack chain.

I always use Carnie Strongmen.
1 even level Carnie strongman usually takes me down 70-80% before regen to full.
I used two CoT Guides. For me 1 CoT guide was attacking too slow. I cant remember what there levels were.
Just a follow up, I have found Harlequin Fencer's to have the highest DPS. Granted I am a Brute with 2102.7 HP. I use a level 54 Harlequin.
They have two attacks a stab thrust attack and a parry looking attack. They cycle them extremely fast and it looks like I just barely heal up before the next attack comes in. I seem to get over 1 million damage per hour. Might be 1.5 million.
Last night though I lost an entire night of damage farming, I somehow died and I am not sure how. I am even back in the same map and have been rest farming again (After I woke up and saw I died) and its been nearly 20 mins now and I haven't died.
Must of been a fluke? But regardless, I could always put healing flames on auto too. Anyways, this is really getting some good damage farm in.
Back in the day, the best option was a Rikti Chief Soldier. They would just swing their sword every ... 9.5 seconds or so I think. On a Scrapper or Stalker with a Heal in Rest, you could regen fast enough. I think everyone else needed outside healing, like someome spamming Heal Other. The Rikti Soldiers were best because they would do WAY more than your total HP each swing, but the one-shot code would keep you alive. As long as you could regen or be healed back to full before the next swing, you would survive.
A while later the boss AI was tweaked so bosses would cycle their ranged attacks, so I don't know if this works anymore. I tried different looking bosses and different combinations of range. I think Arcannaville mentioned that some bosses would just to melee under some circumstances, and I think I managed to reproduce that once. But in general I don't bother these days. I just use a Guide like everyone else.
Goodbye and thanks for all the fish.
I've moved on to Diablo 3, TopDoc-1304
I used a Seneschal, getting the extra little DoT from her fire to help.

Decided going to try and get all the damage badges, assuming level 50 and incarnate shifts, what is the best enemy to rest in front of?
I know the easy answer is one that doesn't kill you, however, I figured someone by this point has calculated what one deals the most DPS within the limits of keeping you alive. |
Mind of Gaia lvl 50 Defiant's first Mind/Storm 'troller.
Deadly Doc 50 Dark/Dark Corr
and lots more on Pinnacle,Union and Defiant
I find it's better not to worry about efficiency on these badges. Just find a mob in an instance (to avoid timing out) that can't possibly kill you, then go do something else for a while.

Efficiency mattered then.

i had to do this on a mm, the cot guides were actually hitting me too hard so i had to downgrade and just used 1-2 rikti monkeys on monster island lol
that actually worked out quite nicely although it was a tad slower than the cot method

I used a CoT Guide myself for my damage farm. Worked great. Of course, this was "back in the day."

Q. Just wondering Posi, where are the new dance emotes we were told would come with GR?
A. Positron: Whoops, my bad.
1387 badges, and counting
I hope this is not necroposting, but I wanted to see if I could get some ideas for a better damage farm.
The top damage badge is 100mil taken and I'm currently working on rest damage farms on my Dominator. Once he's done I'll have to worry about it on my Defender.
Against a level 54 CoT Guide I'm averaging about 350k damage taken an hour. X_X
He drops me to about 10% HP on each hit and I don't quite heal to full before he hits again. (Which is fine, it bypasses some of the accolade HP.)
Is there a better way to do this? It's over 200hours at this rate to the badge if all I do is leave myself in rest at night, so I'm probably looking at a month of farming damage on this one toon.

2 months might be a little necropost but not too bad lol
they did fix the dmg badges to count accolade and other hp bonuses i believe within the last issue or 2
as for something faster? no you prolly wont find anything much faster, when toons only have ~1000-3000 hp and you need to take 100 mil dmg its gonna be a bit slow lol
