Quote:I meant the issues and what they brought. The game is great and I like it. I played it a ton. However, the direction of most issues was rather weak. The content was very repetitive. The storylines were weak and took forever (Coming Storm that never came; numerous issues for the Praetorians).I'm curious as to what you mean by "not evolving" The storyline kept getting added to (whether we liked where it was going or not).
What exactly is evolving? New types of missions? Changing the game mechanics constantly? Changing powerset numbers all the time so people didn't flock to them? Making more resistant to a specific type of damage enemies, so people would say "I avoid them because they resist my damage to much" or tougher enemies so people could just not run the content, you know, like how most people avoided Rularuu because they were tougher and not as easy to beat as those Council enemies?
Allow me to expand a touch here. In a year we saw maybe 3-4 issues. It was a poor idea to see stories that took forever to develop.
A lot of content was underwhelming. It was starting to lose the superhero feel here and there. Lots of content made it seem more like D&D than a superhero game. I know superhero genre is very blended but there was a lot of stuff that made me think it was more D&D-ish than anything...
Each issue had story arcs that were not that great. We needed to see more epic arcs with costumed supers that didn't appear everywhere else.
Repetitive. Too much stuff used over and over.
Please keep in mind these are not major complaints but things that I did not care for. I would like to see a fresh take. -
I really liked a ton of stuff in CoH but it didn't keep evolving and the new issues seemed to be just stale. So, my wishlist would be not to have Miller lead dev on another MMO I might be into. Have him on the team but not as the lead.

The more recent movies were an unmitigated disaster. Disney taking over STAR WARS is fine by me. They got it out of George's hands and that is a good thing. He is a poor director. He had some amazing ideas and he should've had some assistance directing/scripting etc. Such horrid dialogue! Pod race for 10 mins +?! WTF?! JAR JAR!!! The horror...the horror...

Quote:Completely agree. I've been saying for years the game was getting stale. I also think adding currencies and salvage was a waste. The salvage system was a nuisance when crafting. The content was repetitive - it's nice to change the story but when the look is the same over and over then it gets tired and old. I know the budget was an issue but this is a game first before a story. The super long drawn out story lines going over multiple issues was a poor idea (Praetoria, Coming Storm etc). These plots should have been no longer than 2-3 issues. When you get 3-4 issues a year a multiple issue arc is not a great idea.I completely disagree with that. Sure, he may have been around the longest, but that doesn't mean he always made smart decisions. He actually became pretty close minded as the years went by. I really feel like a new CoH could easily survive without him, and maybe even do better with fresh blood. We could get an actual endgame that doesn't punish small team/solo players, or force the player to grind as badly as ours did. Not to mention implementing a better PvP system and getting a lead designer that's actually familiar with the lore.
Anyway, some change of direction would've been nice but lesson learned. Still enjoyed it and kept coming back. Just some constructive criticism, I guess -
Quote:Not everyone is made the same. A predator got her at 12 and she made a mistake. Most of her world tormented her. She was put through hell for almost 4 years. She was obviously troubled and I cannot begin to imagine how she felt after going through all of this. People can be absolutely savage.I see what's happening in the world, and it generally reinforces my stoicism (which is not actually apathy). And I have never claimed to be perfect.
And your pity is noted, but can you make a case for self-mutilation and suicide being a sensible response to other people not liking you? Because it doesn't make sense to me. It's a ridiculous notion - crazy, even - and thus I cannot sympathize with it any more than I can sympathize with the act of shooting a bunch of random people because you don't get asked to join their reindeer games.
Another story notes via CTV news notes these same savages vandalized her Facebook memorial page. They posted sick images which included a pic of a bottle of bleach and a comment about her nose. All this after she took her life. They are still attacking her. So, I hope you can maybe begin to comprehend what kind of sick animals have been at her for almost 4 years. This was far from a case of not being liked. -
Quote:Wow. You need to get out and see what's happening in the world. People aren't all perfect like you. I feel sorry for you.I cannot sympathize with getting worked up over threats to expose something embarrassing I voluntarily did in a fit of stupidity, or the subsequent exposure. It's the sort of thing I would shrug off.
And I cannot sympathize with taking up self mutilation because people say bad things about me.
And I also cannot sympathize with not taking appropriate legal action for clearly misplaced sentiment.
And probably a few other actions and reactions on her part.
Having been in similar situations to varying degrees, I can sympathize with the situation itself, but just not the actions and reactions to it. -

This happened in a town near me. I don't know the person but it is an absolute tragedy. Her video is so sad. Think about this if you're out there tormenting someone...

I did and that isn't entirely true. If the devs asked us to stop at said ad for a minute to increase revenue, that would've been fine by me. Same if they used them as loading screens etc. I just remember the outrage my the mental midgets when they talked about in-game ads. No, it didn't kill CoH but it killed off a revenue stream. I am still amazed at the sheer stupidity of some of the people that play(ed) this game.
-
Quote:Yep the Devs tried this but there were many backwards thinking/moronic players who were against. That was the stupidity the helped bring down our City. Putting up a passive ad of an actual product as opposed to a fake item...that caused an uproar. You can thank those morons, in part, for helping kill the City. No, really, go ahead and do it. Those are the same idiots that think money grows on trees and this game runs on good will.Maybe a little late for this to help? There are quite a few billboards in the city zones.
Sorry, a little bitter over the game closing. I have nothing but venom for the narrow minded, shortsighted attitude of some players here. -

Fparn!
This is the worst long weekend. Posi, are you going to do a big reveal on what was upcoming in game or what you had planned to release? It'd be kinda cool to hear about what happened behind the scenes at PS.
Again, thanks to everyone for a wonderful ride. You guys managed to hook me for 4+ years. Not an easy task! -
What're the chances another company comes and picks up CoH?

I like the new look.
My question is why don't they keep the old and new? It gives more variety (kinda).
I wondered the same thing for the CoT. The old and new would have given us much more variety. The classic old look robes could have been the lower ranks and so on. -
I've been out of ye olde comics for, oh, over 20 years so this thread is kinda nice. Always had a soft spot for them. I'll have to take a look at some of these suggestions.
Has anyone read KADE from ARCANA Studios? It was strongly recommended and was wondering what you all thought of it.

I think a month is about the right amount of time. I hope they add more 'movies' for next summer. It was a fun distraction and one of the better events. They could even add more opponents in the gladiator event or have more options that randomly come up each time you run it.
I didn't think the casino heist was as good but ya...it was decent enough -
Quote:Good ending but not great. Nolan said this was the end of his trilogy/Batman run. It is so completely open ended. How long do you think he'll stay settled down? Also, do you think Catwoman is someone that would be settling down?! Nope. In this version I can see Bats taking time off and if there's ever a significant threat, he might just make a comeback. To join forces with Robin and maybe Catwoman. After all, he just came off an 8 year hiatus in the movie.Got back from Dark Knight Rises and... Honestly the movie was great until I got to the end. What a big [censored] disappointment it was. Batman quits, passes the mantle off to Robin John Blake and moves to Paris with Catwoman. I kid you not, that's how Nolan decides to end this trilogy. When I saw that ending I felt like he took a collective [censored] on the Batman mythos.
I'm sure there probably be some of you who will say "Batman didn't quit because the mantle was passed on to someone else" I don't care because as far as I'm concerned he quit. he quit because he found a gal to settle down with and some guy he could pass the job off to.
There was a line in the movie were Bane tells Bruce that he plans to kill Gotham with the deadliest poison in the world, hope. Truer words have never been said, because I had hope for this movie and instead got something that just killed me inside.
If you're a fan of Nolan you'll probably love this movie. If you're a fan of Batman, well your mileage will vary. Don't say you haven't been warned.
Yep, no probs with the ending. The movie was ok but not great. Bane was not as interesting as Joker. Dark Knight was amazing and a lot of it was due to how well the Joker was portrayed.
I'm wondering WTF happened to Bruce Wayne's health? Batman was 'retired' for 8 years. How is his health so iffy?! They should have gone with the comic story more where Bats gets beaten down and then Bane takes him out. -
Quote:Interesting experiment and I have no doubt it's lonely. I am quite sure Praetoria is dead and people rarely start there. CoHF has put the final nail in the coffin. Having another separated starting zone was a horrible idea from the start. They obviously didn't learn their lesson after CoV. Kinda odd when you consider they went to erase the separation between blu and red side with alignment change and then added the Praetorian 1-20 zones. Just odd and a big waste of maps/assets IMO.
Dear all,
I am running a little experiment. I enjoyed immensely Praetoria when it was released and I have been delighted by the expansion in lore and zones through First Ward, Night Ward and the iTrials. However, since they revamped the first levels experience in Paragon and the Rogue Isles for CoH Freedom (Sept 2011), I have found myself playing exclusively Hero/Villain content.
After one year, and with the new powersets coming out, I decided to go back to Praetoria and try to stay there as much as possible, without setting foot in Primal Earth. My Water Blast/Time Corruptor named Atlantea has been doing well, she finished all the original Praetorian arcs... it was a quite lonely ride I have to say, I think DBF has killed Praetoria just 1 year after the zones were released. Anyway, staying on topic... I changed sides as many times as possible, and ended being a Resitance member. Funny enough, both sides offered me the final mission to go to Primal Earth (Provost Marchand and Steve Sheridan). I got both for fun, tempted to do first one and go, lets say villain, then the other and go heroe, to see if I break the server.
Anyway, she didnt complete any of the two Cross the Rift thingie missions because that would break my only Praetoria experiment. Instead she went through the Praetorian underground to First Ward and I am getting missions there without problems. Blind Makwa wants me to collect something from some graves (creepy!) that are surrounded by purple enemies. So now I have resorted to the newspaper missions from Roadflare to get some levels.
I guess I will have to live in First Ward until I am lvl 30, then I can move to Night Ward... problem is, what to do after finishing Night Ward at lvl 35? Wait in the hope they release new Praetorian content that bridges the gap to lvl 50? Someone knows if I can still go to Primal Earth and join teams for missions? Or do some kind of missions in Primal Earth without being Heroe-Villain/stop being Praetorian, maybe Vanguard ones? Probably I will get stuck and finally go Primal...
I am wondering if anyone has done something similar before and what have been their experiences.
Cheers
@Arda
Your experiment would be kinda fun but I prefer to team. I also hope they don't use any additional resources for any future Praetorian content ever. Variety is the spice of life so let's change it up a bit more often -
Quote:My explanation: I'm playing a game and it has a cool mechanic that let's you team up with any level toon. 'Nuff said.I am sure a lot of people try to ignore it but do how do you explain it? Outside of Ouroboros there are many cases for exemplaring such as trials, joining low level teams, or joining a task force. Ouroboros explains it as time travel but how do you explain it in these other cases?
For my main character, he is a person that has learned to control his Ki energy. (think Dragonball Z) -- He is a SS/Fire Aura.
Part of the thing I do with him is that he has transformations similar to what Super Saiyans go through. 30-44 he gains the SS blonde hair and such... 45-50 he has blue hair and blue auras, and in Incarnate trial fully level shifted he is a purple/red.
Basically in times he holds back his power because he loves a challenge in order not to decimate his opponent in one to two blows. I also illustrate this by the changing colors.
How does your character do it? -
Quote:FINALLY the ROCK has come back to the BIG SCREEN!
Rumors have been circulating for awhile that The Rock is up for a DC movie. Most people really want him to play Black Adam if DC can ever get a SHAZAM movie going. Although he has said numerous times that he would love to do play SHAZAM's main nemesis, more recent rumors say he is in the running to play Lobo. During and online twitter chat today he calls Rock Talk, Johnson said he does indeed have Lobo on his radar.
Ravey Rae @WritingAWonder 15 Jul 12
@TheRock I'm dying to know. Are the Lobo rumors true? I've seen them all around, but nothing to confirm it. #RockTalk
. @WritingAWonder Rumors of me possibly playing LOBO are true. Joel Silver and Brad Peyton working on it now. That could be fun.. #RockTalk
Like The Rock said in the above tweet Joel Silver and Brad Peyton are currently working on the film with no release date. This is not confirmation that he has be cast in the part just that he is a strong possibility. Leave your thoughts in the comment boxes below if you think The Rock will be a good Lobo.

I like a lot of what you did but the only tough one, for me, is the ATO set. I have a glad armor proc around but the ATO set is big $. I also think you may have underslotted the radiation infection power since it is a key power for a rad. Let me see what I can do...
