I21 GC tutorial - Coyote sacked?

One of the first things I was told way back when i started was that Coyote, the NPC in the Hero tutorial who sends you on your very first instanced mission, was originally a character of a beta Player who was suffering from some debilitating disease, and who sadly passed away, and so the Devs put his avatar in the tutorial as a mark of respect.

I've always thought this a very sweet tale (apart from the dying part, obviously), and I always dwell on it for a second whenever I meet Coyote in the tutorial (I always do the tutorial). It strikes me now that it may just be a myth, of course.

I was wondering, with the new tutorial zone Galaxy City On Fire or whatever, will they be firing Coyote?

I for one hope they move him into the new tutorial zone.

I always do the same; and I believe I learned about that from an old gaming news article, I don't think it's a myth. Supposedly the player was a very active and helpful community member, but did not live to see the game post-beta. Maybe someone around here, one of the old hands, can enlighten us.

Whether Coyote ends up in Galaxy City or another zone, I just hope he sticks around in a way that's fitting for the character and player.

I can tell you it's not a myth, and he is definitely missed.

Here's hoping he comes back for the new tutorial.

"the reason there are so many sarcastic pvpers is we already had a better version of pvp taken away from us to appease bad players. Back then we chuckled at how bad players came here and whined. If we knew that was the actual voice devs would listen to instead of informed, educated players we probably would have been bigger dicks back then." -ConFlict

Something tells me that he will make an appearance in the new Galaxy Tutorial... or, if he doesn't he may get moved to Ouro to talk with Flower Knight. Both, to me, would be fine. Especially if he has appropriate dialogue if placed in Ouro.

Well, with the changing of the tutorial. Outbreak could be taken care of and Coyote makes his way to GC to help with that disaster.

Perhaps as a final contact before you move into Atlas or Mercy?

He was important enough to add to the tutorial in the first place. I have confidence in the Dev team that he will be around, somewhere.

Likewise.
Coyote was one of the first things I thought of when I heard of the new tutorial.
Is the old tutorial being completely replaced? Or is the new tutorial alongside the old?

Hmm. Well, now we know who came up with the idea of trashing Galaxy City!

Well, I imagine the ouroborus arc to tutorial would still exist.

It's true. Coyote was a long-time member of the pre-release forums and a beta tester. He was also a very nice guy.

I really hope he can continue to welcome new players to the game, just like he used to on the original forums and in beta.

A super hero mmo shares alot of similarities with super hero comics...no one ever truely dies...they just go on holiday and come back refreshed and ready to take over the world or seek revenge or just to pick up their mail

Here is to hoping Coyote sticks around somewhere. It would be a shame to lose that part of COH history.

Is there anything that says he's not the voice on the other end of this radio?

As for Isolator/Jailbird, I heard that the two badges will be two zero-cost items to buy at the new in-game store as part of teaching people how to use the store and bringing it to their attention.

Sour grapes? Much?

Oh wait! Who am I talking to!

Silly me!

Clicking on the linked image above will take you off the City of Heroes site. However, the guides will be linked back here.

The devs stated there will be two zero-costs badges in a Ustream.
You could infer from that which two badges they could be and further, that the tutorial would point people to them for the purpose of educating about the store.

I do so hope the Devs find a way to keep him visible in the game some where. I have been around since beta, and this, to me, is a very important part of the game.

OK, here's the thing:

Is the FC building the Phalanx's current HQ or not? Twice in the comics, a similar looking building was suggested to be.

Their previous HQ was destroyed in Boomtown. They're not having good luck with that.

If they were based out of the Freedom Corps building, that could explain why they're all in Fort Trident now, and why the Phalanx aren't being very effective from levels 1-50; they're still regrouping from Galaxy.

If not, maybe the FC building has been incorporated into Atlas's redesign. Because it always bothered me anyone can walk into Recluse's boardroom, but we never see the Freedom Phalanx's HQ. Or Manticore's mansion. Or Statesman's restaurant, which supposedly still exists.
