Quote:Saturday or Sunday mornings first showing are usually dead and the prices are much lower...skip the over priced drink/food and its a win!2 tickets - $22.50 at the cheaper of the big theatres, which also tends to play the more artsy/crappy movies.
Add on drinks and whatever else and you're likely hitting $40 to see a movie once.
BluRay - $20-30 to buy or $5 to rent.
I can watch movies again and again, so it's not really a hard choice, and yet I do like to go to the theatre once in awhile. Just wish they'd give us some incentive to do so.
As for the film I skipped the trailer but will be there to see it on a Sat/Sun morning -
Quote:Your not alone...most of my crew had a similar discussion about this subject last nite in game...all longtime vets and not a one of them posts on these boards and rarely use them. As ive been told on numerous occasions the boards represent a minority of the in game community.Fair points all around and I can't say I disagree with them. But given the large amount of long-time subscribers this game has, I honestly don't think i'm as isolated a case as certain people in this thread are making out.
I love the game and enjoy the board community/family...however much like life there are members of this community/family that i do not plan on visiting at their home-in a van-down by the river! they could say the same about me except i dont live by a river...however i digress and yes u are not alone.

I happend to catch the premier last nite of ABC's new show and it was fairly decent. However knowing that two of Lost's writters were on board i was expecting a fair amount of suspense and more importantly lots of un-answered questions...which it didnt really deliver. I did like the concept and look forward to future shows.
So what are your thoughts...and good morning also -
Once the majority of VIP's are either down to 400 pts or less it will be available for 800 pts on the market immediately there after...we need to keep the market fresh i can hear it now! So either wait a month or two until we have the points or splurge and buy points which i believe marketing is betting on!
Now if its free(doubtful) i like a december time frame -
I'm guessing we should be saving our points for when Titan weapons land...at 800pts thats like two months of points we better have saved...or wait two more months after its launched to get it for pay--opps free! It might be nice if they could let us know some general time lines other than soon/when its ready so we can plan on saving for the new sets and or if they will be free or points needed!

Quote:Very true...i knew something like this was goona happen when they pulled back StJ in beta...for me its a money grab plan and simple...for others maybe not and im happy for you. I'll buy the set in Dec. when i have the points built up...however there will be other things coming out in mid/late Dec. that will be grabbing some of my playing time and Xmas is the other oneYes, you can make the case that we're given points every month. I spent mine on beam rifle, but had I known street justice was right around the corner I would have held out for that instead. So even with the free points I've been given, I would still have to pay out of pocket to be able to use all the new powers right away. Otherwise, if I want if for free I have to wait two months until I've built up enough "free" points to purchase it. The way I see it, VIP players should not lose anything that they would have gotten under the old business model. I don't feel like a very important person when I still have to pay for things that previously would have been given to us.

Well I'll just pick up my fabulous Sun-sword and go home and play with Princess Ariel and Ookla!!!

I like to visualize Brad Wesley listening to "Sh-boom" by The Crew Cuts as he swerves back and forth across the lanes of a typical Missouri country road..."hey is that Dalton approaching?...hmm he will move"
Now thats a ride in the country!

The series just keeps on getting better and better...i hope it will last
-
They've done studies and 60% of the time it works everytime

Ok two pretty good episodes down...i do have one observation/question...if i remember correcty in the original(ill have to watch some of my dvd's for conformation)when Lion-o did the old "Thunder...Thunder...Thunder Cats Hoooo" among several things the cats recieved a "power up" with the whole eyes glowing effects and they became faster/stronger for a brief time or am i remembering incorrectly? Now i saw Lion-o do this once in the new series and either i missed the "power up" or it wasnt a big deal

Thanks again peeps, i think ill buy and install the below until i have enough cash to build a second box
MSI N560GTX-TI Twin Frozr II/OC GeForce GTX 560 Ti (Fermi) 1GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Support Video Card
It looks to be in the $240 range which is in my budget and will hopefully allow me to push the games graphics close if not to the limit -
The first was ok but ill wait til its a rental

Quote:Yep i usually do this with brutes/scraps/stalkers...i do have a few doms and trollers that can handle it however they are more fun teamed so not as muchI do it exactly the same way, unless the character has no stealth capability, just on the off chance the end boss will drop the tip.
-
Quote:Ok one more quick question the above GTX 560 Ti will run on my current motherboard? The PCIe spec's concern me. If so i can upgrade my current box and then build a new second box in December/Jan timeframeAs for video cards, your GT 240 was already low middle end when it came out. At the very least I would recommend a 1GB GTX 460 (not SE version, yuck). They are around $170-220 before rebates. It's about 2.5-2.7x faster than the GT 240 according to TechPowerUP across a wide variety of games. The next step about that, IMO, is the GTX 560 Ti. It's price starts around $240 before rebates and is roughly 25-30% faster than the 1GB GTX 460.
Current board:
ASUS, P5N32-E SLI, LGA775, nForce 680i SLI, 1333MHz FSB, DDR2-800 8GB /4, PCIe x16 SLI /3, SATA 3Gb/s RAID 5 /6, HDA, GbLAN /2, FW /2, ATX
Thanks again! -
Quote:Same here...I skip thru the mish to the end ko the boss or glowie then work my way back one drops in the first or second grp usually. Then move to the tip mish and rinse/repeat. Granted i only do this with sturdy solo friendly toons...my support toons are teamed always. I believe 3 radio's without a tip dropping is my longest losing streak. If I plow Radio's it seems to drop a lot quicker than if I speed them.
After my 5 tips are run its back to running arc's! -
Quote:I do the same...plus there are so many second accounts out there...i think my retired second account hit the 30ish mark when i cancelled itI must admit I also like to look at other people's badges in-game. But I do my best to not assume anything about how well a given player can play the game. I've seen people who only have a few Vet badges play very well and I've also seen 80+ month "vets" who seem semi-clueless. Just don't let yourself tricked into thinking a person's badges mean anything else than how much time a player has "wasted" earning badges.
-
-
Dumb question...I always enjoy checking out team-mates(bing)...I also like to see what badges her/she/other have earned so will we still be able to see how many months they have been playing or will that go bye-bye?
-
Thanks so much peeps for the valuable info...im starting to look at the costs and I may keep my orignal pc as is and build a second. I could then let my daughter use my original pc running with lower vid settings which dosnt bother her and then either re-activate her CoX account or wait to free to play kicks starts...she is 9 and it would make a pretty good Xmas gift along with some new gifts as well(im not a 100% re-gifter/cheapo).
Father Xmas the pc u have in your sig for $1350 looks like it would get up and go once put together...is there anything you would change out on it to make it last me another 4yrs or until the next gen in vid cards comes out?
Thanks again all...drinks in Pocket D are on me -
Great start thanks...here are more of my spec's:
COOLERMASTER, CM Stacker 830 (RC-830) Silver Tower Case, EATX, No PSU, Aluminum
OCZ, ProXStream 1000W Power Supply, 24-pin ATX12V EPS12V, Quad +12V, Multi-GPU Ready, Dual CPU Support
Budget wise im looking at two options that i would like suggestions for
1. Low budget $500 = buy this or that?
2. High budget $1000 = buy these in this order?
Upgrading the card would seem to the best option but if it will only bring in a small return because my cpu is on the slow end then mabe upgrading the motherboard/chip would seem the way to go?
Also could i upgrade the cpu and use my existing board or is that not a wise investment.
Thanks again -
Ok hardware guru's below i have some of the spec's from a pc i built in '07 and wondered what i should upgrade? I had to tweak down my video/ultra mode settings some time ago and would like to crank my settings up however when i do i get alot of lag. So other than reading the guides on ultra mode is there anything u could recommend. Thanks in advance.
