I always thought Offspring "Bad Habit" was a good driving song.

Also, White Zombie's "Dragula" and Kid Rock's "Ba Wit Da Ba"

Rock is not my forte, but I'm surprised no one has mentioned Tom Petty's "Running Down a Dream" yet. As an added bonus, it mentions another good driving song, Dell Shannon's "Runaway."

"Bombarding the CoH/V fora with verbosity since January, 2006"

Djinniman, level 50 inv/fire tanker, on Victory
-and 40 others on various servers

Do you mean songs associated with driving and/or cars, or just something up-tempo (and apparently rock/metal)? Because I can go either rock or mellow, the latter allowing me to get into the groove of a long haul cross-country trip.

Driving Home by Cheryl Wheeler (mellow)

Hair of the Dog by Nazareth (Supernatural clips)

Highway to Hell by AC/DC (official Iron Man 2 vid)

Running On Empty by Jackson Brown

Running Down A Dream by Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers

Foreplay/Long Time by Boston (must have)

I've Been Everywhere by Johnny Cash

Magic Power by Triumph (good way to start a driving mix; slow start that builds to a crescendo)

Rosalita by Bruce Springsteen

Cobrastyle by The Teddybears

Don't Stop Me Now by Queen

The Alt Alphabet ~ OPC: Other People's Characters ~ Terrific Screenshots of Cool ~ Superhero Fiction

Not a mention of Midnight Rider by the Allman Brothers Band yet, huh? I'm speechless. I know some of you know better...

I'll also confess to the following:
Do It Again by Steely Dan
September by Earth, Wind, and Fire

(The last one's the only disco song I'll allow in my car - and I'm really ticked that I can't find a recording that does justice to the brass section)

I like just about any Manowar album, Queen compilation, or Queensrÿche's Operation Mindcrime album for riding/driving. Though I might occasionally get in a TMBG or Rammstein mood. And then there are those times when I have to throw in the original Mortal Kombat album, to reassure myself that Johnny Cage is not, in fact, afraid to die.

And a little Dio every now and then couldn't hurt...

Goodbye may seem forever
Farewell is like the end
But in my heart's the memory
And there you'll always be
