  1. Unfortunately, I won't be able to make this one. The new wife and I will be flying back from our Honeymoon that day, and then we need to get packing for our move up to Boston. Still, I hope you all have a great time!
  2. Yeah, I haven't logged in since the other night. A bunch of us got together on Pinnacle and took down Hami. Was a fun time, but I think that doing one of the bigger challenges in the game sort of made me think that it was a good place to stop.

Using Storm Kick again during the 10-second duration will reset the timer on it. So if you can land it again before the timer runs out, you can have a perma 10% +Def effect on you.
  4. Also means that it's probably something we won't know unless NCSoft directly tells us. Which I don't think will happen.

I kinda want to punch whoever came up with the whole, complex Threat mechanic right in the face. It's just too cumbersome, and should be much simpler. The fact that it's in such a huge spreadsheet I think is a major problem, even if it doesn't really matter in practice.
  6. Invuln and Shield actually have stronger aggro auras than the damage ones, to help make up for this a bit. Ice doesn't get this bonus because it has two auras. And Willpower and SR got shafted.

Unless you want to claim NCSoft made stealth server upgrades right after claiming they closed the game, but that'd be quite out there on the insanity scale, even by the standards you've set...
Server loads is more than just population, though. Not saying there are more, the same, or less people, just that server loads aren't an exact match of population. There could be a lot of people on, just not doing much but standing around. People running missions probably increases server load more than just standing around.

  9. Hmmm...I may still have some contact information lying around. I'll take a look into it.
  10. I really hope we find out more about the Reeds in the next couple of books. The idea of a floating city in the marshes just sounds cool to me.
  11. So who else here remembers being able to herd the entirety of a zone into a dumpster and killing everyone with a single attack?

Who else here remembers the days when the various armors didn't stack, so you had to choose between status protection and actual defenses? Although, sometimes it didn't matter because at the time, running something like Wet Ice gave you enough Defense with Energy Absorption to Tank everything anyways.

Who else remembers when armor sets had mez holes that could detoggle you? I'm looking at you, Ice Armor, with your sleep hole back in the day.

I look back on all of the changes that have happened over the course of the game in regards to Tanks, and wonder how the heck I could have done it "back in the day." But we all did. And most of us did it well, despite all of the limitations that game had on us back then, we still took the hits for the rest of the team.

So this is a thread for all of us old-timers to remember our impressive feats despite all of our weaknesses at one point, and to remember the overpowered-ness of other times in the game's history.

-Remember when Unyielding and Rooted didn't let you move AT ALL? I remember back when I started that every Invuln Tanker had Teleport just so they could keep their status protection up and still move around.

-Remember when Invincibility was giving twice the Defense it should have because it double-stacked from itself (and then remember when the Devs lowered the +Def it gave because of this, and then fixed the self-stacking bug but didn't give it the old Defense value back).

-Remember when we had only four primaries to choose from?

-Remember when you could one-shot kill yourself by gathering the entire zone's group of enemies into a dumpster, and then use Energy Transfer to hit 500 enemies at once, giving you massive XP, but killing yourself in the process. The original Self-Destruct button.

-Remember when you could get 100% resistance to damage types, and you could go up against +20s, and never get hurt.

-Remember being so slot poor before ED when you were trying to 6-slot all of your armors and still have some left over for attacks.

-Remember when we all (including the Devs) thought that Taunt was an actual status effect? "You need twice as much Taunt to steal aggro." Umm...not so much.

-Remember how boring it was to only be able to fight at +0/1 difficulty, at which point you'd never die, but couldn't really progress that fast, either?

-Remember when the Devs gave us more enemies to fight in the lower levels (Outcasts, etc.) that used damage types that Tankers didn't have protection against at those levels.

And I still think of these as "the good old days"!
  12. She may have given birth to a stillborn daughter, but it says nothing of her giving birth to twins or not.
  13. I feel like there have been more people on Pinnacle now than there were before the announcement.
  14. Why didn't they sell the game? Because they'd sell the IP with it, and they might want to make a CoH2 in the future, so why would they do that?

They might have killed off a revenue stream, but it might not have been big enough for it to be worth investing in, according to them. From a business standpoint, just making money isn't always enough, if you can get a better return on investment if you put the money elsewhere.
  15. I'd love a LotG 7.5%, if some are still available. @Aett Thorn.
  16. Was there ever a plan to have a "Vigilante" super group. Some of the comments and questions here seem to point to a lot of the signature heroes and villains being close to switching sides. Lady Liberty, Manticore, and Scirroco teaming up?

Was there ever a plan to put story content in Boomtown, Crey's Folly, Perez Park, and Eden? With the "you are now seeing the world through X's view", I would think that you could have actually put a story arc in Crey's Folly where you clean things up, and the water becomes blue again.

Who were the Devs' favorite NPC characters? What were their favorite story arcs?

    Best question so far!
  18. Can we get some data dive info from you guys as well as lore stuff?

How many of each AT were created over the life of the game?

What was the overall most popular origin?

More male or female characters created?

    etc., etc.

    Villain Players

    Crack is a helluva drug.
  20. Depends on how other things were handled. I'm an alt-oholic, so it's not like I'd mind having to make new characters.

But all of the various powers I've picked up along the years that my level 1 characters get sure make the low levels easier. I don't know if they'd be a total game-changer or not, but they are nice.
  21. Tundara and I waged a three-year war to get Ice Melee fixed.

    Where are you?

I'm on the map! And not far from several other players, apparently.
  23. Edit -> First off, I'd like to thank you for doing this. We know that you didn't need to, and are really appreciative that you are so considerate of the fans that you would take the time to answer our lore questions like this. It really does solidify my thoughts of you guys as Class A game designers, and where ever you guys get jobs, you might not find me far behind.

Was there anything planned for a Boomtown remake?

What were the rocket launch pads going to be used for, and when were they officially abandoned by the Dev team?

Can you show us any images of what the Battalion were going to look like?

What were the next few incarnate slots going to be?

After the Battalion, what was the next "big idea" that was going to come down the road, if you had thought that far ahead?
  24. The Devs are going to be hosting a Q&A period coming up in the next few days where they discuss the lore and similar questions. We will probably hear the answer to this there.
