Best driving songs....

Now normally anything smacking of "country" is about as repellent to me as a garlic-smothered stake dinner with a holy water chaser while being beaten about the head and shoulders with a cross is to vampires.

But Jo Dee Messina's "Bye Bye" is a pretty drivable song.

Clicking on the linked image above will take you off the City of Heroes site. However, the guides will be linked back here.

What, no Chuck Berry yet? "No Particular Place to Go" is the best for driving. Not to mention "Johnny B. Goode."

"Fun Fun Fun" by the Beach Boys too.

Some appreciation for the real classics, please.

Queensrÿche's Operation Mindcrime album for riding/driving
same here.

I also have a Black Label Society/ Zakk Wylde compilation that has the Ozzy with Randy Rhodes 'Crazy Train' tossed in just because.

When I really want to start things off with a bang, I pop in some Spineshank and que up 'Synthetic'....(Youtube it, if you don't remember/ know the song)

I have a lot of driving music because I'm in a long-distance relationship. But the best? Hmmn.

Go find 'Silver Plated' by Geoff Byrd...and check out the rest of Byrd's music while you're at it. That's the first song I think of when I think of music that's good on a car drive.

"Traveling on plastic and chrome, burning all the dinosaurs' bones..."

Life is funny. Death is funnier. Mass slaughter can be hilarious.

Back in my college days, this one would quadruple my chances for a speeding ticket: Foo Fighters' Everlong.

edit:

Also, keeping in theme with Deadmau5, VH1 by Linus Loves, Road to Recovery by Midnight Juggernauts, and Swing Tree by Discovery would make for some good driving tunes.

For a change of pace, Two Weeks by Grizzly Bear works for a nice mellow mood.

I like to visualize Brad Wesley listening to "Sh-boom" by The Crew Cuts as he swerves back and forth across the lanes of a typical Missouri country road..."hey is that Dalton approaching?...hmm he will move" Now thats a ride in the country!

For good laidback roadtrip music you can't beat Widespread Panic's Everyday or Space Wrangler albums.

The Weakerthans - Aside
The Pixies - Where is My Mind?
Neon Trees - Animal
The Killers - All These Things That I've Done
Audioslave - I Am the Highway
Guns N' Roses - Sweet Child O' Mine
Dropkick Murphies - Shipping off to Boston
MGMT - Time to Pretend
ACDC - Highway to Hell; Black is Black
Creedence Clearwater - Have You Ever Seen the Rain; Born on the Bayou
Cheap Trick - Surrender
Filter - Take a Picture
Lynyrd Skynyrd - Sweet Home Alabama
Journey - Don't Stop Believing
