I can live with that. What I am not happy about is the response that boils down to "Dude that sucks. Sorry."
  2. So I've been playing STO primarily since we got the announcement here. For the most part I've been having fun.

However, recently I ran into a bit of a glitch. The fact that things poofed out of my inventory that shouldn't have is not the issue.

The issue is the horrible customer support. I always got good customer service while playing CoH. The bar from this game is something I doubt any other company can live up to.

Just wanted to say what I've been finding out, and that is that Cryptic/Perfect World has HORRIBLE customer service.

I'll update this is they make good and solve the issue. But, I've seen other similar posts and it really looks like the CS answer is:

    Sucks to be you.

I found it rather interesting that Perfect World Entertainment has an F rating from the Better Business Bureau. See here:

And for those interested here is my issue:

Just an FYI for those considering were to go.
  3. Just finished the arc. It had a good ending I think. I will recommend it.

Just a quick note: There is a pretty good typo in the last mission.

The clue says: Find the door in the READ of GIFT. I am assuming that should be Rear door.
  4. For anyone considering Star Trek Online there is a Fleet (like a Super Group) over there entirely made up of current and former CoH players. You can check out our forum page:

    Paragon Expeditionary Fleet
    pef.guildportal.com

You can join global channel CoX (case sensitive) and say you're looking for a fleet. Or you can let us know on our forum. Either way there are friendly and helpful people there.
BTW, the CoX global channel is for both CO and STO. Both Cryptic games can chat with each other.
The Paragon Expeditionary Fleet (and our "Red Side" KDF Fleet Arachnos Armada) are a part of this Community that is staying together.
  5. An amazing video, thank you. And thank you for including one of my characters in the video. I saw one of my villains Arachnos Agent in the Pocket D sequence.

And while I can't imagine him dancing, he's always been to angry for that, maybe it is time he did. Thank you.
  6. I tried to edit my post. However, the forum just logged me out and said I couldn't. I thought I would make that a clickable link.

    pef.guildportal.com
  7. We now have a forum page. Please go to:

    pef.guildportal.com

Check out the web page in progress. While you're there make sure to register and say hello.
  8. Anyone have links to a place online that can make a custom figure (or statue) of a CoH hero?
  9. Just wanted to let people know that at STO launch a bunch of CoH players made a fleet.

It is called Paragon Fleet. We are still up and running and currently growing. It is a welcoming place to be with like minded souls and refugees.

The best way to find us (if you are playing Star Trek Online) is to join the global chat channel:

    CoX

(case sensitive). Just ask in there if anyone is around to send invites and we'll get you right on board.

Hope to hear from some CoH Captains soon.

BTW, I am @draugadan over there (and here, and in CO, go figure).

    See... perfect explanation for that.

It is because all I bothered to read was All Access... and... well...

    Oops.

I'll repost in the right spot.

  12. I have bought 3 lifetime subs. None of them were over $300. $500 or $1000 is far, far too much for me. It doesn't matter how good a deal it is, that still ends up being too much to put out at once for a video game.
  13. This sounds like a nightmare to me. No control over a vehicle? My vehicle being controlled by some central agency? No thanks.
About the license thing, I can see the Government going for this. In the scenario described in the article the Government will know where every car is at all times. That means they know where all the people are at all times. Again... no thanks.
  14. I just jumped off Marvel (and DC) comics. Only thing I will be getting now is the Walking Dead trade when it comes out.

There was a lot of potatoes and not a great deal of meat between mid 2007 and mid 2010

(The really annoying aspect is that the Mission Architect was so gorram close to getting things right: if they'd put a bit more (i.e. any) effort into searching and navigating arcs and if they'd been more tight-fisted with the AE rewards it really could have worked great.)
This. I don't think it was MA specifically. It was the fact that there was very little story introduced for quite some time. I know I posted about it quite a lot. I even talked to DEVs about it at the couple of CoH Cons I went to.
    I see it this way:

Issue 11: Ouroboros and hair and very rare IOs. November 2007
Issue 12: Cimerora and VEATs May 2008
Issue 13: Day Jobs and new IOs October 2008
Issue 14: MA and PvP IOs March 2009
Issue 15: Updates MA, Costumes, Dominator June 2009
Issue 16: Power Customization and New CC August 2009
Issue 17: QoL improvements 2 new Story Arcs April 2010
Issue 18: Alignment System August 2010
Going Rogue: Ummm... Going Rogue August 2010

So I don't think it was MA per se. However, what I think happened was a general feeling that CoH wasn't providing any new content.
I remember somewhere in the middle of that a big forum "discussion" about what constituted content.
But for those that like story there was very little story content added to the game from issue 11 to issue 18.
And I think that when a number of people saw Issue 16 they decided that it was enough. I remember at the time comments from a number of people that the DEVs put in MA because they had given up on providing story content themselves. Not saying I belive that. And it doesn't matter what the reality is. Because peoples perception of reality is all that matters.
While I have never unsubed the game, I was still pretty down on it during that time.
There were wonderful SYSTEMs added to the game during that time. And I understand in hindsight that the lack of story content was because of the work on Going Rogue.
I think when you look at the issues above, and compare it to the drop in revenue it is easy to see why. Again, not because of MA. But, rather because of a lack of real story content.
Basically people get tired of playing the same stories again and again.

The first thing I thought of was, wouldn't it be cool if there were helicopters and jets flying around?

I talked to one of our animators, and this was on a Friday when no producers were around (<_< >_>). He grabbed the helicopter geometry we already had and animated the blades to spin. I spent a while trying to figure out how to get the thing to patrol on a regular path. I used all the new techniques we had developed - patrol routes, unique behaviors, etc. But in the end, the helicopter patrol just wasn't smooth enough; it was jerky and would stop at each patrol point for 1/10th of a second, but that was long enough to bug me. I was banging my head against my desk trying to figure out HOW to get a smooth patrol path. Then, it hit me. Not the desk, but a realization.

    The blimp in Atlas Park.

I did some archaeological digging and found out how that blimp worked, and discovered it was a simple but robust system. Soon enough, I had helicopters and jets flying around in the tutorial. And then, just to help add to the idea that things are going down, I added the helicopter into Atlas. To keep it consistent, I also added (I'm pretty sure) another one in Perez Park, since it's supposed to be flying over to Galaxy City.

It's a small thing, but it was something that I was really excited when I found out how it worked and that it could be used in a lot of different ways to help worlds feel more alive.
    Awesome story.

One of the odd always wish I could have things was being able to stand on the blimp and ride it around. I think that was my first disappointment in CoH when I finally got a character that could fly and tried to land on the blimp only to slide off. lol...
I've always looked up longingly to the blimp thinking one day.
  17. Just thought I would mention that one of the CO DEVs just now jumped into the CoX Channel over on CO and gave a pretty nice welcome to everyone there. It was basically a welcome and so very sorry for what happened to CoH. Then he stayed awhile and answered questions.
Afterwards a number of people joined him on a team and they are now out xp'ing...
I just thought it was a nice gesture. I figured I would let folks here know, that at least one of the DEVs over there appreciates our plight.

    Ascendant!!!

I got a virus warning trying to go to the link in that Ascendant post.
  19. I have had a lifetime sub to both CO and STO. At launch a bunch of us CoH players made a global channel over there so we could keep together.

It is the channel a lot of people are joining. So if you want to connect with other CoH players on CO or STO then join global channel CoX. It is really active with lots of people there to help.

One really cool things about Cryptics global channels is that one global will allow you to talk to people in both CO and STO at the same time. This morning I was on STO helping a person that was playing CO.
  20. Just letting people know about this in case they missed it.

Join channel CoX on CO or STO.
  21. Just to let everyone know. The biggest CoH channel to join in either CO or STO is the CoX channel. It has the most CoH players. It was created right at launch of the games.

And... in case you didn't know, that global allows a person to talk to people in both STO and CO.

There are a few other channels started, but CoX is the largest. That is where you'll be able to get the most help.

I know there is a CORP channel, and sounds like a good one, but that is not a channel of CoX past and present players.

So if you are moving make sure to say hello. There are a lot of people of the CoX channel waiting to help out in which ever game you pick.
  22. For those interested in STO I am in a fleet there made about the time STO launched made up of current and former CoX players.

Just join channel CoX say hello and you'll find help.
  23. Positron,

Please let us know someway what game you are working on next. So long as it isn't WoW, or anything fantasy (I'm tired of the genre) related I would love to be a customer over there.
I didn't always like everything about every issue, but I did stay with this game from the beginning, since beta. (Only break is sub I had was a 2 week period when I was in Iraq and couldn't get resub'd right away.)

If your next project is anything like this one then I will definately want to experience that.

Yep, I remember that. It is the story part I was wondering about. It was one of the suggested Epic ATs along with the Avilians. There was a third I think that I don't remember.
