I21 GC tutorial - Coyote sacked?
But I feel like in the 7 intervening years there have been plenty of helpful players around who should be given a similar honor in the new tutorial. I don't think it should be put to player vote or even nominations. The devs should pick someone(s) to honor that represents the 7 years the Live community has shaped the game.

Coyote is a nice, fitting tribute. Don't take him out, keep him in. But in my opinion, he should be a one-off special case, already established by history. It just wouldn't be the same if others started popping up.
By the way, a couple of details to mop up: Coyote's ("Kiyotee" on the forums) real name was Matthew Bragg, and the name of the random cop model he replaced was Detective Wright. I started around Issue 1, and I remember seeing him. I'll see if I can wonk up Officer Wright in a demorecord sometime using the original game client files in case anyone's curious.
We've been saving Paragon City for eight and a half years. It's time to do it one more time.

I'm going to take a slightly different tack. It's good to know Coyote is staying around. I disagree. I hope they never do it again. If they do it even one more time, then there's going to be a clamor to open the doors for every player who passes away to be put into the game. It's a no-win situation. You can't draw a line to determine who was "helpful enough" or who didn't quite make the cut. There would be very bad feelings all around. And I guarantee you that at some point, someone is going to fake their own death to get into the game. Yes, people really are that scummy.

Slippery slope arguments don't really hold a lot of water even in reasonable cases, but go so far as saying someone would fake their own death to get in the game, I think it's safe to say you're pushing it to make a point.

I want more Coyote. Have him team up with Blue Steel.
I hope Flower Knight shows up too - and Officer Flint still needs to be arround, just to try in with the Precinct 5 tutorial

Would be nice, but frankly I wouldn't be surprised to see it overlooked as we have an almost completely different design team.

Just my thoughts.
While the in-game Coyote is indeed a tribute to Mathew Bragg and the impact that he had on the community during his time here...
I think this one tribute to him, in a way, represents the best of us all.
No one else needs such a tribute... we have Coyote and that speaks to the community, past through present and (hopefully) into the future, for us to all strive to be the best we can and continue the legacy of being together in this fun ride. All others who are so deserving of such remembrance are equally a part of the tribute that this game's developers have already implemented.
This tribute displays that our actions, efforts and personalities transcend us simply being players, subscribers, developers, designers, fictional-heroes, pixels... and that it all directly impacts the game world that we all share (and beyond).
And that the developers recognize this and were so impacted by Mathew Bragg... and he shall remain a tribute to the best we can hope to be within our community.
Just my thoughts, upon reflection.

A thought occurs to me.
As cool as it is to see Coyote in the tutorial, it seems odd that as much impact as the player had on the community, his memorial is limited to an NPC you talk to once and forget about for the rest of the game. Not even a mention aside from one mission taking place in the same zone. What happened? Is every hero's first day the day Coyote's warranty expires? Does he get sucked into a vortex the moment you choose your first trainer?
It doesn't sound right that the Freedom Phalanx can memorialize fallen heroes with ENORMOUS statues, but don't stop to remember the guy training the heroes backing them up. A moment of reflection to their days as a rookie. A mention of watching him AS a rookie help fellow newbies learn the ropes. Debating whether they should get him anything for his birthday or send him a card. Something to acknowledge that this person that everyone meets on day one actually exists beyond day one.
On that note, I'd also vote for replacing one of the bronze status in City Hall, possibly one of the ones in the corridor leading to the origin contacts, with one of Coyote. As if Coyote's somehow "leading" new heroes in the right direction and "watching" them dash off to met their first days on the job.

That's given me an interesting thought. In the introductory missions for Ouroborus, we have to travel back to Outbreak and rescue Coyote and the cops (sounds like a band). Anyway, its clearly stated that your character has previously done this before. So, if the initial Outbreak goes away, do we change to a different initiation in Ouroborus?

I thought it was stated somewhere that the introductory Oro arc was being revamped as well.
Its always nice to see things like this happen. I remember Coyote (was spelled Kiyote or something like that) from beta and I'm glad that he's still about in some form. It was a surprise to see him in the tutorial when I finally joined the game about a year after release. Even more of a surprise when I found out what had happened to him.
hmm does bring up another thought.. I wonder how many others of the first 100 are still around... that and that I'm glad Dim Shaft didn't stick as a nickname for Dim shift ((that beta rant was not one of my finer moments ))
