  1. Thanks again for all of your hard work. You're the best community manager CoH ever had and one of the best CMs I've encountered in any game.

You have a bright future ahead!
  2. Thanks, Cuppa, for the years you spent herding us cats.

    To all of you...

Thank you, Andy. You were the best community manager this game ever had.
  4. This is a good idea, Tony. If it gets off the ground, I can provide some financial support.

  6. Thanks so much to all of the great developers who worked on CoH. Your wonderful ideas and creations have kept me entertained for nearly nine years.

From the incredible character creator to the wild ideas behind the game's NPCs and backstory, from Task Forces to Invention Origin enhancements, from Atlas Park to the Shadow Shard; thank you for your creativity and dedication to this amazing game!

Good luck in the great things that I know you'll create in your next game.

    Until we meet again,

  7. Glad to see there will be a way to earn the ATIOs in the game instead of only being able to buy them.

I don't have strong feelings about the costume pieces. From what I've seen, they look good and I would probably buy them, however I won't be buying the super packs. I don't spend money on uncertain outcomes (well, there is that whole stock market thing that I do with my retirement money, but that's a little different).

Exactly. This is why I don't like enhancements being sold in the store. Especially when they scale better than what can be earned in the game.

The way to avoid something like this is to keep goals in game which take time and patience to meet as things that require said time and patience. Otherwise, you undermine the integrity of progression which will ultimately lead to the death of the game as a whole. This is not something I want to see- I really enjoy this game.
It started with some common IOs. Now it's rare IOs, including the highly desired LotGs. How long until purples are for sale? Or incarnate salvage?

Look, I don't complain about these things being sold because I cannot afford them. I'm far from poor. Just a few months ago, I dropped a few thousand dollars to fly across the country with my wife, stay in a nice hotel and go to PAX. I'm blessed to have much more money in my life than I need. I'm happy to pay for content, to have new areas to play in the game, new things to do in the game. But, I don't like buying the game's rewards. To me, getting rewards and improving my character is one of the main reasons for playing the game.

If you pass up the deal and change your mind later and decide to stay, though, it will be too late and you'll be out two free months you could have had.
Oh, yeah. I forgot about that. Thanks!
  10. Thanks for the heads-up, Tony.

Personally, I subscribe a year at a time, but I don't think I'll be taking advantage of the bonuses this time around. I'm not feeling very confident in the game this days.

If others want to extend their sub and save some money, more power to 'em.

And, Commander, the extra time you purchase with these deals DOES get added to the end of your current subscription.

Leveling up is optional. Doing task forces is optional. The incarnate system is optional. That doesn't justify anything.

Most of the stuff on the market I could care less about, but the invention system is a crucial pillar of the game system. If it becomes, more and more, an element of the Paragon store, I think the long-term impacts are going to negative, both for the community and the company. It has nothing to do with me "keeping up", and everything to do with wanting the game system to remain meaningful.
The enhancements on the market are BETTER than what you can earn in the game. It's frustrating that players cannot earn the same level of power in the game.

In the past, I bought a few of the sets market previously released just because they're better than other versions, but I won't make that mistake again. It seems to have encouraged the company to sell items that are even more powerful.

Between this and the gambling packs, I'm pretty disillusioned with CoH right now.
  13. The way to improve super packs is to gut them.
    • Take all of the rewards exclusive to super packs and give players a way to earn them in-game, without spending real money.
    • Make the same rewards available in the Paragon Market to be purchased a la carte.
    • Keep the price of the random roll super packs very low. Maybe a dollar for one pack.

With these changes, people can play the game and earn the same rewards by spending their time instead of their money; they can purchase the items outright in the real money store; or they can gamble in an attempt to get the items at a cheaper price.

We were told CoH Freedom would be about choice. This gives players a choice instead of making them feel like walking wallets.

Agreed. Random rewards for spending real money is like gambling. I don't gamble because I don't like to lose money.

This is superior to the functionality of in-game level 50 IOs (whose set bonuses shut off at 46) or level 30 IOs (whose enhancement values stay at the level 30 value when at level 50). Though there are level ranges and exemplar levels where the in-game ones are slightly better enhancement-wise, these IOs are almost always superior to in-game IOs with respect to set bonuses.
Yep. I said the same thing in freedom beta. These scaling IOs are more powerful than what is otherwise available in the game.

I'd love to see all IOs function this way. I've bought some of the resistance IOs. They work great. However, I don't like these being available only through the store.

Personally, I like being able to buy more things, but I do want to make sure I don't get less for my subscription cost. So far, it's been fine. I expect that to continue, but I will be paying attention.
  17. I've run through SSA missions several times since Tuesday's patch and was able to choose Alignment Merits.

An issue with the Tailor makes it impossible to change the costume of characters who have weapon based power sets equipped.
It's pretty frustrating. I spent $5.00 on new costume pieces and couldn't use them until I came to the forums to find a workaround. I'm sure it'll be fixed soon (again), but geeze, it's annoying.

    EDIT:
So much for the workaround. Doesn't work on my DP/traps corrupter.
(removed reference to losing influence. it doesn't seem to be charging for the failed changes.)
  19. 1) SS/WP brute

    2) Elec/Kin corruptor

Both have nice AOE and are very fun to play.
  20. I noticed this today. Pretty neat.

I use a Logitech G330 headset. It's only about $30 and has a decent mic you can use for ventrillo.

I hear all kinds of neat sound effects in the game with my headphones that I never hear through my speakers.
  22. I am loving Street Justice, even more than I thought I would. I was surprised to discover that this IS the set I've been asking for since beta.

My new StJ character is only level 24ish, but I'm very happy with the animations and the sound effects. However, I wear headphones most of the time that I'm playing so I might hear things a little differently that people listening through speakers.

You might want to fix the available responses to question 14.
