Holiday Bonus Time

Hey community reps, in your Black Friday sale announcement, you forgot to mention one HUGE incentive that was sent in the announcement e-mails that will be of intense interest to most VIPs: the Holiday Bonus Game Time sale. Hopefully it will be officially announced here soon.

For you VIPs out there who may not have gotten or digested the e-mail, here's the important part:

The "Get Bonus Game Time" link is currently broken, but presumably it will be up by the time the offer goes live, next Monday. This is a HUGE deal, because if you subscribe for the entire year at a time, though it's a little pricey with the one-shot hit to your bank account, the monthly cost for a VIP subscription, if I recall correctly, is a little over $10 per month, which is a significant discount. If you're like me and know that you're going to be around until the servers go dark, it's a hella awesome deal.

If your existing time doesn't lapse until, say, next April or whatever, you can still take advantage of the deal. Follow the link and sign up, and it will tack the 7/14 months on whenever your current time expires. You'll also be billed when your current time expires, not when you sign up. If you sign up for it and change your mind before your existing time runs out, you can always opt out between then and when you're billed.

You'll also get whatever bonuses apply to paid subscription time for 7/14 months when you're billed.

Keep in mind that all of those nitty-gritty details are based on the past couple of years. This is how I maintain my subscription, and it really is a bargain. With the discount you get on the yearly subscription fee plus the two months thrown in for free, you can save over $50 per year this way.

Edit: I've removed the link to Get Bonus Time because it looks like it was specific to my copy of the e-mail. No personal data or anything, but it looks like it had some tracking info in it. Besides, the link is dead, it just ends up at a maintenance page anyway.

To the community reps: You might want to check into this dead link, because it looks like it's not really "dead" per se, but that it's trying to load a section of the Black Friday announcement page that doesn't exist. When I did a trace of it, it's trying to load this page with the following GET parameters:
utm_source=newsletter_coh
utm_medium=email
utm_campaign=email_na_20111122
utm_content=bonustime

That particular combination of GET parameters isn't working; it's being redirected to a maintenance page. It looks like someone forgot to add the bonus time section to the news announcement page.

Ok, I'm paid up till Sept. 2012 already. I forget how this works with people that aren't close to renewal. If I add the 12 month plan, do I get billed for it now and have the time tacked on, or does the billing actually happen when my current plan is up for renewal in Sept. 2012?

Personally, I subscribe a year at a time, but I don't think I'll be taking advantage of the bonuses this time around. I'm not feeling very confident in the game this days.

If others want to extend their sub and save some money, more power to 'em.

And, Commander, the extra time you purchase with these deals DOES get added to the end of your current subscription.

I tried taking advantage of this last time but failed to read the actual date of the offer at the time, I thought 'sale announced' meant 'sale was on' and only got the regular 12 months without two extra free.

Now that I learned my lesson, I'll definitely take advantage of the extra months offer like I should've done. I also do the yearly pre-pay for general convenience and the discount offered.

If this offer happens more than once a year I'm quite certain I'll end up having more years paid then there will of service at this rate!

ah cool, the 14 month deal, im paid up till 2013, but will probably jump on this, as you said, its basically 10 bucks a month.

Once the offer is live, you cancel your sub, and choose the bonus option you want.

The next time your account renews, it will be with the bonus time offer. So my current sub is out in march - if I sign up for the offer, i'll get hit with the payment in march (exception to using paypal 1-time payment, IIRC).

If the mechanism to give you all your monthly Reward Tokens up front was working, I'd be on this in a heartbeat. I'm still hopeful that'll get fixed soon. Either way, I'll probably be mulling over it for a bit this month. It's kind of a bad time to drop $100+ on myself, after all.

I would only take advantage of this if they would get the paragon rewards tokens up front thing "working".

I'd say they could double their sales if the reward token system was WAI.

As it is, my account renews with its usual monthly schedule on December 1st. I'll decide after that whether or not I want to front-load for the next semester/year (or if I can even afford it, heh).

The URL in the newsletter is for the Accounts Management page, which is currently inaccessible due to maintenance.

That's why the maintenance page is coming up. Once the maintenance is complete, the link should take you to Account Management.

I think my yearly renewal hits during December. (I'll check when the Accounts page is avialable again.) Is that good enough to get the bonus months, or do I need to explicitly cancel and re-up?

Considering that my hubby buys me the one year subdscription for one of my christmas presents I hope they don't forget this year.
