Quote:So sorry for the delay! We had been waiting for the Unity Rally patches and Art Books to arrive from their respective donors. The Art Books arrived just this morning and I have already packaged them up. We're shipping the remainder of the auction items today, so you should be receiving a confirmation number via email later that will allow you to track your package.I'm beginning to wonder if this is a scam I'm one of the ppl who won 1 of the signed books.
I've made a donation and paid for the shipping and sent acouple of emails to Mr Wentworth
to see when it was going to be shipped but have heard nothing since the 14th was hoping if some 1 could get a hold of him.
Real World Hero is most definitely not a scam. But, as a community effort with lots of wonderful volunteers, we can be a little slow and for that I apologize. -
Jack Benny had a famous skit in which he was held up by a mugger with the typical line, "Your money or your life!" Jack stood around for a long pause until the bandit tried to hurry him up, "I said your money or your life...", at which point Jack bursts out, "I'm thinking! I'm thinking!" The character he portrayed was notoriously stingy. Your concept reminded me of this.

I'm actually on my way to the post office this morning, so I'll take a few extra letters. Having a community of such passionate and well-reasoned players has made SaveCOH an amazing effort. I'm proud to do my part and participate. As I have learned through the Real World Hero charity drive, small actions really can add up to an amazing outcome!

The ChipIn website has gone down for unknown reasons. If you are attempting to make a donation via the Real World Hero website (http://realworldhero.com), please do keep trying. We'll post an update when the service is restored or if we are able to learn more. Thank you!
UPDATE: We're back in action. The donation widgets are working again! -

Quote:Yes, there will be a show producer helping out with all of the technical things. They will be able to explain everything you need to know before you do your show (if you're the winning bidI am assuming that someone will be able to help set up etc etc as I would be a complete NOOB to it LOL! I would actually rather be the cohost with an experienced DJ as I would be kinda nervous out there solo on my first go around :P I mean I could come up with some songs etc...but would like to do a "Coffee Talk" kinda show with someone else who is experienced. Is there a way to see if that is possible? A way to "choose" which DJs would be willing to co-host?
I am really interested in this btw LOL!). I'd suggest you invite someone you would like to have co-host with you. Blog Talk Radio isn't associated with any of the in-game stations in particular, but that doesn't mean you couldn't invite a DJ from your favorite station to co-host with you. You can be creative with it and make it fun!
-
Quote:I can help with this! The live, online radio show is 90 minutes live, but an extra 60 minutes can continue after you go off the air, making a total recording time of 150 minutes. You will be the host of your own show and can include co-hosts and have call-in guests as well, if you choose.I have a question regarding the 90 Minute Live Radio Show Of Your Own. The description says: 90 minute live radio show, with 60 minutes of additional recording time available that can be heard on the replay, on Blog Talk Radio. The winner will be able to have a radio show on any subject (no sexual content please) or just play their favorite music (they will also be able to pick songs to be played on the show).
So does that mean that I would be like a Co-DJ? If that were the case I would be interested. I always wanted to become a part of the various "Radios" out there but never had the chance due to RL.
Any more info on this would be greatly appreciated -
Hi all! Mrs. W and I are indeed still around on the boards. I had been planning to make a nice big post for Real World Hero this evening, but saw that Llydia had beaten me to it. Thank you! I would have done so sooner, but we spent a good part of last week making sure that some good friends were getting some support after Hurricane Sandy and that put us behind in our RWH promotion efforts. Not to worry! With such great help from everyone in the community things just have a way of getting done around here. Right?
So, Llydia, you are now the defacto thread updater and I know we can count on you.
Things are a little different this year, naturally, but we are determined to continue on and have felt the support of quite a number of our fellow heroes. The auction is indeed underway and has over $200 in bids with 6 days remaining before bidding closes. We are indeed working on additional revelry to share time with you in game and promote Real World Hero to any friends who have not yet heard of what it is.
Most importantly, we want everyone to know that the charity drive is not ending on November 30th when the servers go dark for City of Heroes. As terribly sad and upsetting as it is, we hope the Real World Hero charity drive can continue on and do good for a long time to come. Bring Real World Hero with you into whatever game or community you may find yourself and let us know where you are. We hope to find welcome among the broader world of gamers and invite them to take part.
Let's make this a really great time of fun, good works, and community! We won't have spiffy gold titles anymore, but we will always consider you all to be Real World Heroes! (with a little invisible title floating just above your heads.) -
Quote:Well said!Going to repost part of a message I just gave someone privately.
I've said it a lot, lately: we keep arguing about whether we should be civil or angry customers toward NCSoft, an argument that misses the point. We have a window of opportunity to make NCSoft a witness to our passion. I hope people will take it in whatever way they see fit. I don't care how people get through that window. I just want to see them take it while it's there. You can't hurt a multibillion dollar corporation's feelings. You can only measure whether you've been loud enough, not only for them to hear, but for the entire industry to hear. This isn't my first sunset. I know what we're up against. These behemoth corporations do not play nice, either with each other, or with disenfranchised customers. The odds were already against us. Our odds are IMPOSSIBLE if we don't make noise.
So make noise. Be nice about it. Be mean about it. Be emotional about it. Be constructive. Be devastated. Be what you are: Passionate City of Heroes customers who know what you want: MORE CITY OF HEROES. -
What we are being asked to do is very much like what we have already been doing. We have been speaking out to anyone and everywhere possible that we have loved this game, loved this development team, loved this community. That we still love it. Now we can tell three more people, Mr. Taek-Jin Kim, Dr. Song-Yee Yoon, and Mr. Dong-Il Kim about this vibrant community. Tell them so much that it makes them proud of what City of Heroes is, that they see what we value so much.
I have been inspired throughout my time in City of Heroes. I have added to my life. With others by my side, I have created a charity drive. I raise my children to value service to those in need. I have come to know and respect a multitude of friends from around the world. They are the ones that have inspired me. I can't think of a good reason not to tell anyone, even these three persons, about my experience. I will write and tell them. Will they take pride in who I am. Perhaps they will find their own inspiration... -
Quote:Thanks for mentioning Real World Hero, Bill. We're definitely going to be holding the charity drive again this year. It's been such a rewarding event to plan and participate in with our community. While not (to my recollection) an NCSoft program, there's already "Real world hero."
I agree that there are many reasons that make incorporating a donation system into the game problematic. I don't have the answer to that question. But I do know that Paragon Studios and NCSoft are generous supporters of several charities. We've been astounded and grateful for the tremendous support Real World Hero receives from both players and Paragon Studios alike.
If anyone has suggestions for improving the Real World Hero charity drive or is interested in helping with the event more directly, please do send a PM. We'd love to hear from you.
Best regards to all! -
I'd go with Roderick's suggestion to contact Zwillinger and Black Pebble first. If there is no objection from Paragon Studios, then we'd be happy to find out how we can work with you to use them to benefit the next Real World Hero charity drive. Please PM me if you'd like to talk about the possibility.
Thanks for thinking of Real World Hero! -

You will be immeasurably missed, Avatea! You have always been so kind, supportive, and generous to us over the years. Bless you and your husband in your next adventure and in all things.
With love and friendship,
@Mr. Wentworth -
Hey folks!
We're at it again this year with our Real World Hero charity drive and have posted an event thread in the City Life forum here. If you have never heard of Real World Hero, please do check it out. This annual event makes me proud to play CoH with all of you. I've been on Infinity since the CoV beta and have come to know a bunch of you personally. The rest of you are very cool, too.
Tonight, for the opening of the Ski Chalet, we're throwing a Winter/Holiday themed costume contest on my home server Infinity! Join us at 7pm PST (10pm EST) at the bottom of the ski slopes for fun, prizes and flagrant charity promotion.
Hope to see you there! Hit me up for a candy cane and I'll know you read this thread.
Best regards,
@Mr. Wentworth -
Quote:We update it as frequently as possible, usually every day. There's a real push to oust Virtue as the top donating server and I have to say I love the friendly competition. Is that graph on the website updated every day? What the heck, Exalted is right up there with the Virtueverse!!!

The 2011 RWH Auction has ended!
Total Bids: $2276.97
Thank you to all of the bidders! Congratulations to all of the winners! Of course, you are all winners to us! If you haven't won your bid, consider sponsoring someone in the Level-a-Thon?
Positron's keyboard went for $50.01 -and- Zwillinger's hat went for $51.01. I think it was the faulty 'M' key that helped put Zwill's hat over the top.
We've still got a few more weeks of the charity drive to go! Keep being awesome!
-
You bet. I just made the adjustment and now Justice is close to edging its way into 2nd place for total donations. Look out!

Quote:Ooh! He wasn't supposed to start playing his Level-a-Thon toon until 6pm PST (9pm EST) today! Am I correct in guessing that you are his sponsor?Joyrock's level-a-thon toon is already up to level 35....and I haven't even had a chance to start....will be on later tonight to play
And don't forget to play with Titan Sentinel running in the background so everyone can check your current level on the Real World Hero site while you play! Here's the Level-a-Thon page to watch. http://realworldhero.com/levelathon/entry/
