Time code give-away question
PM Zwillinger or Black Pebble. I doubt that any player can accurately answer this question for you.
@Roderick
Pretty sure any kind of non-City promotion is frowned upon, especially if it leads to you possibly making money off it.

I'll agree with Aggelakis, as usual.
Just for those who may be wondering I'll also quote from the currently posted Message Forum Rules and Guidelines:
9. You may not post advertisements. Advertising on these forums is prohibited, specifically posts that advertise a transaction for real money or any posts that discuss an action prohibited by the User Agreement (North American and European). Also forbidden are posts attempting to recruit others into online contests or ventures unless specifically allowed by NCsoft and Paragon Studios. Please contact a member of the Community Team if you have any questions about something you want to post in this regard. |
You might be able to donate them as prizes for some of the contests that PERC has at times or other player run events or contests such as the FART battle that Darth Delicious has been running (at least I think it's DD running it).
But I'd still recommend contacting the OCR team first. If you are interested in possibly donating some of the cards for use as prizes in a player run event or contest (such as the FART Battle) mention it in the PM and they can tell you specifically if that case would be allowed.
EDIT: You can't PM Black Pebble, he has PM's disabled *glare* although I understand why. Zwhydoiputupwithtjspellingmynamewrong, Hit Streak or Freitag would be the current members of the OCR team, unless we've got a new one we don't know about yet. *glances at Moderator 09 wonderingly*
If the game spit out 20 dollar bills people would complain that they weren't sequentially numbered. If they were sequentially numbered people would complain that they weren't random enough.

Hello all, I could use your help with an interesting situation.
I worked on a webteam for a City of Heroes partner site and online store of sorts, but the site ended up not working out. Now I have over 16 years worth of timecards and I want to give them away (the owner gave them to me and said I could do what I want with them). I was thinking of promoting my speaking business and asking for links/leads in return, but is that something I'm allowed to do here? I won't mention the site/business until I get confirmation (trying to be polite). Thanks! P.S. These are not for sale at any price. I highly doubt that it would be the "right" thing to do under the circumstances not to mention the possible legalities. I'm also not running a contest or drawing (there are crazy rules about that too). Just looking for advice right now. |
If you're looking to give them away, might I suggest contacting Sultry Siren or Mr. Wentworth about possibly making a donation to Real World Hero and their charity auction? Granted, they only operate during the holiday season for this, but I'm fairly sure that if you wanted to make a donation in your business' name, they'd pimp that up on their site in return for bringing in a couple grand worth of auction donations (16 years worth of cards at full price is roughly $2900, or about 1/3rd of what they raised last year).

Negaduck: I see you found the crumb. I knew you'd never notice the huge flag.
Considering the fact that you have 16 years of time cards, that is a substantial amout of $ to the owners of NCsoft.

Well your always welcome to send one my way Being non-VIP sucks eheh
Correct me if I'm wrong. But, don't time cards like that usually have to be activated at a register upon purchase before they can be usable? I've heard of gift cards and stuff being like that to prevent use in case of shoplifters stealing them. In other words, if someone stole a card like that and tried to use the code on it, they would get a message that the code is invalid.
Maybe you should find out about that before you give them away. If they do have to be activated before they can be used, you could end up with some angry people. Just a thought.

City of Heroes Game Time Cards and NCSoft Game Time Cards don't work that way.
I've used them on my second account as needed. I've also given them as gifts.
Black Pebble has given them out at the Pummits (and likely elsewhere).
There is no activation at a register for these.

I'd go with Roderick's suggestion to contact Zwillinger and Black Pebble first. If there is no objection from Paragon Studios, then we'd be happy to find out how we can work with you to use them to benefit the next Real World Hero charity drive. Please PM me if you'd like to talk about the possibility.
Thanks for thinking of Real World Hero!
