Dang. Makes my achievements here rather ho-hum:
Correctly guessed what A.C.C.A.H.U.D. stood for. Which earned me a BAB No-Prize.
Oh, and I was partly responsible for the "Oil Slick, WTH" event. -

City of Heroes was my first MMO, and it's been my longest as well. I tried WoW multiple times, TOR and Secret World as well, recently, but I've always come back to CoH.
I just bought and installed Guild Wars 2 about 1 hour ago.
I was looking forward to Wildstar, too. It looked like it had promise.
No more. I cannot help but feel betrayed and used but this company. I will never again spend a single cent on this company's products or services.
EDIT: And really, it's not that it's done. We knew it was going to happen. But it's the manner in which this has been done. It feels very disrespectful. And that's a sentiment I hope reaches the highest levels of NCsoft's hierarchy. -
We've been at this crossroads many times and the Devs have always said no to allowing any of those "solutions". This is one particular point I don't see them ever changing their stance on.

Quote:...Oh, and add a danged stun to the AS for these hard targets. Cause it should be very surpising to almost get assassinated. Even with purple triangles up.
Did... did you just ask for a Mag 54 stun?
Leaving everything else aside, that you're actually asking for a Stun that can break through purple triangles is a bit much. -
"Arrow in the knee" is the just the latest Internet Funsies Quote spawned from Skyrim. Give it another week and it'll be dead.

Because Vetspecs do not use /respec. Nor do earned trial respecs or recipe respecs.
ONLY Freespecs use /respec.
Go see Jack Wolfe to use your respec.
Yeah, it's kinda dumb like that. -

Can we please for all that is good and holy, please fix the emails that are being sent out? I have never received one of the announcement emails even though I don't have any spam filters set up, it doesn't come in the Spam folder and all the appropriate checkboxes are checked in my ncsoft login page.
I get the bug feedback ones. I get the petition ones.
But I, too, never get the announcement emails. And no, my email isn't a gmail/googlemail address either.
Heck, this past closed beta, I didn't get my email invite either. I lucked out in checking the Dev Digest one day and saw I could see their closed beta postings.
Seriously. Fix the emails. Fix the forums. -
Titan Weapons:
Something meat cleaver-esque. Along the lines of the Organic Sword option for Dual Blades.
A giant maul similar in appearance to the "war hammer" option that War Mace has.
A Vanguard "talsorian" option
A Rikti option, perhaps an upscaled version of the Rikti Axe
Staff Fighting:
A simple, unadorned staff -
Quote:And apparently this certain way is to sell stuff you don't need. Don't need those Boresights? Sell 'em. How about that Iron just sitting around? Sell it. Do you need it within the next 2 levels? Probably not. Sell it. You can buy another one later if you really do need one.The fact of the matter is you have to approach the game in a certain way to make a lot of money. If one does not approach the game that way you won't.
Just sell the crap and you'll be rolling in INF.
Quote:When it happens it's a fluke. Usually a rare drops on me and for some reason I get the components
Quote:Sure, I can make 300K 15min after entering Atlas Park buying discards in the auction house, but that's not a lot of inf.
Quote:And that's not enough to compete in the market place for recipes or enhancements I want to properly equip my characters.
Quote:Good recipes often run in the hundreds of millions way out of reach of the normal player.
Quote:Sure a player can spend a lot of time playing the auction house,
Quote:I use the auction house when I have to but mostly I want to do missions.
Quote:And because I don't 'play' the auction house,
Quote:Simply saying that because one or some people can make tons of influence at this game and therefore everybody should be able to make tons of money at this game is insensitive because it's simply not true. Some---and I would venture to say most---do not operate on the level of power players.
Personally, I consider any character with over 10M INF to be "rich enough." It's more than what you need. Anything over that is just luxury. I've got characters with just the basics: SOs with some generic IOs thrown in. And then I've got a couple that are super expensive builds that run closer to 1B than I'd like to think. But those investments in the character weren't needed, they were what I wanted.
The point I'm saying is this: Everyone who has access to the auction house can get more than what they need at it. It's downright easy to do so.
Can everyone get what they want from it? Maybe. But only if they're willing to put in as much effort as it calls for. 'Cause if you're not willing to put in effort for what you want, you must not want it very much. -
Quote:Bull. Pure and simple. I call bull on that statement right there. Back that statement up or get off of that tired old excuse already. It takes time to make it really pay off, and merely selling drops in stores will not accumulate the amount of influence necessary to afford the enhancements that actually help you significantly.
Also, definite "play the market" in your terms. In my terms, "playing the market" would mean sitting down to figure out which things sell and then either flipping the items or going out of my way to get those as drops and selling them.
Just taking 2 minutes of time to put all the drops I'd gotten via mission running on there and selling it at 5 INF is not, IMO, "playing the market." -
Quote:Well, I must admit that this may be strongly dependent on game play style wouldn't it?
Unless your "game play style" states "KEEP EVERYTHING," you shouldn't have any problem accumulating mountains of INF by just playing the game and using the market as needed. Not farming, not going out of your way to make money, just playing and selling off the things you don't need.
The "I'm too poor" excuse here is really a case of "I don't want all the money you're throwing at me." -
Whoa. A real life example of someone accidentally the whole server.

And the second portion of my response does not deal with snipes. The original point being made was that there are powers with longer than normal range. There are also powers with shorter than normal range.
Quote:The actual range would be approx 160 feet.
And you're saying having one power with a long range is equal to having 6 powers with a long range?
EDIT: Added snipe issue response. -
Quote:There was already precedent of having ranged attacks being longer than 80'. See Snipes. There was also precedent of having ranged attacks being shorter than 80'. See "heavy blasts" ala Power Burst, Shout, Blaze, etc.Psi needs a serious rework. AR has 100 foot range in it's tier 1 and 90 foot range in its tier 2. So there is a precedent.
Bringing up this point is a moot one at best.
As for why the entire set was brought down to 80' instead of the original 100'? Boost Range. No other AT had access to this power. Being able to boost the range of your primary attacks to over 200' (nearing 400' for the snipe) was not an option. -
"OMG Devs said they'd do this in Issue whatever and now they aren't! They lied!!!"
-
Too busy. It completely loses the sleekness the Batman Beyond suit had going for it.

Quote:I do not recall this ever happening. However, I don't recall that it used to work that way. You used to be able to get the Alignment Mish in addition to three morality missions. Or do I misremember?
As far as I can remember, it was always that you had to have a Tip slot open for a Morality mission to drop. Remember, Moralities drop as tips. If you're filled already on tips, you won't get another. -
Quote:Yeah, that's my understanding of how the redraw animation time figures into it all as well. I was keeping very close track of the changes and progress when BAB was working on it so hearing that it's been "changed" again was a bit of a surprise. That's exactly wrong. That's how it used to be, it was changed long ago, and the new state has been discussed hundreds of time on the forums. I don't know why this is such a persistent misunderstanding.
Redraw
Redraw
Redraw
BABs on difficulty of redoing redraw
Arcanaville on difficulty of redoing redraw and more here
A note on the history of redraw
Sarrate on redraw
But then I keep getting people saying the attack animations are shortened to accommodate redraw so I'm trying to get anyone who espouses that notion to provide some sort of support. I've even PMed Synapse because I'm tired of hearing it and want a final answer one way or the other. -
Quote:I, for one, would like some documentation on this supposed change. Can you supply patch notes, Dev comments etc? This is actually no longer true.
The animation times have been standardized so that the time it takes to draw your weapon is actually removed from the animation time of the attack going off.
If you dont have your weapon out, the shortened animation will play.
If you already have your weapon drawn, the standard animation will play.
