A Man and His Street Justice Thoughts (so far)
Cons
1. My only con with the set is while it is powerful, IMO, it doesn't feel like it sometimes. When using a few of the attacks such as Heavy blow and Initial strike, I often times can't tell if I my attack landed or whiffed unless I'm paying attention to their health gauge. The sound effects, IMO, could benefit from a bit more "umph" behind the attacks's contact. It makes sort of a "whiff" (The sound of missing) sound when a "WHAP!" or "CRACK!" sound when do it more justice (no pun intended). This would be especially preferred on larger teams when the simple "whiff" gets overshadowed by the more painful sounding attacks (Smite anyone?). |
Still early on in the set, but very pleased so far. Fits my boxer hero's concept much better than martial arts (with alternate animations) did.
The combo system reminds me a lot of the feral druid and rogue point-based combo system in that game with the night elves, and it was very easy to get into the rhythm of using that kind of system again.
On Liberty:
Aardwolf - level 50 claws/invulnerability scrapper
Anchor - level 50 level gravity/forcefield controller
Dr. Dusk - level 50 mercenaries/dark miasma mastermind
I agree that the sound effects need more WHACK and less WHIFF. Regarding Heavy Blow's animation: isn't it a fast elbow to the face, at least from one arm?
I am loving Street Justice, even more than I thought I would. I was surprised to discover that this IS the set I've been asking for since beta.
My new StJ character is only level 24ish, but I'm very happy with the animations and the sound effects. However, I wear headphones most of the time that I'm playing so I might hear things a little differently that people listening through speakers.
I want to hear ribs cracking when I use Rib Cracker, I want to hear the celery-wrapped-in-a-towel-and-broken 'k-k-krack' when I use Shin Breaker, and I sure as hell want to hear the sharp snap of enamel as my foe's teeth smash together when I use Crushing Uppercut.
(Also, would it be too much to ask to add a few tooth-shaped particles to the landing FX on Crushing Uppercut?)

Although, I'm not sure about the whole teeth particles hitting the floor thing though.

Yeah, headphones makes a world of difference. Which ones are you using? They aren't your average Ipod ones are they?

I hear all kinds of neat sound effects in the game with my headphones that I never hear through my speakers.
I'm really enjoying it. My SJ/WP brute (I should have gone Regen to try it on a brute but I forgot we had that now) is only lvl 10 or so but I'm looking forward to more awesomeness. I like the combo system and can't wait to see what all the powers will do. I'm really happy about purchasing this, but regret getting Beam Rifle.
Rib Cracker is badass. Nice pic, Nekko.

You people are clearly deluded.
Didn't you know it had already been decided that this is useless set?
You should read more threads so you are better informed.
Then you would know it is clearly worthless since it doesn't outperform Super Strength (especially KO Blow).
If the game spit out 20 dollar bills people would complain that they weren't sequentially numbered. If they were sequentially numbered people would complain that they weren't random enough.
Black Pebble is my new hero.

But yeah, I think the sfx could do with a quick looking at, just to add some umph.
But mechanically and animation wise, the set rocks.
GG, I would tell you that "I am killing you with my mind", but I couldn't find an emoticon to properly express my sentiment.

Love the set so far. It feels fast and strong (I am still pretty low level though). The thing is though when you are playing the low level tutorials there is just not enough to punch in a row which really bugs me. It was the first time I had something like: Less talking, more punching! What? Only three Arachnos troops? I need more!
Yeah, I like the set so far.

I'm not good at giving advice, can I interest you in a sarcastic comment?

2. Also, the animation for heavy blow looks quite underwhelming, it looks as if it was recycled from Boxing from the Fighting pool. Not that I have a problem with recycled animations, but boxing?

If you feel something looks underwhelming, that's an opinion you're absolutely entitled to have. But please make sure that your opinion is educated.

Hey all, so far I'm loving the set. Concept wise, it's been what I've been waiting for ever since CoX released. Not that I don't like Martial Arts, it's just that it never really appealed to me. But moving on, I wanted to share my thoughts and concerns about the set, and also to gauge how others are feeling. So here goes...
Pros
1. Performance wise, it's incredible. Whenever I come across a stranded boss or Lt. that's decided he wants to go mano-e-mano with me, I get a slight smirk on my face thinking to myself, "Oh, you dun gone and screwed up now!"
2. I also love the combo builder/finisher mechanic implemented. It's a nice take on the Dual Blades mechanic with enough of a spin that I don't feel the need to take all the powers. Nothing says "This is gonna hurt you alot more than it's gonna hurt me" like a level 3 punishing strike.

But yeah, these are just my thoughts on the set, and as such should be taken as nothing more than an opinion. I'm not bashing the set, as I quite enjoy it (cant wait to try the tier 9), but my main is concern is the hit behind the punch. A bit more visual and/or hearing umph behind the attacks could help.
I'd be interested in hearing how others feel.
