Basically Marvel Alliance in MMO form. Why is CoH the only game to get it right? And why is it being shut down while the others stick around (well, minus the Marvel one, which hasn't come out yet)? I hope Matt can round up at least some of the Paragon City devs and kickstart another super hero MMO. Nothing else compares to what they have done. About a month left and I'm gonna have no where to go. Right now, I should be playing my Bio Armor/Dark Melee tank, not be in a state of mourning...
You ever try eating Filet Mignon then having a hamburger afterwards? Don't get me wrong, hamburgers are still good, but in comparison....
  2. I know it's not the Fourth of July, but for some reason, after seeing all these pics, this speech just seems...fitting.

  4. Avatar Joe - Has to master all four elements so he can "save" Paragon City and end the war. Sooo, Water/Fire/Earth...not sure where to get Air but i'll figure it out.

But on a more original note, my Father Poseidon has once again mated with a female woman and created -- me. So, i have control over water as well as keen godly senses. Will make a Water/martial when it arrives.

Still working on a name for the 2nd one. Any suggestions?
  5. This has been bothering me ALOT lately. I've always thought that should be a "Power up Button" on sets with toggles. Activating them all at the same time in a reasonable amount of time.
  6. Thanks for the input. Guess we're the only ones interested in getting rid of the cyberspace redraw animation.

    Server selection

Or maybe just the server with the most toons at the top of the list; descending in numerical order afterwards?
  8. I know weapons in-game can't be sheathed due to clipping issues and what not. But what if there were a way around it? I made a character concept whom summoned his weapon in a flash of light, sort of like the Keyblade from Kingdom Hearts. So I figured, why not throw the suggestion here?

Summon #1 - Weapon appears in your hand al la a subtle flash of light, fire, darkness, etc... whatever works for the character.

Summo #2 - Similar to how Thor summons his hammer and the Jedi summon their lightsabers, you simply hold out your hand and it finds its way to it.

Hmm...anyways, that's all I could come up with, if anyone can think of more than please share. I've just always found it quite saddening having to draw a weapon from cyber space. This gives a way to justify it, while at the same time, adding spice to the process.

Not that i know from experience, but I'm PRETTY sure a concentrated orbital laser strike can penetrate a few feet of concrete. So no need for justification there.

Hmm, right now I have the proc slotted in Whirling Smash on my TW/ELEC brute, which is what I normally open my attack chain with. Do you think it'd be more beneficial in something like Lightning Field?

    Full Fury

Has anyone ever achieved it? I mean, sheesh, I just finished a session with my brute and MAN was I both taking and giving a beating! Yet still, 80%, and that INCLUDES the fury proc from the brute's ATO. Anyways, is full fury feasible?
  12. Thanks for the replies all. I see that, albeit it small, it does have its cons. If Mass Confusion had a slightly faster recharge, it'd better fall into line with it, but whatever, there's no such thing as perfect.
  13. I have to vote Kinetic Melee's Repulse Torrent. Nothing says, kamahemeha, like a fancy animation that sends foes flying off their feet!...What? I like grew up on DBZ, go figure.
  14. I teamed with a Plant Dom the other day, and his Seeds of Confusion seemed to outperform my Mass Confusion consistently. From what I could tell, it was up every fight, had a pretty fast activation time and lasted quite a bit. It just seemed to outperform my T9 completely.

Is there something I should know about Plant's confuse? Having access to such a great power, as well as terrific holds and a pet seems a bit OP. Now, if Plant has been deemed the bees knees of dom/controllers than i'll chuck it up as a design oversight and leave it at that.

But, just curious as to why it's sooo good?

Although, considering the first quote of my first post in this thread was in regard to a player saying nerfing KB to KD was better for the game and his proof was a Super Strength character slotting the conversion proc in Hand Clap and proceeded to do great things....yeah, I sort of did come to the thread to counter a statement that concluded KB's absolute contributions.

No it's not misrepresenting anything. Unless there was some bug that let you slot the KB conversion proc in powers that don't do damage, the person used a made-up story as a means to deface a power.

Perhaps *you* are misrepresenting what I'm posting. Actually, I'm pretty sure you did.
Hmm, I did not know the proc couldn't be slotted into Handclap, something else must have been affecting the guy's inability to do knock back with Handclap, controller most likely. Anyways, I still stand by my opinion that knock back is a nerf. Signature powers like Footstomp now do KD (assuming you're fighting even cons), how great of a power do you think it'd still be if they decided to change that, and make it KB? I'd expect a lot of people would be up in arms about it. They give us a way to remove said KB from certain powers, and suddenly, powers once considered meh, are now very viable options. With that in mind, common sense tells us that it's detrimental, more often than it is beneficial.

Besides, if you want to achieve knock back using knockdown, simply knock them down, then take a step back. Ta-dah!

As a final food for thought, why make the proc unique? Why only allow us one per build?
  16. All this proc has managed to do, for me anyway, is prove just how detrimental knockback actually is. If I didn't know any better, I'd say adding KB is used to nerf a power, which is why removing it, makes said power almost unskippable.
Had a Super Strength brute on my team the other night that slotted the proc in Handclap...good lord! And yes, we've all seen the absolute MONSTER Bonfire has become. Your opinions may vary of course.

Now I can't even bring myself to play Energy blaster anymore.
  17. Yes it does, thank you for the response. Just out of curiosity, how much recharge is needed for a permadom build? I'm assuming...alot. How feasible is it without purple sets?
  18. Hey guys, I was checking the guides on the forum, but they're all horribly outdated, so I figured I'd ask what you all thought. I currently rolled a Mind dominator after several years of procrastination, but I'm finding myself a bit lost with the set.

Which powers are the bees knees? What is an ideal opening attack chain? At the moment, Mass Hypnosis only sleeps enemies, and Total Domination is on such a long recharge, that I barely get to use it every few mobs, so my lockdown is rather...abysmal.
I'm hoping that once I get Terrorize and Mass Confusion that the set will do a 360. But as of right now, I feel like an underprivileged blaster with a few ST holds...although, telekinesis has saved my team and I several times. Btw, if it matter, my secondary is Dark Assault, which now I'm starting to hear was a poor choice?

Anyways, any thoughts and suggestions would be nice. Oh, and I am planning on IO'ing if that matters as well.
  19. Maybe, no matter how hard he/she studied, no matter how dedicated he put his mind to it, he could still never attain the same amount of intelligence he once had? Therefore driving him to search for it in this "City of Heroes" he's read so much about. With all the magic users here, seems like a good place to start.

In terms of appearance and what not, perhaps his opening costume is the bare minimum, cloth and fur? And once you reach 20, you give him actual clothes, 30, armor, 40...good armor? Just something to show progress in how they've gone native. More specifically in appearance, you mentioned no orc, troll or anything green-skinned like that, but perhaps someone that's really tall, like a Giant race? Or hell, really short? Dwarfs come to mind with that.

Powers wise, well, SS/Inv immediately comes to mind. But to get a bit more creative, Titan Weapons would be awesome for a giant man. If they're a race of giants, than it'd only make sense that they're swords seem bigger than ours. Or if a dwarf, small guy wielding a huge blade only emphasizes his strength more. For secondary, i think you're looking at either Inv or WP, thematically.

In terms of intelligence, it'd be REALLY interesting to see someone whom after all this time, still pales in the intelligence department compared to that of an eight year old. Basic reading and math remains, but it's not enough, it just isn't. In this search for something better, it truly gives him a justified goal and us the audience, someone to root for.

But yeah, I'm out of time and need to get to work, but in closing comments, you'd have here a specimen whose nature of brute force, would constantly be in war with his nurture of intelligence. Hope this helps a bit.

Right, look, hell with it, you stay here while I go and toe-bomb that lot. Wh-?! WHAT PART OF STAY DO YOU NOT [Beep!] GET, YOU [Beep!] [Beep!] PILE OF [Beep!]?!?"

Normal day in the life of a Bots/Traps MM -_- Which is exactly why I stopped bloody playing him.
    This just made my day
  21. To the OP, I'd go with Vorpal. It supposed to be VERY FAST teleport type power, but you can easily rationalize that "with such brute strength, she's able to kick/swing at the air so hard, it sends a wave of force at her enemies!" At least...that's what I would do. Only drawback here is Vorpal's SFX, barely sounds like anything IMO. "shrugs"

To the OP, the Avengers need a controller more than anything else. I mean, did you SEE all those aliens just roaming around like it aint no thing? Some serious lockdown could've been used there.

  24. BM/Traps. His name, Vick. Nuff said.
  25. Because, I can without a doubt, assume that everyone in the world has one time or another has asked themselves the question: If i was a superhero/villain, which powers would i have?
Only then to fantasize about how awesome their life would be. CoX allows you to experience that dream -- to a limited extent of course.

Compared that to how many times you've laid back in bed and wondered how awesome your life would be you were a Warlock with bleeding effect spells whom could then mount his giant eagle has said work was done?

Oh, and I'm not forced to fight wild coyotes and boars at level 1 like i'm some sort of scrub.
