heh. I didn't want to Zwillinger the thread THAT much...

I just figured I'd go for the confirmation on the basis of a Zwillinger Tangent

(I'm so going to have a seed of Hamidon spawned on me... I just know it)

Awesome to know

Now the quesion is, is Coyote's praetorian double and Praetoria going to be around? And will people even use Praetoria as a starting point with the new tutorial?

Is the Praetorian version of Coyote a speedster, do you suppose?

As I understand it, the Praetorian tutorial is sticking around (in fact, given the devs current obsession with the place, I wouldn't expect Praetorian anything to go away). I imagine people will continue to use it. The fact that the new tutorial is new, combined with the fact that it allows people the same AT options as the Praet one without side-switching or Praetorian backstory complications may mean it's more heavily used, though.

Given that Praetoria will still likely have the more interesting story content for 5-20 (possibly even 25), I still see myself headed there, often as not.

And Coyote's Praetorian mirror is already a contact there, if you do the Crusader arc.

The devs stated there will be two zero-costs badges in a Ustream.
You could infer from that which two badges they could be and further, that the tutorial would point people to them for the purpose of educating about the store.
.
Those two badges will not be the zero-cost badges in the Tutorial's store tutorial.

You say that with the conviction of someone I think should no longer be allowed in a closed beta.

I seem to recall hearing there would only be one (zero cost) badge in the store.

my guess is he will be a part of the new tutorial, a lot of the people here are the original team, so i suspect they will respect the original intention. as for iso-jailbreak,they already said it will be in oro, so i suspect it will be the way for those badges.

EDIT: ok, so zwill just rendered my conjecture irrelevant, good to see. i never met coyote, but certain actions of the devs were just good things to do, and including a valued community member that died was unquestionably one of them.

I am not in Closed Beta. My previous time in other Closed Betas did include the new tutorial. My statement is not based on Closed Beta information.

You make spurious claims of someone I think should no longer be allowed to post on the forums.

You're contradicting yourself. Because it sounds like you're admitting to leaking information about an unreleased feature that you saw in a previous CB, and that you think it's OK because it's not this CB.

Is it still spurious if you admitted to it?

I've heard the story of Coyote, but if he didn't live long enough to see the game's release, then his character being added to the tutorial must have taken some time. I joined City of Heroes in May of 2004, and in Coyote's place at the time was Generic Cop #13456212390. I don't recall how long since that this was, but one day I was running the tutorial and found myself greeted not by a random generic cop, but by a costumed hero, and wondered what that was about. That may have been with the launch of I1, I don't remember that far back. It wasn't until months later that I learned the story of the player behind the NPC.

Given Coyote's story and significance, I'm happy to hear that he'll be in the new tutorial. I hope we don't end up fighting him. From everything he's done in-game, he seems like the non-violent type. I have my reservations about a "mixed" hero-villain tutorial, and this is one of them.

Saying "I have been in previous closed betas and have seen this content" is not a violation of the closed beta as:

A: We know there are closed betas.
B: The NDA for said betas have expired.
C: We know about the content (but not specifics) for the new tutorial.

He's disclosed no specifics.

He's released a rather general statement that the zero-cost badges in the tutorial are NOT the jailbird/isolator badges. He hasn't gotten specific with what the badges ARE.

Clicking on the linked image above will take you off the City of Heroes site. However, the guides will be linked back here.

If you think I'm leaking Closed Beta information then report me and spare us all your drooling drivel.

Wow. I've never heard the story behind Coyote until this thread. I'm impressed that they did it, and very glad that he will still have a place in the game.

not good enough! now he needs to show up as a helpful NPC in the last mish you run in the tutorial, your first experience with NPC helpers. Coyote deserves to kick some bad guy ***!!!

Oh yeah, that was the time that girl got her whatchamacallit stuck in that guys dooblickitz and then what his name did that thing with the lizards and it cleared right up.

screw your joke, i want "FREEM"

I'm going to take a slightly different tack. It's good to know Coyote is staying around. But I feel like in the 7 intervening years there have been plenty of helpful players around who should be given a similar honor in the new tutorial. I don't think it should be put to player vote or even nominations. The devs should pick someone(s) to honor that represents the 7 years the Live community has shaped the game.

I appreciate that you included a smiley face with this announcement. I for one found it particularly reassuring.

I had always heard the story about Coyote, but never knew for sure if it was true. Good to know he is still going to be around. He was the first in-game hero I saw.
