Re: Sister Psyche and Manticore
Last time I checked, killing the enemy during a war was acceptable to any government.
Bizarre example for you to pick, don't you think? |
Alien invasion or super villain running amuck, Superman and Batman don't kill. "Conventional" super heroes wouldn't be shown killing.
And it's not like Statesman is an active member of the US Government.
Now Emperor Cole on the other hand...

I gave you a link. Go check it out. It's the official CoH Biography for Manticore.

I'd have to look the thread up, but it was named something like "More heroic Heroes, please". We discussed the whole idea of lethal force in it.

Without reading the rest of this thread yet, I'll point out that the "official" word from the devs is that-- generally speaking-- even when villains are shot, stabbed, burned or whatever, they are immediately teleported to the 'Zig, where they receive medical treatment and then get locked up.

Oh, the argument Manticore and Sister Psyche are having. This one's easy.
Sister Psyche is saying that it's great that we're all heroes (if you're in Fort Trident, you're a hero), so we can keep the place safe for children.
She emphasizes children and directs it to Manticore.
Manticore says it's great that we're all heroes so we can protect the innocents from all the dangers that plague the city.
He emphasizes the dangers.
Sister Psyche wants to have a baby. Manticore feels their lives are too dangerous and chaotic for it right now. Neither are in the wrong, hence the standoff.

The greatest flaw about the Joker in the Batman comics is that he's been portrayed as a multiple murderer, a mass murderer and serial killer. Yet Batman never kills him. Then Joker inevitably escapes from Arkham Asylum and kills again. The blood of those who were murdered is on Batman's hands.
|
If that were the case, any criminal, cop, Arkham Guard, Comissioner Gordon, Batgirl, Robin, Catwoman, all have the bloode of all of Joker's victims on their hands...
And that's just not the case. Joker committed the murders, no one else. Just because Batman chose not to murder him back, doesn't mean he's responsible for the Joker's continued actions.
"Where does he get those wonderful toys?" - The Joker
Gaussian is Vanguard. They aren't, per se, heroes. (they also accept villains into their ranks, remember?)
Actually the tip missions generally indicate that vigilantes kill, and heroes don't. |
There is a big difference there.
"Where does he get those wonderful toys?" - The Joker
Honestly, the real question for me here is: Does Manticore Tolerate Sister Psyche rooting around in his thoughts? How much mind reading does Psyche do without people's permission, and if she does it often, does that make her any better than Mother Mayhem? I mean if she's reading minds of people without their permission all the time, especially her husband, doesn't that make her the thought police essentially?

I can't check right now, but I distinctly remember a scene in the CoH comic after the Freedom Phalanx got blown while fighting the Honoree and Dark Watcher rezzed them, in which Manticore mentions "Wyvern intelligence reports blah blah" while in open conversation with the Vanguard guys, with States present. So I'd assume that States and the rest of FF are fully aware of Mantis relation with Wyvern, since he spoke that line right in front of States pretty casually.

They're the same proportioned models as I use for all my pictures - so it's either the camera angle, or the fact that he's the only one not wearing heels
|
Again, I couldn't tell without actually looking at the rig though.

I can't imagine Manticore being able to keep secrets from Sister Psyche simply because of her power.
I guess she forgave him for that incident with the lemming and the rhinoceros O_o

I dunno, something about their legs just seems off. Liberty in particular. She seems kinda dumpy for some reason? Either her arms seem too long, or her legs are too short. They look a little like their top and bottom halves are on seperate scales from one another.
Again, I couldn't tell without actually looking at the rig though. |
And her knees seem too low.

It must be the camera angle then, and not the heels - because these are the same proportioned models I've used before

Longbow are fairly dumb actually.
In the 45+ levels I've beaten down every squad they sent at me, blew up a couple of their bases, went into several other bases to grab macguffins and they can't stop me. I've brought down Aurora, Numina, Infernal, Mynx, Synapse and plenty of others. What possible chance do they think they have?
And that's aside from just wailing on them for their pushiness.
so to all of Longbow I say find a new line of work because you are ineffective, inefficient and insignificant. If you can't even stop me from blowing up a fully staffed base on full security alert why the hell do you think you can capture me when i go buy milk and there's only the 5 of you.
Also the Citizens of Nerva don't like you either, so get lost your not gaining any ground and the only reason you still have bases is because I actually don't want to blow up all of Nerva. My favorite hot dog vendor is there and it has some of the best views. But if I actually wanted to blow the place up we both know you can't stop me. So go away and let me enjoy my hot dog and view in peace.
If I was Manticore, and I knew Sister Psyche was trying to read my thoughts I'd just think about farts as hard as I could.

It's explained in a flashback with Gambit narrating--he and some other X-Men had been in a tussle with the Brotherhood, and for some reason, the Blob wasn't wearing his usual costume. Pyro's aim was a little wild, and...well, the Blob is fireproof, but his clothes weren't. Now, Gambit has a permanent anti-telepath image seared into his memory.
The youngster was still concerned--"What if they read my mind?" he asked.
[Gambit, paraphrased]: "You're a teenage boy in a room full of beautiful women in spandex. The last mind they want to read is yours."
The Way of the Corruptor (Arc ID 49834): Hey villains! Do something for yourself for a change--like twisting the elements to your will. All that's standing in your way are a few secret societies...and Champions of the four elements.
I recall a scene from one of the X-Men titles in which Gambit and one of the teen mutants (I forget which it was) needed to keep something from several of the female psychic mutants at once. Gambit, of course, had a gambit. They walked in, all the ladies gave him a look, one of them told him he was disgusting, and they all stalked out.
