Discussion: City of Heroes goes to New York Comic Con!

Our last convention presence of the year is fast approaching and we’re thrilled to be ending it where we began – on the East Coast!

We’ll be attending New York Comic-Con and while we won’t be on the showroom floor, you’re not going to want to miss the Meet & Greet we’ve got planned for Friday, Oct. 8th and the panel session we’re presenting the day after! Read on to learn more about when and where you will be able to find us in New York!

Yes you've heard us right! This is not just a City of Heroes® Meet & Greet, no sir! We at NCsoft have pooled our resources together in order to throw the mother of all Meet & Greets in a really cool location! You’ll not only be able to meet and interact with your fellow CoH’ers and the Dev Team, but you’ll be able to meet players and representatives from other NCsoft games as well! There will be plenty of activities, refreshments and overall fun to be had.
Exclusive only to CoH attendees, however, will once again be a very cool in-game costume code! This one will blow your mind away into the furthest confines of the Universe, literally! Get a hold of the New York Comic-Con costume code card, and you’ll be able to transform into a Rikti Mentalist and subjugate your friends and foes with your newly found Rikti appearance! Go on a rampage or save lives under the guise one of the biggest enemies Paragon City and the Rogue Isles have ever known!



At the event you will also have the opportunity to get your hands on a lenticular CoH/CoV button, participate in a raffle for great prizes, and much more! So don’t miss out – come out to see us for what’s surely going to be a great time in the Big Apple!

New! Admission Details

All our City of Heroes fans are welcome to our Meet & Greet without RSVP'ing, just turn up at 7 p.m.! Due to space limitations however, admission to the events are limited and is granted based on a first-come, first-served basis to the capacity of the venue. Attendees must be 18 years or older with valid ID. A Cash bar will also be available to mature attendees.


New!NCsoft After Hours Party

If you're looking for a spot to break out some late night fun, stay after the Meet & Greet or join us starting at 11 p.m. (until 3 a.m.) when we morph the event at Good Units to the NCsoft After Hours Party. Socialize with NCsoft and dance to into the early hours of the morning to New York's hottest live DJ mixes. (Suggested dress is upscale casual.)

What: City of Heroes Going Rogue™…..Taking Comic Book MMO’s to the Next Level

City of Heroes Going Rogue™ is this year’s biggest super-powered MMO expansion. Introducing a brand new universe to explore, the innovative Alignment System, and amazing power sets, Going Rogue has once again reinvented the comic book MMO. For the first time ever, Lead Designer, Melissa Bianco, Senior Producer Jesse Caceres and Art Lead David Nakayama are attending New York Comic-Con to share with you the story of how they created Going Rogue, what they learned from it, and provide a sneak peek at secrets they will be unlocking in City of Heroes.

There, I said it. I love the look of the new 'costume codes', however, I'm now jealous of those who get to go.

Any chance the Con Codes (Mentalist, Praetorian Police officer, and others) can become available to those who CAN'T go to the various cons?

I'm glad that those on the East Coast will get a taste of how awesome NCsoft's parties can be. It pains me that I can't attend, but turnabout is both fair play and a theme in Phoenix Wright. Party your sexy bums off, East Coasters!

Also, I enjoy the Rikti Mentalist, but when will the devs give us human mentalists?

Oh man, this will be the first costume code card I won't be there for. But it's good to see the rest of the country getting some love. Now I eagerly awaits the next contest to give out costume codes. *rubs hands together*

OK, got a question. Is this ANOTHER event that you have to be at least 21 or over to attend, or are you putting the alcohol away for once so your teen fans can attend with their parents for a change?

I'll be there, but we should really get the hell out of midtown afterwards. After party in the village?

I'd love to come, but NYC is just a wee bit pricey after a trip to Seattle for PAX and we're going to Chicago the weekend before NYCC for an Atari Teenage Riot show.

Here's hoping the team is going to make it out to Boston for PAX East next year!

A Rikti costume? Awesome! I've been really looking forward to having one of those forever, since I love the Rikti. It's a shame that it's going to be at something I don't have any chance of going to, though... Well, I hope that we'll get a chance at this some other time, because I really want this costume.

Hope the attendees enjoy it and the Going Rogue panel, anyway!

If you are going and you want a code make sure to go to the meet and greet and not just the con or you will get nothing. That's how it was at PAX this year and from the looks of Avatea's post that's how it's going to be at this con.


I'm beginning to think nobody wants CoH at their shows any more. It's like some minor celebrity tweeting "I'm going to be at the premier of the latest James Cameron movie. I'm holding a party just 3 blocks away and you are all invited." "I'm going to be at Beyonce's party for her new release this weekend. She's actually partying in the ballroom but you can join me on the 23rd floor in room 437."

Of course this does have the advantage that if you know it beforehand then you won't actually have to shell out any money to get into the con. You can go to the off site vaguely sorta kinda related and held in the general neighborhood party.

I can just hear the mad skype rantings of Alpha when he see's this - poor sod, still its great to see the continuing 'con antendances by Paragon though, what with the drop out at hero con.
