I hate it! I'm always away when you guys are planning something, in game and in real life! And now that you'll be in NYC, not more than 10 blocks from my Apartment, I'll be away yet again. Damn real life friends and their 30th b-days! :*(

Any chance some of the devs will be in early Wednesday?

If I still lived in NC I definitely would make the drive. That is saying a lot from me because I HATE cities. Would bring both of my kids as well (14 and 16). Only one plays, but the other one is interested in the game design aspect and would like to pick some brains, so to speak. Heck, I have two tickets worth of travel miles already, so buying one more wouldn't even be that bad. Dang, actually getting a little excited here.

I will also ask a couple of friends that live in the area about it Avatea, but since the original announcement upset them so much, I haven't seen them or their kids on-line.

Well, as of now I will not be attending since I cannot bring my kid who is under 18.

Have fun everyone

You're assuming that marketing guys actually appear on film....

How much trouble will we get in if Black Pebble is... uhm... encouraged to take a walk... for a few hours, so you can actually talk without fear of duct tape being slapped accross your mouths?

Too bad BaBs and SexyJ won't be there. I suspect I'd really enjoy getting to meet them in particular.

No idea what "west villiage" is, but Avatea mentions "upscale casual" in her post, which to me means: no shorts, no jeans, no t-shirts, and nothing with any sports teams' logos. Not sure about tennis shoes or sneakers.

That might just be for the after hours party, but I'd hate to show up and not be allowed into the M&G based on what I was wearing.

I think a safe bet for guys would be khakis, and a polo or oxford shirt. Again, not sure whether althletic shoes are acceptable.

I have no idea what would be considered "upscale casual" for women.

Nice slax and shirt or skirt and blouse/shirt basicly office attire. She did specificly say that was for the after hours party so i would assume the meet and greet earlier would be less stringent but it is manhatten on a Friday night that alone has me dressing in a skirt (which is rare for me).

Nice jeans and a button-down long sleeve, or nice designer T-shirt for me (dependent on weather), with a pair of casual, black dress shoes. If that's not acceptable, they can watch my business walk out the door. I don't do snobby. We have enough of that around where I live/work for me to seek it out, or cater to it.

Hehe, yeah... And, honestly, these things really won't be a concern. I mean, they have their codes and they can enforce them, but... when you go to these places, and you see... It's not going to be a problem (Over nitpicky things like that).
Generally speaking (As there are certainly some places that stick to strict dress codes), they have those in place to both guide people to dress better and so that they can use those rules as a reason to deny people.
Not to discount Aveata's reminder and/or to suggest everyone wear sweatpants and 20 year old t-shirts...

I've never been turned away. Hah, I wear jeans and t-shirts into coat and tie places... But that's just the way it goes sometimes. It's not what you wear... But how you wear it!

Definition of Upscale Casual
By Peggy Epstein, eHow Contributor
I want to do this! What's This?
The term "upscale casual" is usually applied to the type of clothing appropriate for a particular occasion or a type of restaurant, referring both to the restaurant itself and the expected dress for that type of restaurant. Both references may vary somewhat according to area, but there are some generally applicable guidelines.
Dress for Women
Women should keep in mind that while dressy jeans or pants with a good-looking top will be appropriate, skirts and dresses are often worn at upscale casual events and restaurants.
Dress for Men
Dark, pressed jeans are sometimes considered appropriate when worn with a collared shirt; slacks are always an acceptable choice. Jackets are usually optional; ties are not necessary.
Footwear
Generally speaking, street shoes are considered appropriate for upscale casual, but not tennis shoes, flip-flops or other beach-type footwear.
Unacceptable Items

If, as the main news announcement on the main page states, this is in fact the last con attendance of the year for the PS team, does that mean there is no Bay Area M&G?

I see myself going to the M&G from 7 - 7:45, then back to the convention center for the VB panel, then back to the M&G around 10:30...then drifting into the After Hours party!

Word. Dress codes are terrible. Jeans & t-shirt for me, and if they don't let me in then **** 'em.

Are you planning to take a cab between the Javits Center and the M&G? It's a 25 blocks run between them and doubling the parking costs is crazy. And using the subway would involve way more time than 15 mins.

Absolutely taking a cab - only better way around the city would be a helicopter...or jetpack!

Come on guys! Why you saying you not going to dress up? It not that bad! I want to see everyone in handsome attire, or very fashionable fitting outfits. It is the Hudson hotel where cheapest room a night is being 400.00+.. just for one night! So please try to understanding this isn't some club scene, it's meant for a more mature crowd with nice taste in clothing. ! Plus it will giving you a chance to show your suave side, and us ladies not wanting see poorly dressed or half okay dressed men when we go through the trouble of looking very dance-appropriate!

On this side note, ya phillygirl! I bringing out own skirt or maybe top combo. I may going to New York to buying a new dress, and heels for the night! We should have a pre-meet shop spree! And maybe we can dragging along some of the guys and dressing them up for them if they have style malfunction.

I say navy, black, dark purple, tan khakis. Brown or Black dress shoes. An offset colored shirt, so no MATCHING colors. Like navy kahki okay with dark purple shirt, tan shirt is not okay with navy kahki, dark purple kahki, or tan. If bright colors: White, Off-white, light blue, or off yellow(bright tan) a darker color shirt with this color will look nice. Only matching white with white if you're going to do this. Same rule applies with all slaxs. Too much black, or white and black is common. u.u; It not funeral, it not wedding. Dress shoes, or business casual is nice. Remember that belt for men usually match the shoes. If you must wearing jeans and a t-shirt at least making it look with effort and fixing hair! Don't just spray it around unless you want to relive 80's or maybe even the 60-70's. Nothing wrong with this just little outdated.

And with that being said, who buying my first drink? ? Other than Black Pebble. ^^;
