Could it be the Devs no longer hate villains???

Yes indeed!

This makes tilting at windmills in all those endless dead-horse beating merger threads worth it!

Nah. It just would've been too resource-intensive to keep up the split markets.

I must tip my hat to you for your continuing on in the fight. I lost hope 18-24 months ago.

total kick to the gut

The fight for Moment of Glory taught me to never give up. Strangely, people told me that the world would end if MoG was buffed too....

The City of Heroes Community is a special one and I will always look fondly on my times arguing, discussing and playing with you all. Thanks and thanks to the developers for a special experience.

The only downside I can see about this is that they'll be cancelling a bids prior to the merger. That only affects the multi-billionaires among us because if you have a character that has way more than the 2B limit in bids (I have a number that fall into this category) then you could potentially lose your influence.

I foresee a rash of banking alts created just prior to merger.

It's creating a seismic shift in my game approach. I had been all about clearing out and heading to blue sobbing softly over the loss of my three favorite parts of red side: Mayhems, Patrons (yes really) and Television.

Add to the fact that we will be able to trade and email across factions I feel like I was caught in an explosion. This must be what a true headasplode feels like.

Ditto. Despite what the RP weirdos think, this will actually enhance the freedom to RP.

I have a few characters that I fully intended to switch to hero for no other reason than the markets. Now they can stay villains (or go Rogue) because I will have access to markets and can twink between the sides.

I was just wondering if they are going to do away with the idea that you leave your influence/infamy behind when you switch. I mean as it stands with her announcement you can just store it in the market or email it to yourself across factions any way.

The way I read the announcement, the inf will remain stored on the market until you claim it. So unless I'm misunderstanding something, you won't lose any inf.

Kudos. This was absolutely necessary to GR, and they were wise to switch strategies. (After reading a topic in which every single person was talking about moving their villains and nobody about moving heroes, you could see what would happen IF that had been representative of what people would do at launch. Not merging was effectively gambling the viability of the whole concept of opposing groups, which GR is about, upon the belief that migration would be balanced.)

Not RPers. Just Altoholic. A merged economy even makes RP sense.

This demonstrates an ability to switch methods rather significatly during development due to feedback. Cool, and hopefully it means not only that there will be no inf escrow, but no prestige escrow. Merged SGs please!

A game is not supposed to be some kind of... place where people enjoy themselves!

It's in the FAQ. You lose nothing when you switch.

Sig updated. This is the best announcement ever. It does me so much good to know that the devs will make the right decisions for the good of the game.

Victory at last!

You know, if the new "improved" market GUI is the price that had to be paid to get merged markets, I think I can live with that.

Finally.

Was finishing up my MA/Nin Stalker's PvP build (yes yes, lolz now) and there were all of two Unbounded Leap: + Stealth available below level 50.

Bring on the merged markets so my infamy can BUY STUFF.
Bring them on so I can sell my goods to heroes AND villains.

A tip of the hat to everyone from Miladys Knight to JoJo to the smelly goat to Fulmens to Geko that did all the legwork so that we may all profit.

Hallelujah the witch is dead and RP reasons didn't stop it from happening.

Un-be-lie-va-ble! This is easily the most stunning news I have ever seen in this game. The logic & simplicity of a single market somehow overcame all objections, despite the fact I can never recall seeing anything from any Dev indicating in any way that they saw the merit of the market merger arguments. Kudos to those who never gave up on the good fight.

These Devs continue to surprise me & make this game better & better. I guess some kudos are due to them too.

I'll throw some random ideas out there why this is terrible:

-Items will 'cost' more since both factions will be bidding on them.

-Less items will be available since more people will bid on them.

-Heroes will still benefit from the merged markets since they generate more Merits per capita.

-Heroes have had more influence forever and thus will dwarf the redsider's purchasing power.

-The merge will benefit flippers

-The merge will harm flippers

-Flipper needs salvage like the rest of us, who cares?
