Oh Joygasm! Merged Markets!
I'm really glad of this. I was starting to fear with all the discussion I'd seen of people bailing on redside just because of the lack of goods that my beloved redside would become empty.
Now if people bail to go blue they must prefer:
1) more noobs in their PUGs
2) having to travel all over to do arcs since Jack Emmert wanted people to travel alot in the original vision
3) having tons of extra unused zones -- seriously...when was the last time Boomtown or Dark Astoria had more than like 8 people in them at once? (even that is only cause a group went in to do a mission because see #2 above)
4) lamer bank missions where you can't even break stuff
5) tanks to brutes and/or defenders to corruptors
6) the devs not hating them
7) the ability to get to 50 w/o knowing what a train station is
Yaaaay for the devs on merging things.....I think it'll be for the best.
To everyone who says prices will rise I disagree....and here's why.
The amount of stuff put on market will rise along with increased demand and larger markets tend to be more "efficient" than smaller lower liquidity ones. Additionally for every niche blueside/redside there will now be an automatic competitor from the other side who was playing the same niche. Competition without advertising almost always leads to lower prices.
So then, what are you all going to complain about after the merger when villains still can't afford recipes?

Awesome news, indeed.
This announcement has saved our Villain group as we would have gone Hero side only due to the Villain market being what it is.
Yaaa twice in one day
Enjoy your day please.

I'm not sure if you're serious. The problem with the red market isn't a lack of cash on the part of villains, it's a lack of supply. The reason my WP brute isn't kitted out with Kinetic Combats isn't because I can't afford the five sets I want, it's because they just aren't there to buy.

I logged in and saw the announcement and just about fell out of my chair. I'm so glad this is happening.
In truth, I'm more excited about being able to send stuff cross-faction and actually be able to give a team mate an inspiration in co-op missions.
If prices for things go up, it's not a big deal. Making Inf in this game is stupidly easy.

What is the reason for the relative lack of supply redside?
I honestly don't get all the RP-blaming. I'm an RPer, and I think a market merge is a good thing that's long overdue. I can think of a half-dozen RP justifications or excuses for a combined market, should I choose to acknowledge it in-character at all. The only thing keeping them separate was game design, which has apparently been rethought.
Don't blame players; blame the designers at Cryptic and/or Paragon who made and upheld the decision, and have finally reversed it.

See where this is going? I don't think that this chang will break the hoarding mentality, since it happens on both sides. But it might at least encourage more movement of assets, and that would be a good thing.

Huzzah!
And just maybe, you'll have a lower barrier of resistance for folks willing to play redside now that it will be easier to kit up a toon leveraging resources pooled from blueside.

Also prices on Redside are pretty high because supply is pretty low and those that do have money are willing to spend a pile to get things that are nearly valuless/or cheap on blueside.
I am very pleased to see this happen. As someone who actually has some heroes that he is planning on taking redside, I was dreading the ghost town that red seemed destined to become.
Grats to all those who kept up the clamor. I am only a wee 1.5 billionaire even I can see that this will change our pricing strategies, at least short term until the flow of goods redside equals out.
I think that this means prices will rise across the board as all that redside inf will be joined with blue chasing the goods. I certainly hope that there are stockpile redside waiting to be liquidated or prices will certainly scoot up.
2. The merits are incredibly far from balance, requiring much harder tasks from villains to get them. This is because the merits are, absurdly, length only, with no adjustments according to difficulty, TFs quit (especially important to RSF), or player skill (which is much higher in most villain teams for many reasons).
3. There are MUCH more farmable arcs for heroes, especially Praetorian arcs.
A game is not supposed to be some kind of... place where people enjoy themselves!
My only "complaint" is that I rather like having two pools to play in rather than just one. No biggie.
