  1. I need some help with a Stone/KM build. I hope someone can post a good build for leveling and solid post-granite build with some IO suggestions. I know next to nothing about Stone Armor, so any general tips would be helpful. This one might be a little tight on the budget, but a few million to get something decent is fine

Should I be more concerned with slotting for recharge, defense, or a combination of the two? Thanks in advance.
  2. I’ve got an Elec/Elec brute hanging around in his 40s and I’m looking for a few good builds to study in Mids before I respec him. My goal isn’t anything out of the ordinary: I’d like to add a layer of defense and have some good recharge. This character solos, teams, and gets exemped down pretty regularly. PvP isn’t an issue.

I’m not expecting a soft capped defense build, but it would be great to land a 33% S/L build. Pretty large budget to work with and I can always make more, so how about a cheap IO build and a fairly tricked out build? One to use and one to work for. Thanks in advance.

    Fear me!!!

Cloak of Fear is great for keeping the minions in line, but it won’t lock down the lieutenants or bosses without extra help. If you were Dark/Dark you could use Touch of Fear with the Cloak and put the fear of you into bosses with only one application. Since Fraidy Cat is Claws/Dark you’re stuck with the Presence Pool to supply that extra dose of “boo” since none of the Epic sets for scrappers have Fearsome Stare as an option. You may just have to look at ways of increasing your recharge to make the Presence Pool powers more palatable.
  4. Looks like a pretty solid scraptroller build. Should be fun to run.
  5. Keeping my email clear and pulling the stuff that would be irritating to loose
  6. Folks will still complain. There are even a few complaints I’m expecting to see post merge like:

“Now it’s even harder to buy what I want because everyone can now bid on it”

    or

“I had to pauper my X, Y, and Z characters to purple out my warshade and now X, Y, and Z can’t buy anything they need.”

    or

“It’s now even easier for marketeers to flip stuff and make tons of money. They are going to drive prices even higher since they can spend even more and the “casual player” will never have a chance to make that kind of money to buy the good stuff.”

    Etcetera, etcetera, etcetera, ad nauseum.

There is nothing really new in those few imaginary examples off the top, just updated variations of the same old songs. Well maybe the first one is a touch more original, but in the end amounts to the same sort of “did that really make sense to you” look of bemused bafflement that I know has crossed my face when reading some of the complaints about the market and marketeers that land in this forum or in-game from time-to-time.

    This.

I've already been accused of being a pirate for making some early purchases in advance of the merger and I can only guess at how many folks who don't pay attention to the market are going to howl about how they got fleeced come the merge.
  8. 865M.

This has been a great thread, Fury. It would have been interesting to see it done redside, but with the merger coming there isn't much need.
  9. Neither of the builds I posted are all that hard on the blue bar, so I've already been toying with the idea of either dropping DC or moving slots out of it. Thanks again for giving them a look over.
  10. Thanks for the feedback. Here is an upgraded second build:

  11. With GR coming up in the not too distant future, I decided to tune up my fear-based DM/DA scraptroller for the new content. I’d like some feedback from you worthy folks. I did a little reading here on the Scrapper forum and changed a few things around to up my defense without having to spend too much time at the market.

I have a few goals in mind with this build:
    1) Never worry about endurance, even in a long fight
    2) Have all my attacks hit regularly
    3) Being able to exemp without any huge issues
    4) Have a respectable level of defense rolling

Right now defense should be running 24.9% S/L, 23% melee, and about 15.5 everywhere else at level 50. I do not plan on trying to softcap my defense or seriously try to PvP with this build. Solo and team PvE will do just fine.

Some of the levels of the enhancement slots are not right and will get fixed (e.g. No, I'm not waiting that long to slot up Siphon Life), I'm hoping more for a critique of the overall build.

Please let me know what you think and thanks in advance.

A die hard socialist might prefer cutting loose in the game, slicing and dicing their way through the game economy, secure in the knowledge that IT'S JUST A GAME. I don't kill "villains", "heroes" or "other players" in the real world either.
This. Seriously. A game economy where everyone has roughly the same ability to earn rewards that can be converted into in-game lucre versus a real world economy with all of the variables it entails has apples and oranges overtones. The game economy will follow some the same principles as real world economies (e.g. supply and demand), but I doubt a drought in the Midwest is going to impact the price of Thorn Tree Vines the same way that drought would impact the price of soybeans. That being the case, attempting to read someone’s real world politics into their behavior in a game market is essentially a sophist exercise. At best.
  13. The short answer is: “No, influence isn’t all that hard to come by.”

The longer answer is something closer to: “No, because if you know what you’re doing, you can’t swing the proverbial dead cat in this game without hitting something you can use to fatten your influence bank.”

Transforming the flogging exercise with roadkill de feline into a profitable venture instead of a test of the tensile strength of cat tail is, as someone else mentioned, a case of knowing how to do it. There already is plenty of information available here to rectify any “know how” gap a hapless wanderer may have, so arguing ignorance is of limited value. This is true of most things including algebra, rocket science, baking cookies, what have you. Once you know how to do it, it isn’t really all that hard anymore.

Others in this thread have already bantered about why this information is seemingly unobtainable, or at least unused, by the whingers, so I’ll toss out another odd tidbit that I’ve noticed in my occasional attempts to educate the ignorant when it comes to making influence on the market:

I’ve run across the odd individual ranting and railing against not just the market, but marketeers as well. And it is not the usual line that marketeers are the ones responsible for inflating prices and creating scarcity, nor is it directed specifically at the billionaire’s club. It is directed at anyone who dares to the use the market for anything besides a garbage disposal for reward drops and a store for IO recipes. If you start to mention ways they could turn their drops into enough influence to buy what they want at a price they can live with, you’re stigmatized as a malodorous slime-dweller whose sole purpose is to extract their fun with a gaff large enough to land a tuna.

While such characterizations aren’t worth more than an eye roll, or perhaps a gift of a ball of aluminum foil accompanying some good advice about the use of I5 as recreational facility, this attitude goes beyond being intentionally uncaring and straight into reactionary.

What does all that mean? Not much. It is just sort of interesting.

  17. I'd say keep your initial group of investors small to start with. A test group to work out any kinks. Have a scheduled pay out time for dividends set up, for example, every other Friday at 9:00pm EST or something. Those are just a couple of ideas that might help.

My questions for you would be, “What server?” and “What are you thinking would be a reasonable minimum investment?”
  18. Most of my criminals are ladies and not really all that evil, at least not on this server. Most of the ladies I know like kittens and can’t help being nice to them, even the ones I know beyond a shadow of a doubt are evil. Liking a touch of realism in my characters, my criminal cartel on Virtue would likely stay true to that form: pet the kitten, play with the kitten, and turn it into a shelter.

There are only two exceptions to the above scenario: 1) My mastermind, who is a guy, would ignore the kitten. Unless no one was looking, in which case he’d at least pet the kitten. 2) My stalker. She doesn’t like cats. She chases cats for practice. She thinks cats make way too much noise when caught. She would pick the kitten up by the tail, sniff it, drop it in the nearest dumpster until it got old enough to chase. She usually doesn’t kill cats, preferring to use a catch and release method so she doesn’t deplete the population of practice targets.

On the other hand, I do have a former Carnie girl on Pinnacle that would use a kitten, puppy, or innocent bystander as ball for some impromptu batting practice (war mace brute).
  19. Finally got the one unicorn I’ve never gotten on a drop, the Miracle +Recovery. Got all the levels I wanted and actually made quite a bit of money. I’ll admit to being a little surprised. I was expecting to just stock up this weekend, but I was still able to move some stuff at a respectable profit.

  20. I’m one of those weirdos who likes to have a plan of attack for double xp weekends. This time around I met all of my goals by Saturday. Managed to level of couple of other alts I don’t play that often on Sunday. Made a bloody fortune on my now level 47 shield tank and will finish setting him out with unabashed glee once the market settles. I did run into the constant mapserve issue on two servers, but still managed to get fire imps on my Dom.

I had no trouble finding teams and my shadow only crossed the threshold of AE twice for all of about 3 missions the whole weekend.

All in all, a good double xp. Nice that there was no free reactivation.

I rolled a LOTG +7.5% last night. And it's one of the things I needed too.

I love it when that happens.
