Discussion: The City of Heroes 2010 Meet and Greet Tour!
Well, another Canadian here, hoping to meet some Devs in person.
If not this year, then perhaps 2011 or 2012?

or

I only suggest the latter because, despite having a focus on anime and manga, there is a substancial attendence of folks from gamer communities. For instance, there are plans for a sizeable Steam/TF2 community to gather all its members (including those who live overseas) and visit in 2011.
Also, if the IGDA hosts any interesting event in the area, or if you think it might be fun to come for the T.O. Game Jam ( http://www.tojam.ca/history/2010.asp ), then that would be fantastic too!
Looking forward to attending my first Herocon this year, reading this saddened me. I can't justify spending the money to travel cross country just for a dinner. Congrats to those this helps, but yeah, /unsigned.
I don't think I can justify a six hour drive from Southern California to Northern California if it isn't going to be a full blown event. This makes me sad.

My vote is for Gen Con. Although I live in Denver and would love something closer, my uncle goes to Gen Con every year. So even if I can't make it myself, I can abuse him to get me something if you bring any of your awesome merchandise!
How about, for those of us in the EU game territories, a virtual meet and greet instead on the Test Server? We've had you over here before, most recently being for the 6th year game aniversaries, it'd give us a chance to provide feedback, talk about what we like and so forth, without the expensive of flying out to the states/flying back.
Yes, it's not meatspace, and there probably wouldn't be any goodies on offer (Unless you count costume codes), but it'd suit me fine. I and from the crowd in the Training server, many others just enjoyed yakking in a non-forum based manner.
Eh... kind of disappointed. Nearly all of my in-game friends have been attending Hero-Con and this was the year I planned to go. They're spread out across the US, so Hero-Con was really the only opportunity to see them all together. I don't see any of these smaller ones as being worth it for all of them to show up.
Hopefully Hero-Con shows up back up next year, I guess.
Dragon*Con is closest to me, so I'd pick that first, but...
GenCon is in my second home of Indianapolis and I'm long overdue for a visit.
decisions, decisions...
Looks like Dragon*Con is the same weekend as PAX, so that's probably out, which is a shame since that would be perfect.
If that's the case, I'd vote for Gen Con (early August), Origins (late June), or the Chicago Comicon (mid August) in that order. Although, an appearance in TX would be completely justified as well.

What about having one in Texas?
I live in College Station, and Mark and I would love to attend one. Lisa. |
Yep, Dragon*Con won't happen this year, since that's the same weekend as PAX West.
So my bet is they're shooting for GenCon, which I was hoping to at least head over to for a day. So that would work for me. I would also vote for Origins, since I'm definitely going to be there. The Chicago Comic Con (aka Wizard World) would be good too, I'd just have to figure out how to swing two trips to Chicago in as many months.
I'd prefer Origins, but could also try to make my way to Gencon if that's where is chosen!
Very bummed about lack of Hero-con. couldn't go last year because my grandfather was in the hospital and really wanted to go this year. Oh well.
GenCon Indy - it's been a few years since you've attended and we'd love to have you back. There was some other game with superheroes last year there but the original is always the best! And we have cookies!
I'd like to see a Hero Con thingy like type fellow in MN o.0 They have a lovely metrodome and target convention center o.o And the Mall of Amercia, the sponers alone should cover it..
Then I might be able to go...

Note: If you're still up in the air over which "other" non-west-coast con to attend, I urge you in the strongest possible manner to consider either GenCon or Origins. Both are centrally located in the US, both are VERY sizable cons.
While Origins might be nice for lots of people, you're still limiting yourself to the coasts and telling people who live in the middle of the country that they need to go 1500-2000 miles.
And while I live in Chicago, I couldn't recommend it as a stopover for this for any reason. While it's friendly for some tradeshows, multi-day conventions in Chicago SUCK. And they're almost as expensive for area locals as they are for out-of-staters due to Chicago's fiscally predatory nature.
One more thing please. Make the announcement MORE THAN TWO WEEKS BEFORE THE EVENT!
Announcing that you were attending an already-sold-out event kinda put a really bad taste in people's mouths.
My guess is that they're considering the Wizard World Texas event here in Austin this November. It's central (compared to the other four), an existing event, and NCsoft has an office here already to help staff the event. Of course, that works for me, being in Austin.
Personally, I made a point to get out to HeroCon each year, and went to the pre-HeroCon M&G way back when. I'll consider the NorCal event, but that was a pretty expensive trip for just a couple days of stuff (and only one official evening of stuff). I have friends that I only see at HeroCon, so this kind of bums me out. I liked how the con was growing and improving each year.

GenCon in Indy is my vote. It's about as midwest as you can get, has a huge number of attendees, and just happens to be somewhere I could get to in order to see you guys!
For those in Europe, didn't War Witch herself go to England not too long ago and make an appearance? It's not like they never head out there.
I would have voted for Dragon*Con since it's fairly close to me, but oh well. Something in the midwest or southwest should be priority, since you've got the coasts covered.
Thanks for trying new things, Paragon.
Loose --> not tight.
Lose --> Did not win, misplace, cannot find, subtract.
One extra 'o' makes a big difference.
Another vote for some kind of European event, possibly the Eurogamer Expo

Whelp, looks like I get more vacation days to myself this year.
Hope everyone enjoys the meet and greets.
Me, I would have vastly preferred hero-con. I too don't care for small events at larger events that I have no interest in attending for whatever reason.

Look, if you put it on the West coast, the folks on the East coast are going to complain, and vice-versa. In my opinion, Gen Con Indy and Dragon Con work because they've got something to offer to just about everyone who shows up, and they're pretty much equally inconvenient to everyone in North America, or at least the coasts.
Personally, I'd prefer Gen Con Indy because 1) you just can't go wrong with Gen Con, B) it's close to where I live, which means that you East and West coasters will have to travel to me for a change, iii) Gen Con is so huge that there's probably a good chance a lot of CoX players are already heading there, and *) if this comes to pass, I've already got tickets and a room that I can sell immediately for a HUGE profit.
To be fair, I haven't been to Dragon Con in over a decade, but having a CoX event there would be a pretty compelling reason to break that streak. I mean, it's not like it's hard to get to Atlanta; like it or not, I seem predestined to show up there at least once whenever I travel by plane. Also, Dante's Down the Hatch is always a compelling reason to visit, because it's essentially Disney's Pirates of the Caribbean ride with a liquor license.
I understand that hosting an event at either of these Cons would entail a good amount of money, but there's no reason it has to be an Official Con Event(tm). I figure odds are pretty good that there are going to be Paragon Studios staff in attendance at both, and even if Paragon Studios doesn't have a booth or a ton of goody bags to hand out at either, I'm sure I'm not the only player who wouldn't mind hanging out with them and other players in an informal capacity.

Now, more than ever, Paragon City needs heroes. Do your part to save it.
I may be biased (see: location) but Gen Con sounds like a good idea to me.
