    Greetings!

    Scared yet?

Oh! Wait, I missed an R.
    Scarred yet?

    Welcome aboard.
  2. On servers like Pinnacle, where there's a sizeable roleplay community (or rather, _quite_ a few small, semi-isolated roleplay groups) but also a large number of non-roleplayers, putting the "[RP]" or "((Roleplayer))" or what-have-you in their Character Description is more of a way to help other roleplayers find them. Sort of like having a rainbow sticker on your bumper in certain places.

On Pinnacle I can definitely vouch for the fact that there are some silly roleplayers and some serious roleplayers, and there have been a lot of schisms due to butting heads. Someone takes offense at someone else, etc, etc, etc.
And, of course, there are some roleplayers who get along with either, but aren't exactly just one or the other exclusively.

Just as there are those who like to roleplay more than they like to do missions, or those who sometimes will drop all pretense of roleplay just to grind at maximum capacity.

In any event, welcome seebs! I do hope you enjoy yourself, and find a community which really improves your experiences here!
  3. Additionally, more Trays would be handy, I think. With combined Temporary, Craftable, Mission, Booster, and Veteran (non-Auto) Powers, it's not too difficult to exceed the 90 slot limit.
If it would be possible to, perhaps, double-click on the numerical ID of a Tray, and then manually type the desired value in, that would be fantastic! With a system like that, it (hopefully) wouldn't be too much of a hastle for a player to get from Tray 1 to Tray 50 (for example).

    But be on guard-

And wouldn't it then also be logical to state that, even with limited power, Rularuu could retaliate as well?
Even if it's not zone-wide retaliation. Maybe if they just retaliate in the base you launched the Cathedral from. That would be fun, no? PvE Base Raid!
  5. Actually, I believe there was a ZIP file on the FTP a while back for just such a thing. I remember downloading it, and while it didn't have ALL the music that is currently in-game, it did have a fair deal of it.
If you would like, I can re-ZIP my files and send it to you somehow, if no one else can conjure up that old FTP link.

    But be on guard-

Seems I'm not the only one with this line of thinking. Posted elsewhere:

. . . does anyone else read this as: "Complete the Trial, and a zone-wide Rularuu invasion will occur" such as the Zombie or Rikti Invasions?

[Someone expressed doubt, stating the context of the announcement was that we are DEpowering Rularuu with our success.]

Hmm, what about the reverse then? FAIL the Cathedral, and an invasion occurs?
But, really, how about the Lady Grey Tastrike Force? Completing it triggers a Rikti Invasion, correct? How does that make sense? Or rather, how is that any different than completing the Cathedral of Pain to trigger a Rularuu Invasion?

[Same person followed up with statement to the effect that there are vocal players who don't like invasion events.]

I've noticed a few players who speak against zone-wide events such as that for lag/performance reasons, as well as stating they don't find them enjoyable . . . but I've also seen quite a few posts by users asking for the old Rularuu Invasions of Issue 2 (or was it Issue 1?) to return.

    Assuming invasions are being planned:
Triggering the invasion with a failed attempt of the Cathedral, without a back-up timer to counter constant back-to-back invasions, could actually be a really devastating griefing tool.

Considering how difficult the Cathedral has been [Redacted], triggering the Invasion from the successful completion of the Cathedral will reduce their likelihood substantially.

[Redacted] Soon, we will hopefully have our answer, though.
  7. Webcomics.

Seriously! Don't just limit to the "super hero" ones either. Go to GraphicSmash.com or Keenspot.com / Keenspace.com / ComicGenesis.com
Those starving artists would kill for a little money, and despite the apparent quality of some of these comics, they DO get a great deal of traffic.

Saturate the webcomic advertisting market! Go! Go! Go!

    Mender Silos...

I frankly find it easier to see Ouroborus content exactly how it's described: None of it matters. It'll all be undone again by some OTHER temporal tampering. Both Characters A and B were given the mission by Silos, but neither of them are any more the the world's savior/the destined one/whatever than the other.
Nemesis is just using Ouroboros to toughen up heroes and villains alike, giving them a scenario to play out which he thinks is best suited for that given character's moral alignments.

    Doodie, eh?

I really can't subscribe to the concept that we're each the star in some canned universe, that is far too much of a disrespect to all the other players' characters. Any content written that way always leaves a very sour taste in my mouth. Repeatable, from a canonical standpoint, is the way I'd rather things go. And, every now and again, have some once-in-a-lifetime event that can give players the opportunity to make history with their characters.
  9. Ah, but the matter here is instead the context. Baako and Ventiir are both "happy" members of the Banished Pantheon group. Tielekku actively and openly disproves of that Pantheon, and was apparently the one who banished them!
Thus, in the context of the song, where Neil Young disproved of the racism and conduct he saw rampant in the south u.s. and wrote two songs stating as much . . . Tielekku was none-too-pleased with that Pantheon, and likely isn't too happy about Dark Astoria's current state either.

For the revised song's sake, I propose:
Well I heard miss Tielekku sing about us
Well, I heard ole 'lekku put us down
Well, I hope Tielekku will remember
A graveyard man don't need her around anyhow
  10. All my attempts, thus far, have not worked.
I've tried to make the Archvillains rescueable, and have them betray the player when they get to the objective . . . but then there's actually a way to get them to fight one another, which just isn't what I'm looking for.
I've tried to put them in a specialized Critter Group, but then I can't guaruntee that one of each will spawn, or how many will spawn in a mob.

Is there some method I've missed?

    Mender Silos...

I think Manticore would sooner take one of his own enema arrows in the eye LONG before he allowed himself to become Nemesis/Silos.
And Protean . . . well, [SPOILERS] whoever is behind the letters and is moving against Silos has conscripted Protean (and Ajax).

All of this is already explained with in-game canon (well, all expect the self-inflicted retinal enema).
  12. *gives Fleeting Whisper a standing ovation*

Although, the replacement line about "old Neil" should probably have been "Tielekku" instead of "Ventiir."
  13. I think BrandX's suggestion of "Moddie" works.
  14. I suspect this "new" Mod knows all about us, and requires no warnings, saist.
*points to Its own eyes, then to Mod12*

. . . oh, wait. That's your job, not mine. *flees*

    Welcome and congratulations.
  15. Something like this could be handy for my Banished Deities arc. I want to be able to have all five Banished Pantheon gods together in a single mob, with no repeats or anyone left out, but all my current attempts at creating this haven't worked.
  16. "I like pie."
    Oh . . . wait: http://VileTerror.Keenspace.com/MmmmPie.jPg
(image cropped to remove potentially offensive content. If you want the original, drop me a line)
  17. Alternatively, they could remove the limit on storage.
Or, potentially, make the Temp Power Recipes not count towards said storage limit.
Still would rather more storage space, for all things.
  18. Also going to put my thumbs up in approval of the idea of signs with street names! Sure, maybe not feasible, but it would still be fantastic!
It would improve immersion AND allow players another means of locating things.

    "Need help at -3431.1 0.0 78.2!"
    "What?"
"Need help on the corner of Bold and Hughson!"
    "AH!"
  19. Or, potentially, working with another Mind Controller also single-target stacking with you?
Mind Control also has two other Hold powers, correct? I suspect Total Domination's Mag stacks. I'm not sure about Telekinesis though . . .
In any event, is there something along these lines which may thematically be appropriate for Dominate instead?
  20. Well, if new players honestly don't know about free updates, then the marketing team should just sell that point more strongly in their advertisements. Right, I know. We need a marketing team first.

Even still, if I were a new player, I would be repulsed by being /forced/ to purchase additional content just to play the game.
For example: I have not bought the add-ons for Heroes of Might and Magic: V. I really liked the basic game itself, and enjoyed some time playing online. Then they introduced the two expansions, and all the online players migrated to a version of the game I couldn't play. I had no interest in shelling out money when they could have kept the expansions backwards compatible.

In an MMO, community drives a large portion of the playerbase. Forcing players to purchase expansions might generate the company more money than free content . . . but I suspect they'd be losing more players, rather than attracting more.
Personally, I think it may end up being a regrettable decision to tie Incarnates to Going Rogue. And if I actually cared about "end game" content, I'd probably make a fuss about it to.

What I think the Devs _ARE_ doing correctly with Going Rogue, though, is making it a "levels 1 to 20" add-on. Coupled with the game's already alt-friendly nature, this expansion shouldn't be alienating any existing customers who aren't inclined or able to purchase the add-on.
  21. Now that War Witch is Captain of the Good Ship Paragon, you should all have taken Thursday off.
OY! And where's /that/ thread, eh Ocho? Eh? EH?!
  22. Very recently my brain suddenly decided to stab me with an idea. (Ouch)

I'm profoundly interested in Control sets in this game. I derive enjoyment from preventing my foes from doing anything, while still having them as active targets in combat. Even if I can't defeat them on my own, I just like the feeling that I've effectively neutered them.

To that end, I'd like to propose a little change to the Single-Target Hold powers in the Controller (and possibly Dominator) Control Sets. Non-Controller(/Dominator) Single-Target Holds would not be affected by this proposal.

The basic run-down: Adjust the powers ever-so-slightly so that their effectiveness increases the longer that the afflicted target remains undefeated, while the player continues to apply said power to that specific target.

For my examples, I will be using the current "Show Details" information of the Controller powers, as they appear on the Live server.

    Fossilize:
Reduce the -20 Defense Debuff to -15
Add a Stackable -1.5 Defense Debuff with a 120 second duration

    Char:
Add a Stackable -1.75 Resistance Debuff with a 120 second duration
    (Slow-roasting their armour)

    Gravity Distortion:
Reduce the -62.5 Travel Debuff to -57.5
Add a Stackable -2.5 Travel Debuff with a 120 second duration
Reduce the 1.6 Mag Fly Suppression to 1.1 Mag
Add a Stackable .5 Mag Fly Suppression with a 100 second duration

    Block of Ice:
Reduce the -37.5 Travel Debuff to -35
Add a Stackable -1 Travel Debuff with 120 second duration
Reduce the -37.5 Recharge Debuff to -35
Add a Stackable -1 Recharge Debuff with 120 second duration

    Blind:
    Add a Stackable -2 To-Hit Debuff with a 135 second duration
(Throwing punches/Shooting with retinal burn causing them to hit less often)

    Dominate:
Reduce the Mag 3 Hold component to 2.75
Add a Stackable Mag .25 Hold to the power with a 120 second duration.

    Strangler:
Add a Stackable -2 Damage Debuff with a 120 second duration
(The itchy plants make it more difficult for them to strike with full strength)

I know we can have fractions in Knockback and Knockup Mag, but this silly little idea of mine hinges on the presumption that we can have factions of other Status Effects.

    The final effect?
Marginally reduced performance compared to current Live levels while spreading the Hold around to multiple targets, one-at-a-time. Indeed, most Minions and Lieutenants will appear unaffected, since they'll just be Held anyway. However, we would see the benefit of some various status effect buffage when said Single-Target Holds are focussed on a single target with suitably high Hold Protection.
In fact, with most Single-Target Holds having a Recharge of about 8 seconds _unenhanced_, one could see an additional 33% Recharge/Travel Debuff from Block of Ice, or a bonus 88% to the Defense Debuff of Fossilize! Or a whopping 117% percent increase in the Mag of Dominate's Hold . . .
Too powerful? Well, I'm sure we can adjust the numbers accoridngly.

Stepping on Defenders' (or Corruptors'/Masterminds') Toes?
Defenders are, understandably, supposed to be the top Debuffers. I can't deny that this entire suggestion may ultimately be for naught as Controllers probably shouldn't be receiving any sort of benefit which might allow them to outperform Defenders.
Similarly, if we applied this to Dominators, then they might be crossing a line in to a performance zone which was meant for Corruptors and Masterminds.

    Why'd I post this?
Boredom, mostly. I fully realize that chances are VERY slim that this will actually come in to effect. Still, the exercise is one that has entertained me in the absence of [REDACTED]. Of course, while most folks seem content to blame Snow Globe, I point my finger squarely at Castle, and the Deployment and Production Team! FOR SHAME!

But, more importantly, this is the sort of thing I wish I had a time machine for. I'd go back and make this suggestion before Containment contaminated Controllers. I could never promote the removal of Containment, even if Controllers got something far better in return. It's been around far too long, and is apparently loved by most. But, really, this is the sort of thing that would make Controllers more enjoyable for me. It's the sort of thing that would make me feel . . . well, "super" I suppose.
  23. Bikini 2 and Bikini 3 for with Shorts/Skirts. This used to be available (and I have some characters with the legacy configuration), but now only Bikini 1 is available for the Shorts/Skirts lower torso category.

I believe everyone's "favourite" news reporter from the Rogue Isles actually still has the legacy configuration as well.
  24. I'm so sorry, Schismatrix! I had no idea!
I shall attempt to remedy this.
  25. Well . . . I WAS going to post about not "getting it" . . . but after Nethergoat's link, I finally see. I see, and my eyes hurt from it!
*picks up a torch* Let the lynching begin!
