The Longest Wait
The Spring event should hit sometime in February/March.
However, I too am looking for some substantial news to hit this month. And by that I mean more news than just what the new Veteran reward will be....
Go Team Venture!
Didn't the Devs say there will be an issue before GR launches? I'm not sure what it will have, but it's something.

"A great love is alot like a good memory. When it's there and you know it's there, but it's just out of your reach. It can be all that you think about. You can focus on it and try to force it but the more you do, the more you seem to push it away. But if you're patient and hold still...maybe...just maybe...it will come to you. I just need to be somewhere she can find me" - Church from Red vs Blue
Really? Because I remember everyone coming back from Herocon saying that there wasn't going to be an i17. Maybe, maybe, if the devs had a lot of time on their hands or GR was delayed beyond a certain point.
This is, of course, hearsay. Though I haven't seen anything more substantial in this thread yet, so it should fit right in .
EDIT: Also, looking at this timeline, 7-8 months is not unheard of in terms of issue release dates.

Can't remember the exact places stated but it was an off the cuff remark that many of the upcoming perks like the reveal enemies after 90% defeated, possibly another Cim arc, and a few other things will probably happen before GR and just might be compiled all into one issue as opposed to to being individually released.
What they did say was that there were no plans for an Issue between I16 and GR, but that if the the graphics updates were finished before the rest of GR, then they might release them as a sort of mini-Issue before the rest of GR goes live - at least, that's what the reports from Hero Con were saying

Nah, this isn't a long wait. Issue 7 was a long wait.
If it brings enough content for most of the year, i'll wait!

The lack of info is a little disappointing, Blizzard currently has me going on a fair amount of Cataclysm info, with enough to keep me titillated until the next chunk, but with Going Rogue it was a splash of info at Hero Con, and not much since. Possibly nothing.
Just see my sig. Tired of repeating myself.

I blame Ross for the lack of info. And the rest of the Marketing Dept. So quick to keep info from players, so seemingly lax to let anything slip... or even advertise
I'm not really anxious, I just like bagging on Marketing people.
You're missing my point I fear. I'm not necessarily in a hurry for GR itself - my concern is that the long wait between I16 and GR (which I presume will de facto be I17) is too long.
The problem's exacerbated by the incredibly long wait we've had already given the untimely and mistaken announcement of GR, so soon after the 5th anniversary. (Ironically so very soon after Positron had spoken about "Stuff I can't talk about" too)

Q: How do you wreck an Abrams?
A: You crash into another one.

There was a 222 day wait for Issue 7. If Going Rogue comes out in the second quarter on the anniversary of CoH (a likely target date), then it will have been a 225 day wait, just three days longer than the previous longest wait time.
If GR would happen to come out the very first day of the second quarter, it will only have been a 198 day wait.

In your opinion. I don't see it that way, so don't say it as if it were fact.

Everything on these boards is opinion unless it is a fact stated by a Dev or forum mod but thanks for the heads up in exact and precise pedantry

I'm happily willing to wait as long as it takes, but I hope they start a steady flow of teaser news. Like something new every week. I don't care if it's really tiny like a screenshot of a new zone (think how many screenshots you could dole out of a single zone ), or a screenshot of a new enemy then a week later after we've had time to wildly speculate about him/her, some details on the pictured enemy. Basically do what CO did in the months leading up to their beta. Besides gameplay videos and screen shots, they posted concept art, little essays that explained their canon stories, all kinds of stuff.
I know it takes someone's valuable time to do this, but someone in Marketing should be tasked with this to help build some buzz. What I hope they don't do is one or two big reveals with tons of stuff widely spaced out in time, followed by a final big reveal when it goes live.

Nevermind Giant Monsters and Archvillains becoming near invincible, and Radiation controllers and defenders were nowhere to be found.....

So...
I16 landed in September.
We're allegedly due to get some news on GR "Soooooooooon(TM)" but already some are complaining that's not happened.
The big concern is not that we've not got news, it's that even if the announcement for Going Rogue comes today, it'll be at least three or four months before we actually get to experience it on the Live servers.
That means we could go as long as 7 or 8 months with no content updates at all (discounting a Walk power and a Booster Pack) since I16.
That's a long wait - and it's of concern. We have had 2 Event updates - Halloween and the WL stuff which was good while it lasted (not intending to get into a thing about the duration of the events here - that's a different discussion) but they are transient and whilst welcome, their seasonal nature means they have a finite shelf-life.
It's already been a reasonably long gap between issue updates since I16. But with no events to come between now and Easter (if there's anything there anyhow) and no issues planned/announced between now and GR it's going to be a very long gap which will continue to hemorrhage players as they get bored of waiting.
This is my biggest concern. I hope the Dev's can address this.
