  1. If any of you have Steam or a PS3, see you there.

For those that don't.......I hope to see you again out there somewhere. (It will be me as an alternate Knightphall spelling, as there are other people out there using the same online name that I've used here for years. And I thought I was unique.)

Snipers in other games are just about the same way....they can just kill you from a distance.

But like Snipers, I really REALLY hated Stalkers.

When it came to starting a jihad against stalkers, I was on the forefront.

Honestly, I play a lot of PVP in games....mostly fighters. I have a pretty thick skin when it comes to losing.

Until I faced stalkers in this game. Being killed by stalkers in this game (before i13) was the only thing that ever made me want to pick up my rig and throw it out of the window. Even being perfected when going up against someone with greater skill in a fighting game didn't make me angry. But stalkers......geeze they made me see red.

I guess it's due to usually not being able to see them before you die. When I played Metal Gear Online (before it was shut down) snipers caused me to act the same way.

I happen to be friends with the person who spammed every section with 2 Girls 1 Cup a few years ago.

I wasn't at the time, but years after that happened, it for some reason came up in conversation, and they casually mentioned it.

"That was YOU who did that?!" was my response. I'm still somewhat bitter.....I saw the video and couldn't eat for two days.

I guess I'll own up to somethings I used to do.

Before we had the option to see other's global names outside of global channels, somedays I would get bored and create a random character on another server, and troll every person who would walk by.

I did this to a friend on my home server. I'm hoping he sees this thread, so when he calls, I'll know why.

Before the timers for spamming were in the game, sometimes I would also flood broadcast like this:

    SPAM
    SPAM
    SPAM
    SPAM
    SPAM
    SPAM

Again, somedays I'd just get bored, and the reactions were quite hilarious. I stopped such behavior when I realized that it really wasn't who I was, and then two weeks later, we get the spam timers.

Lastly, I was a sucker for flame wars, and still am somewhat. It's like watching a ping pong match....your head goes back and forth between the two arguing parties. I wish our most recent one hadn't been deleted....

I second this. I was taking a break from the game for Diablo 3, but I did NOT unsubscribe. I was waiting on i24.
  9. So I thought it'd be fitting to end it on the same note, eh?

I won't start an origin story about how I started the game, or my journeys through it. Those stories have already been told. No, this thread's only purpose is to say how much of an honor it was to serve alongside you all.

Like others, there is a LOT about this game I will miss; the character creator for one. The unique powers, and the fact that somethings we will now never get or never see. (The remaining incarnate powers, the Batallion, the new pool powers, et al)

I won't miss my characters; they will live on. One of them is going back to Dungeons and Dragons (3.5 that is). Two of them are going back to wrestling games. The ones whose origins began in this game? I have homes for them, but they won't be MMOs.

I don't forsee any MMOs in my future, unless it can grab me like this game did. I didn't like MMOs.....I liked CITY OF HEROES. Reading an issue of Game Informer (mainly for Final Fantasy X), I saw an article about the game when it was in development. Something speaks volumes about a game that snags you in when it hasn't even been released. Now, I didn't start the game at launch as I was in Basic Training the day it did, but when I got my first PC (and later upgraded to a true gaming PC built from scratch) I subbed to the game and never left. Sure, some console games pulled me away for a bit, but not once did I ever unsub from the game.

The thing I'll miss most, are the players. No matter how famous or infamous they were. (Hey, our three biggest trolls were good for laughs, and I'm sure most of you remember who they were) I don't think I'll come across another community like this one for a long time.

If I never see any of you again, it was a pleasure. But I do hope to cross paths with you all again, wherever we all end up.

    The Last Day

I really don't get the desire for apocalyptic endings.....

I'd like the game to end on the line of say......Justice League Unlimited. instead of Darkseid, Tyrant was our last big threat.

And after that threat is crushed, the heroes venture on, even if it isn't in this game anymore.

If all your characters were deleted, your veteran status, everything (even forum posts), and you had to start from scratch, would you still continue to play this game, or would it be too much of a setback?
I would probably not play. Not because I don't want to do it again, but these days, I don't have the free time that I did when I started the game in 2006.

Ooh, I'm doing something like this. (Well mainly I got the inspiration from Zero Hour, as the DC heroes faced something similar. At least their universe got to live on....)

Anyways, perhaps there IS something on the other side. (The RL metaphors being whether you carry the lives of your characters on in other MMOs, console games, tabletop, et al)

The White Lantern Oath could likely be one word "LIVE!" as that was the main word spoken by the white rings that restored certain people to life and was spoken by the ring Deadman wore when it revived things.

However given what is coming soon in the GL books, we may yet again see the white ring in action as part of a plan to stop the insane Guardians.

Not that I am aware of.

Well there is a reason the GTA games sell the way they do....

Going that route, CoV then would have had to have an M rating, even with the toned down violence. (according to some)

That's not to say that if that's the most prominent thing you've got going on in your life that you wouldn't regret not sampling more of what life offers when you are at a point where you're no longer able to.

  19. Nope, not the ones in DC or Marvel. I mean heroes created in countries outside of the U.S.

Super Heroes are usually seen as a mostly American thing, but I have have always wondered what super heroes were created in other countries. (Other than Japan, though I am aware that they have some characters that I have yet to discover.)

I came across this link for those who are curious:

    http://www.internationalhero.co.uk/

Also included are american creations, but these characters are lesser known, if at all.

I kinda expected the Luchadores of Central America to be on the site. I wasn't disappointed.

Anyone else heard of any of these characters?

I normally pay no attention to rubbish or nonconstructive thinking but this just rubbed me the wrong way.....

Anyone who support this Batman junk is illogical and offensive to a rational mind.

BATMAN IS A RUNT, written by and for morons !!!

What was the question again O.o ?
Superman is the embodiment that all superhumans aspire to.

Batman represents everything non-superhumans could ever hope to be.

I never did like the "he's just human" or "just a man" arguments against Batman. Unless he's given Superman's powers to even the playing field (and it has happened before), Batman knows that he won't be able to beat Superman-level foes in a straight fight. So he cheats. Whatever it takes to win. Mortals do it all the time in fantasy, be it against gods, dragons, demons, abominations, et al.

Now if your only power is to shoot fire or ice (and Batman has some foes that can do either one), and you have no special invulnerability or resistance to damage? Expect a punch from someone who trained in multiple martial arts to hurt. A lot.

But in the end my reasoning won't apply. "Superpowered heroes should never be taken down by non-supers even if they've trained for 1,000 years"* is the ending I usually hear from the other side. Even if your only power is to change the color of your skin, you get an automatic win.

*non-supers know the ones they can take on, and the ones they should avoid from their training. Most super-powered heroes are just content with their powers and don't undergo additional training, or don't feel the need to, which makes me like the superpowered heroes less. There are exceptions, like the Green Lantern Corps, and teams led by Cyclops and Captain America. (Cyclops and Cap don't let teammates just get by with their powers, and have them undergo combat training. None of them have ever regretted it.)
