Lantern Draft

The GF recently came across the following image via Facebook recently:

Now this was done back in 2010 during the height of "Blackest Night". And to be honest, I like it, for the most part.
Just to list who's who:

Red/Hate = Guts
Orange/Avarice = Gollum
Yellow/Fear = Darth Vader
Green/Willpower = Link
Blue/Hope = Superman
Indigo/Compassion = Kenshin
Violet/Love = Jessica Rabbit
(above copied directly off of his DA page description)

Just off hand, I can agree with nearly every choice, except Supes as a Blue Lantern. I guess it's a personal thing, but the artist gives a reasoning on his website.

Just something interesting I thought I'd share.

Thank you for the time...

i diiiiig. and i like the choice of supes as hope.

Wasn't Superman a Blue Lantern briefly in the comics? If I drew something like this I probably would've picked him for a Blue Lantern as well.

Nope the flash was the blue lantern, supes was a black then a white lantern for end of darkest night.

Awww, I thought we were gonna have an actual draft.

Well, that IS the point of a discussion. Who would you draft?

Nah, I meant with turns, and brackets, and waiting and checking all day long in hopes that someone would miss their 24 hour window to post their pick so your pick didn't get stolen.

My picks for an all-TRANSFORMER Lantern Corps draft...

Green: Optimus Prime (duh!)
Yellow: Megatron (also duh)
Blue: Hmm... think I'd have to go with either Hot Rod or maybe Bumblebee
Red: I'm gonna pick Grimlock. Yes, he's a good guy, but c'mon!
Orange: Starscream
Indigo: Given what we've learned about the Indigo Tribe recently, I'll need to think on this more. Maybe Dreadwing.
Violet: Have to give this one to Elita-1... maaaaaaybe Arcee.

Black: Unicron and the Dark Energon zombie-Terrorcons from TF: Prime!

Here's a few that I have of random lantern drafts

Always fun to see which character from what different universe would get what lantern ring. The only one that I get irked by is the Hulk. Majority of people feel that the Hulk should always get the Red Lantern ring, and to this I say no. Mostly because I feel he doesn't really fit the requirement. When the Red Lanterns were introduced Atrocitus stated that the rage required to earn a Red Lantern ring, is the rage someone feels when they are powerless to stop an injustice inflicted on them. The Hulk is not powerless when someone makes the foolish mistake of inflicting an injustice on him. For me the Hulk would be a welcome member to the Sinestro Corps. A chunk of the Marvel universe fears and avoids the Hulk. You had the Illumanti send the Hulk off into deep space, Dr. Strange banished him into another dimension, and the Hulk even managed to scare a demon out of his mind when it saw the monster that was locked up in Banner's mind. Everything that was done to get rid of the Hulk was done out of fear.

I think this calls for an actual draft game like in the old days. Someone moderate it, have people join in and suggest one char per color, then duke it out. One with most votes wins and off to next round.

So, whoever has that kind of inclination, set it up.

While your argument for Fear is apt, as I understand it the Hulk's rage is rooted in the powerlessness of a child who was helpless against the actions of an abusive father.

What's the new thing we've learned about the Indigo Tribe? I don't read comics.

Okay, SPOILERS!!! for those who haven't read the most recent arc in Green Lantern:

The Indigo Tribe are all actually made up of some of the worst criminals and psychopaths in the universe. Abin Sur discovered the indigo light of compassion and used it to force them to experience and understand the emotions of others. Whether this was an attempt to reform them or not isn't entirely clear, but Indigo-1 was responsible for the death of Abin's family...

But... the Atom was an Indigo for a while...

Yeah... I figure he was ACTUALLY compassionate, rather than having it forced on him.

The real reason why a Red Lantern ring doesn't fit for Hulk is because his fingers are too large.

You're welcome.

And I disagree, the Hulk personality is a direct manifestation of the powerlessness that Banner felt as a child, as another poster mentioned. Supposedly this is how gamma mutations work in the Marvel Universe; Samuel Sterns wasn't very bright, and thus became a genius, while Jennifer Walters was mousy and very meek and thus because a bombshell with a strong personality.

And Thunderbolt Ross was a major jerk and became a Red Villain Sue major jerk. Gamma radiation kinda struck out there.

I disregard Red Hulk entirely since I had stopped reading comics a few years before that nonsense.
