I found a bug that let a lvl 1 be lvl 49 in PI without a team.

Basically, invite the lvl 1 while you are on a 50. Get them into a mission in PI. Quit out of the game, at the 3 second mark on your 60 second quit out of game timer, the lvl 1 should exit the mission. The level one will then be level 49 in PI until they die or zone somewhere else, or actually level.

Still didn't get bug hunter.... grumble

Although, probably lots of people knew about this bug, but many people on justice did not so I had hopes.

Also, how are you supposed to get that badge??? I've sent in more bug reports than I can count.

But I'm not going to put my faith in information that's coming second hand about vague negotiations that may or may not have anything to do with saving the game, let alone with no word on how they're going and if they'll turn out to be fruitful or not.

Especially since, given the track record, NCSoft would rather let their IP rot than let someone else at it.

There's also the fact that the game shutting down is inevitable. It was getting long in the tooth. Given my druthers, I'd rather CoH end on a semi-high point with some dignity than be driven into the ground or have it bleed dry. Honestly if the choice was down to getting this game a reprieve of a few years just for it to be shut down again or clearing the decks to allow a proper successor, spiritual or otherwise, I'd be leaning towards the latter option.

So to me, it really depends on what they're negotiating for and why. Do they plan to just leave the servers on and prop the game up 'Weekend at Bernie's' style? That would be a horrible fate for the game IMO. Some may want to return to the status quo, no matter how fleeting. That's just not sensible. We need to think long term.

Johnny, I've backed you on a lot of stuff. Now I'm going to advise you as a fellow tank.

As a tank, nothing has every stopped you from running into a mob, holding a team of unlikely heroes together, or pulling that one last victory out when the fit hits the shan. As a tank, you never say to your team "I don't think we can do this." As a tank, you do not stop, you do not lay down, and you do not die. You continue on because that is what's right. As a tank you are looked up to as inspiration, as hope, and as that bit of childlike wonder we all lose at some point or another. And finally, as a tank, you know there are times where you don't voice your opinion, you simply roll up your sleeves and get back to work doing whatever will help the team succeed in whatever endeavor is being attempted.

This is one of those times, figure out how to help the team, aggro more (more letters and capes and masks), give words of encouragement (your posts on the board), or invite more to the team (bang the doors on news sites). But do not forget that you are a tank and you are not allowed to fall into a state of doom, gloom, or giving up. You have to be a leader and you have to be an example. You have to be the one that when you join the team for the battle it echoes across chat from teammates, "It's ok, we got a tank."
  5. Some of you will be handing in your geek card.

Your penance is to watch Animal House five times.

Then your geek cards will be returned.

    You know who you are.
  6. Oh... thought this thread was about me. Nevermind, carry on.
  7. What? Over? Did you say "over"? Nothing is over until we decide it is! Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor? No!

Completely off-topic but how awesome was Groucho Marx. My son and I sat down to watch Duck Soup on netflix the other day as I wanted to expand on his comedic experiences and we just laughed and laughed. I'd seen it before, but Groucho's timing was impeccable.

I did a minor (of sorts) in Criminology while studying Business Administration. I actually did the major paper of that branch of study on cyber security.
I'm not sure you would want my paper as its not exactly about cyber security or how to be secure. My thesis was to support the idea that a digital Hague convention is needed to constrain cyber warfare.

I will point you at this paper though, as it was very helpful in nailing down some of the finer points in my paper.

Schjolberg, Stein. (March 2012). A Paper for the EastWest Institute (EWI) Cybercrime Legal Working Group. Retrieved from http://www.cybercrimelaw.net/documents/ICTC.pdf

Judge Schjolberg is a better wordsmith than I am.

(also, I don't think my paper was very good, seeing as I got an 89 on it, but my professor said the research on it was wonderful.)

This is the most awesome quote I've ever seen. It used to be one of your other quotes, but this one bumps that one down a slot.
  19. Tell me about it, field is way wide open, like my own personal minecraft server. Not even sure where to start. I think I should take a few days, soak all this up, set up a linkedin, then start on obtaining my CEH.

  21. Thanks guys, I am just so giddy right now the words fail me.
  22. Dear NCSoft,

Your nefarious plan to keep me from graduating by announcing the closure of my favorite game ever and throwing me into a spiraling pit of depression the week of finals has failed. I aced the presentation portion of my thesis which has given me enough points on my grade that even if the paper portion gets a 0 I will still pass and earn my B.S. in C.J./C.S. You can reinstitute City of Heroes now as you must know I can not be defeated by any of your meticulously evil plans.

I am a hero, this is what I do.

  24. Glad to see you guys got a Mac port that is as simple as the windows port without having the mac user have to do any major modifications.

(As linux user, if we are running coh, we probably already have the modifications we need to run the windows exe)
