Is there an ETA on a fix for the forum bug?
I can't seem to find the post now, but Zwillinger made a response to another poster on this topic that the 'forum bug' was fixed.
Now, admittedly, I haven't had the forum log me out without reason in some time, but it definitely does not remember me regardless of the state of the remember me check box when I log in.

The cookie has a max time limit of eight hours, and is set to timeout/delete itself after you close the browser. This means that "Remember Me" is pretty much useless. This is apparently working as intended.

So, anyone found a hack around via some FF addon or something?

As Aggelakis stated, the cookie is set to expire after 8 hours.
This decision was made by the NCsoft web security admins.

Well that's...dumb. And different from all the other sites that I can think of that I use that have a remember box of some sort....

Just leave the browser that you logged in with open and wa-la, no issues

Now if the forums would not require me to log out manually after manually marking a forum read to mark threads read. I also have threads that won't mark as read while browsing when I use tabs.

There's probably a mod that can alter the life of the forum cookie from "8" hours to "65535" hours or some such, whatever the maximum of the variable used can handle.

As its not killing my posts as I try to post them nearly as often, my drive to fix the problem client-side is not as high as it was. If it starts acting up again rather than spend enormous amounts of time doing their work for them to find a solution, I'll just do what the web team does: I will take the path of least resistance. For me, anyway.

I'm somewhat confused... I've been seeing a lot of talk about this "bug" (the forums being set to logging you out after 8 hours), but...
No one is talking about the "Go to first new post" option still being a pain, after all this time.
It seems like it is a problem that comes from signing into the forums from different computers, but A) that doesn't mean it should be acting that way... I've always been able to properly use that feature in other forums from multiple machines and B) is this not still an issue others are experiencing?
I don't mind having to log in (what is wrong with you people??) , but having to scroll through posts, and sometimes pages, to get to replies I have not yet read has been annoying since circa 1876.

Have you tried to both manually mark forums read and then log out when done to see if that fixes the issue, Electric Knight?

The first time you connected Windows should have picked up that this is a login page and offer to remember password. If you said Yes to that then just clicking in the password box should fill in the credentials.
Note this is a function of Windows NOT your browser and so the credentials are stored in the registry rather than the cookie that IE/Chrome/FF use. I think whether this is enabled may be dependent on your Windows security settings, some security suites may disable it as well.
If you said NO to that prompt you will need to hunt out a registry hack to clear the entry.
You may also have clicked YES to the "Do not remember any more passwords" prompt.

There's also Windows password manager which may be why some people think its being saved.

Are you talking about clicking the little triangle next to each thread title, to take you to the first post since your last time online? If so, works perfectly for me.
And I routinely log in from two different computers. |
And, huh... Well, good. I did not know that this was fixed for people (there was a time when it seemed to be affecting all users [at least those logging in from different places/machines]).
I have not! I'll try that and let you know! Thanks!

I use LastPass as my online passwords manager, and it has an option to automatically log you in on selected sites. I use it to auto-login here on the forums.

The one where you have to relog in every time and the remember checkbox does nothing? It happens to me on 4 different computers.
There used to be some threads about it, but I haven't seen any in a while. That or I don't know where to look, I'll admit I still get a little confused by the new layout (Get off my lawn!).
