Tell us about your forum handle!
Before i joined this game, my handle/favourite alias to use was always blue lightning. However it was obviously taken when i joined so had to think of something different.
Originally i planned on having it as just @damien, but again that was taken [in all my time ingame i am YET to see someone with that global/name] so i made a character of my real life nickname [damz] and that nickname has now stuck with me as both my global and how everybody ingame knows me. Now 90% of my characters have the name Damz in their name now.
@Damz Find me on the global channel Union Chat. One of the best "chat channels" ingame!
I've been using DarkGob for almost 12 years now since my days on AOL (my AIM info gives me an account creation date of October 24th, 1997). I use it pretty much everywhere, although unfortunately there are a few outlier DarkGobs out there who are giving me a bad name...
Trivia: Eventually my parents canceled the AOL account DarkGob was attached to, I think about 6 years ago. Or they tried. They just refused to let us go. Eventually they stopped paying, but AOL kept giving us "a free month, just in case you change your mind". Eventually my dad outright canceled the credit card he had been using for the account, and that finally gave those losers the hint. The account was canceled, but I briefly lost access to my screenname, only to accidentally discover I had access again about a year later.
It's been a long, crazy ride...

Well, first toon. Inv/SS tanker.
Looking for a name that evoked the idea of a really powerful punch.
Several others were already taken. Hyperstrike wasn't (though the original had been).
It was the name of my first Tank to get past L14, and my Main on Virtue for a while.
Mine is what my mom called me when I was little - and still calls me - sometimes
It's also the name I use for my in-game avatar.

Mine is derived from a Diablo II Mod, Zy-El Trial by Fire. The creator Kato, had a toon named Zyel. I liked the name but changed it to Zyal and have many of my toons in game named Zyal <something>.
I have gone to find myself. If I get back before I return, Keep me here!
I wanted to have a toon that was loosely based around a Spawn-type of hero (or anti-hero), so I came up with Hellsminion, my broadsword/super reflexes character. He was also my first 50. That's the name I've stuck with ever since, although some of my alt character names have become known as well (creydiation & Pew Pew Thwomp). I still prefer going with Hells
"Angryellow" is actually my general internet handle. There is no toon on my roster named Angryellow. I made it up to describe how I see myself. I am angry most of the time because of my life in general, and I am a light-skinned black man. Thus, Angry-Yellow. i just omitted the second Y to be cool.
Nethergoat is my main villain.
I only use it here, have had it for a few years now.

Mine is mostly a joke from when me and a friend of mine were thinking up ridiculous action hero names.
It's a pun on "Magnum", only made out to be "McNum, Scottish Action Hero!" (Said in the most ridiculosly offensive Scottish accent.) I never actually used it on a character here, even with the kilt available. The name just stuck in my head and I wanted to retire an old handle since it was always taken. Turns out, McNum is almost always free, and it's a five letter handle.
Interestingly, all my CoH friends call me "Rose". After the FF/Energy Defender in my signature. I've gotten used to it, but it's still funny to be called "Rose" when you're male. Not that I want them to stop calling me that or anything.
About seeing me elsewhere? Yeah, if you see a McNum, it's likely me. GameFAQs, NeoGAF, various other game-related forums. It's me. Or if it isn't, then try McNum13, then it's me. 13 is my lucky number, so I'll add that if McNum is taken.
I just realized that I've been using a pun for a handle for over a decade now... Awesome!

I saw a drawing of a spitting trashcan once, and it appealed to me. I use it as my handle wherever I go, because it's almost never claimed.

Mine's boring: I got it from my parents.
I'd already used my nom du ludiciel[1] for my main account and since NCSoft used to require that we used a different name for the forum account, I ended up using my real name for the forum handle. If I remember correctly, it means "Descendant warrior" or something to that effect.
[1] Or is it de ludiciel? French confounds me.

This was the first board I used Friggin' Taser on, but I've since carried it over to Twitter and some other websites.
The name was actually an accident. My first character in City of Heroes was Plot Device, a name I use to post under on other forums (mainly Television Without Pity). I made him a tanker during the pre-order headstart and didn't dig it right away. So I went to reroll him as an elec/elec blaster but forgot to delete the original first. So I'm at the naming screen with a fully made character I didn't want a delete. Earlier that day I was taken up on a dare to play the horrible Austin Powers games for Game Boy Color, which honestly features the phrase "Frickin' Lasers" during every piece of Dr Evil dialogue.
I changed it slightly and that's how the name came to be.
Since then, my original character, Plot Device, was rerolled 47 times as hero into every AT and almost all powersets. It became a running joke that he'd never hit 50. Then I got a list of powersets that would be featured in City of Villains just before closed beta and picked Rad/Thermal Corrupting as my new set for him. Even in closed beta I never looked back and he hit 50 slightly after issue 7 hit.

Eldritch_Knight comes from two different sources. The first is, of course, D&D 3.5, from the Prestige Class, the second is the Giantitp Forums, where that's been my handle since I joined up over there. It was also an Energy/Energy Blaster I had on Guardian, which has since vanished into obscurity. I'll probably remake him come I16.

Aggelakis is the last name of my main hero, who existed before I learned of CoX in various roleplaying games, online and offline.
I use "kellzilla" on my second account, which is a play on a nickname (Kelly) and Godzilla, who is my first and last cheesy movie love. I also additionally use "Der Zilla", even though it doesn't match my gender (should be "Die Zilla", but when I first started using that people always asked why I wanted Godzilla to die, instead of being "The Zilla" in the feminine form). I didn't use it on my forum account because they didn't allow spaces, so stuck with "kellzilla".
edit: I've been going by "kellzilla" since 1997.

Dollhouse wasn't my first CoH character, but she was my first 50...an old-school firetank, as it happens (odd, since I'm known as a bit of a Defender specialist). Seldom played any more, but I've rebuilt her a couple times, post-nerfs, and I still enjoy getting her out now and then.
I thought about changing the name after that damn TV show came out...but never got around to it.
"And in this moment, I will not run.
It is my place to stand.

Mine's from my first character, back in I3, SS/Fire tank. (Not the first 50 - that's where the global for one account came from, since it's who I was playing when globals came out.)
The name itself? Well, the *character* was the closest I could come to a character I was playing in Silver Age Sentinels - had to be SS, so it had to be a tank, and we didn't have Dark armor for Tanks at the time (which really fits better... and which was created when it did come out.) Didn't want to use the name I had for the PnP character (nicknamed 'spitball,' not that anyone would want to be on the receiving end of one - he demolished a bunker with one.)
Trying to think of an interesting name, I looked around, glanced at my movie collection, saw "Memphis Belle" and decided to go with Memphis Bill. Seemed like it would hint at a backstory.
Leogunner is a twist on my middle name. The way it's pronounced and spelled is dumb and weird. I could just as easily went with Leo-Gun (which I do sometimes use on other boards) but I try to mix it around.
I changed it to Leo_G on a whim because it's shorter, reminds me of Zero G which sounds cool, and it has this face in it:
o_G
Isn't that funny? o_G
It's like, if someone was sitting next to you and let out a loud stinky fart and you know it was them but they try to blame it on someone else, you give them le 'o_G' look. Add colons for stress o_G;;
Nihilii - my scrapper, a nihilistic young woman.
Obscure Blade is the name of my first CoX character, and my in-game global. A Broadsword/Regen scrapper on Guardian; the blade part refers to Broadsword, and Obscure because I was brand new to the game. When I signed up to the boards I made it Obscure Guy; but about the time the forum move was announced decided that Obscure Blade just sounded better.
Arc #40529 : The Furies of the Earth
Mine is nothing great. I use Wyattearp here and on a car forums site. I use because it is hardly taken and plus I am related to Wyatt Earp.
I use to have a character named Marshall Wyatt Earp in the game but i messed up on him so I made a new one and kept the name. So I am working on him now, Blaster/Devices. Wish he could dual wield pistols like the Thug MM but I guess an assault rifle will do lol.
Blood Spectre comes from a Forgotten Realms 3.5 D&D campaign I was running years ago, just before CoV came out.
My running nemesis for the game was this entity that I called The Red Shade, which was something of a collective unconsciousnous made sentient and hostile. In short, it was like the left over fear from thousands of years of people living and dying, made somehow sentient, and driven to spread fear murder and suffering. It manifested itself as a shadow that dripped with blood, and it's goal was to spread it's influence into the mind of every living thing. Toward this end it would bleed into an evil creature's mind and invest them with a portion of it's own nearly endless power. These servants were kept alive in an undead state by the transformation, and were The Red Shade's primary means of furthering it's dark goals. And of course, they were called, Blood Spectres. So that's where my name comes from.

The vast majority of my characters are named after the days of the week.
If you see a character on Union whose name contains a day of the week, there is a reasonable chance that it will be me.
Oh, and my second account is called 'Nights'
...I don't have a great imagination when it comes to names. Obviously.
Like most of you reading this I have a forum handle. I've had this same handle since I joined way back when. Like some of you, I've seen other posters handles and thought, "Hmmm, I wonder where he/she/it came up with that clever name?"
So, here's your chance!
Tell us about your forum handle!
Where did you come up with it?
Have you always used the same one?
How about on different boards?

Me?
I bought CoV way back when and after a few failed characters and different servers I settled on Freedom and my main Clouded Electron (a Elec/Dark Brute). My current global at the time was Lord Thalium. I decided to change my global since I found it terribad (terrible + bad). My first request was Clouded Electron which was not available so I abbreviated it and came up with Clouded. After a few months of running around I stumbled onto the forums and registered right away with the handle of Clouded.
Not the most exciting story but a story none-the-less! I use "Clouded" at nearly every forum or community site I join (Co, SW: TOR, etc).
So, tell us about your forum handle!
