Stone Armor - Granite Armor

I vote for a change to Granite as I am tired of looking like the Boulders from the DE.

I vote for the change.

I love the new I16 power customization options. Perhaps you can have one granite option that resembles the current granite look, not necessarily identical, but close.

If you can do that, then maybe you can have an option for the old 'poo-man' look too.

As long as it doesn't look like an opaque version of ice armor I'm all for it!

I like the current Granite Armor, I definitely couldn't live without it on my SS/Stone Brute.

i dont care about granite changing myself...the only thing is its a big look and deserves to keep a big look.

if you change it hopefullly its stays big..cause isnt that the idea behind the power?

Oh god yes. I want my smaller footprint model. My Tank-type toons are all small for a reason, dangit.

Mini-Granite sounds deliciously cute as well. And one of my SA characters has horns, too... Heh. Assuming, of course, the 'whole body coverage' theme remains. I'd be a tad miffed to toggle Granite and get just random chunks of rock stuck on my toon, a la Rock/Brim...rest of the set.

I'd be happy with a change as long as it looked cool But it's hard to say whether that's the case - until or unless we see the options.

I've never been a fan of the rock armour or brimstone armour as they always seemed over-lumpy in some places (I haven't seen any i16 images if they have changed...?)

One thing I WOULDN'T miss if we lost the current granite armour form is the feeling of "scraping my head along the ceiling" all the time in cave maps.

Is there a possibilty of having a choice of two or three looks (themes?) in progressively more stone coverage? If anyone wants to look (nearly) as they did before they could select the "covered in stone" option (but on the character's normal model) and use the science pack to morph to a huge model costume... though come to think of it that would be a bit clumsy unless there was some way to automatically select that when you changed costume.

Agreed, for the most part.

The problem for me is that I really really want the Crystal Theme to be applicable to granite. It fits a concept that I have created on test.

Do it!
I never liked how everyone looks the same in granite

IE, your player model and costume wouldn't go away, there would just be a new set of 'Granite' armor pieces overlaid.

I haven't made any decision to do this, it's just one of the options for dealing with the multiple issues we have with Granite Armor and I wanted to get a sense of how many of you guys wouldn't be able to adapt to a change like this.

Before anyone asks, no...we couldn't have it both ways.
I'm torn. My /stone brute really enjoys the height change aspect of the current granite armor. I've set him up for Min legs and min height on his sliders "Who are you calling short?" *pops Granite* RAWR!

Of course, with the science booster, there is a bit more lenience towards this aspect.

One thing I'm concerned with is the justification of the penalties of granite. It was pretty easy to see that this hulking golem wouldn't move very fast or jump.

Another thought: could we have it both ways? Hear me out: do your new rock pieces for granite. Then, have whomever create a temporary power similar to the halloween costume change stuff and have this power unlock as an inherit when granite is selected (similar to Khelds forms). Now, I would have the costume cost 0 endurance and have no other effects, aside from changing your character model. Would this be prohibitive?

Frankly, and in my opinion...

Granite is the only power in Stone Armor that *looks good*.

Why? Because the other powers have gfx that are asymmetric and don't actually look at all protective.

So if Granite were to be changed to look more like the other stone armors, it would look horrible.

Ideally, I like the idea of each armor toggle adding "pieces" of *symmetric* protective plating, and when you hit Granite, it finishes the look and adds bulk.

The current Stone Armors, with their randomly placed lumps of dirt and crystal, do not look good.

I like Granite Armor the way it is.

Unless you can replicate the same "indestructible" feeling with just another overlay however...

Can't say. Would have to see it :P

I deffinately would like the overlay a lot more. I honestly never liked being a DE creature :P

I'm really on the fence with this one. While I'd love to be able to customize Granite on my stone tank so I don't look like everyone else, I specifically made my character tiny to take advantage of the sudden jump in height, and hulkingly intimidating appearance when Granite was popped. Granite as it stands now looks as sturdy as the name should imply, and I'm hesitant to want to say yes to a change, unless the new version looks equally as strong...

I think I'll go with what others have said, and say I'd want to see some concept art or something before I'd sign off on the idea.

For the changes to Stone armor as a whole - that Castle had mentioned in another thread - as said above, take your time and do it right the first time. As much as I love Granite armor for its near indestructibility, it's a crutch that has to be taken, unless you don't mind getting yelled at or kicked off teams for not taking/using it...

A change sounds good to me. The old rock and lava armors were changed, I'm not sure why granite was left alone. It should definitely cover more to go with the slow speed and huge resists. The clipping is going to be nuts but encasing a 6" thick arm in a foot and a half of rock and expecting movement is pretty nuts already. Reality is going to have to take a back seat until you can dynamically morph the armor with our movements.

I'm not a terribly big fan of the whole 'granite' thing, either. We've already got rock armor. What's it made of? Sandstone? Granite isn't exactly the strongest stuff I've ever heard of. Iron armor maybe?

Change the Granite Armor model? Go for it!

I'm not 'that' attached to that thing, I wouldn't mind seeing it slightly evolve.

I'm all for this change. I'll never play anything stone related as long as it looks so ugly. Now finally with i16 i can consider earth control, if only stone armor could become something visually appealing, it would be perfect. I don't even understand why it was made so bad-looking in the first place. If it was not for the fact of being overpowered in granite i think very few players would ever play Stone armor if it was, let's say, as weak as Energy Aura or something like that.

That'd cause me to delete my 50-for-several-years stone/fire, I ran up through all the hideous lack of power to 32 FOR Granite Armor's look, so here's a vote no.

You just called up a very bad memory from the old days of cartoons when Hanna Barbera and other animation companies thought that things like this were cool.........

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=64Jv8zbUsf4

However the transformation in that cartoon is pretty much: rocks from the ground/everywhere to cover the character.

I vote yes for the changes to Granite, I'm tired of looking like a renegade member of the Devouring Earth, tired of all Stone players looking the same in granite, and really won't miss the size change part of it since I have Booster Pack 3 and can easily regain size change if I wanted.

Of course, on the other hand, I kinda want you guys to try to find a better solution, if only for Kheldians' sakes.
As much as I'd like to color change Kheld forms and powers, if the Lore of the game states that PB are "light" and WS are "Dark" then so be it.

I'm slightly conflicted. While I do wish for an updated Granite Armor, I would like to see some concept art before we get down to brass tacks.

It's better to stay with the devil you know than welcome the devil you don't know. I like the feel of morphing into a Rock Monster, but if we get on good terms with some pics of the new idea, then maybe we can evolve a little less painfully.
