The same "floating away from the body" thing happens with the animated tails, particularly on female characters with low physique sliders; ie. anything less than the default 'Middle' position.
  2. What's wrong with Hero System?

Granted, I'm more fond of Mutants and Masterminds 2e these days, but Hero System's still pretty good.
  3. You heard it here, folks! Soup Control, coming soon to an archetype near you!

  4. It's a fix to several self-rez powers, making them actually useful. Instead of just rezzing and then dying again because you didn't run away fast enough before you dropped, you can now rez and stay up long enough to get some toggles on and some healing done.

While I can understand Taunt being useful, I do have a problem with it; It does not *do damage*. Dwarf Form's "attack chain" then is damage, damage, damage, use taunt because there's all the damaging attacks are recharging, damage, pause because everything's on cooldown, damage.

That's not a complete attack chain. That's using an aggro management tool because *there's nothing else to do*.
  6. Oooh, I have one:

What won't fix Khelds is a special type of enhancement, let's call it an Archetypal Origin Enhancement, whose special proc is to boost Human Form resistance, Nova Form damage, and Dwarf Form health.

Those three things, each enhancing what the form is already good at, will not actually change or improve the playstyle at all, because the weakness of Nova form is the incomplete attack chain and minimal health and defense, the weakness of Dwarf is the incomplete attack chain AND insufficient damage, and the weakness of Human form is the insufficient damage and fragmentary melee attack chain.

And all of them suffer from scaling problems; One example is that the Human Form ranged attacks are tier 1, 2, and 3, and do not do a whole lot of damage at higher levels.
  7. I did NOT ask for people to post builds without the Fighting pool. Someone got a wild idea in their head that I did, and posted one unasked. Please do not misrepresent my words.
  8. Let's not forget to make Telepathists 95% resistant to damage, and give them 45% defense. Oh, and throw in an unresistable PBAOE on defeat with a radius of 500 meters, a couple thousand damage, and a target cap of 96.
  9. New Bug:

The Inspiration Window randomly closes (if docked to the action bar) or "wanders" to the center of the screen (If not docked to the action bar) on changing zones, entering missions, etc.

When the file was updated to save window opacity, it's clear to me that SOMEONE forgot to make sure it also *kept saving* all window positions. This might be because the "read" function for the file assumes a certain file size and structure, or it might be that someone forgot to update the memory references to take into account the new data, and the wrong bits are being read.
  10. Quantum Acceleration DOES affect combat flight. You don't see the effect because it's difficult to cap combat flight's speed.

It's easy to cap flight speed, it's easy to go OVER the cap with a single Flight IO. When you turn on QA, the cap rises, and Flight now provides the speed that was suppressed.

It's not so easy to cap combat flight speed. It's nearly always under the cap. When QA is activated, the cap is raised, but the actual speed doesn't change because there's no part of combat flight speed that was suppressed.

We're zeroing in on a theory here, and I guess it's this: when you get a whole TEAM of brightly-colored folks on screen, it starts to strain credulity for the mainstream movie audience. So one hero: okay. But a group of differently-colored super characters tends to get into rainbow territory and remind people of the Voltron force or other traditionally kid-friendly material.

That alone may not turn off a mainstream audience, but combine that with a weak or silly story and it breaks the willing suspension of disbelief. I think that's more or less what going on with the average movie-goer right now. Interesting, the longer they're exposed to the bright colors, the less it'll probably bother them, and eventually, we'll probably be able to have parity between the comics and films without fear of alienating the audience.
A lot of brightly colored costumes aren't that much of a problem. A lot of people in brightly colored costumes, moving, on screen, in an action sequence, is.

Viewers suffer from attention fatigue. They don't know what to look at, where the flow of the action is. Couple that with Hollywood's facination with fast shots, rapid changes of camera angle, and cgi special effects, and its easy to overload your viewer to the point that they'd rather do anything other than watch the movie.

This is also a problem with MMORPGs, this one included. The more effects, the more graphics, the more flashy stuff that's happening, the worse the effect is. If you could do a study of MMORPG players faced with team and multi-team raids, you'd most likely notice that most of them focus on the static elements of the user interface rather than the "action" that's happening on screen.
  12. That's very interesting.

Also entirely unnecessary. I was not asking for a build without the fighting pool.

The entire point of the thread was that I felt it wasn't possible to cap S/L defense on a human-only build. The very first reply to the thread showed me that I was mistaken, by pointing out a blind spot in my thinking.
  13. I can see how someone with no sense of time or history, or a plain inability to look at dates of the posts, or an inability to read posts as they are written, could come to that conclusion.

However, I did not in my original post say "don't use the fighting pool." I laid out very clearly in my original post what "human only" meant to me.

The fact that I won't use these builds does not invalidate them, however. I challenged the claim that it was possible to build an S/L defense capped, permanent light form, human only build, and several people pointed out a blind spot in my thinking.
  14. Everyone has preferred ways of building a character. The way I prefer to build my human-only Peacebringers, did not include the use of the fighting pool as a carry for Kinetic Combat sets.

It still does not, as I don't consider the pool to be useful outside of being set IO carriers.

The claim was made that it was possible. I didnt' see how. Every build I've seen in this thread that was a true human-only build included the fighting pool.

The thread served its purpose long ago.
  15. A human-only form is just that; Human Only.

If a build has Dwarf form in it, it is a Dual-Form build.

If a build has Nova form in it, it is a Dual-Form build.

If a build has Nova and Dwarf forms in it, it is a Tri-Form build.

Saying that the "no form powers rule" is arbitrary for a Human Only build is to disregard the definition of Human Only. When I ask for a Human Only build, I'm not asking for a Dual-Form build that you play only in Human form.
  16. Why would I do that? I find some of the power choices to be... interesting, and the order of the powers taken to be questionable for exemplaring down, but from an initial read, at least the first build is not impractical.

Expensive as hell, but the powers are at least useful.
  17. I would like to see these human only builds that reach capped s/l defense with enough recharge to make Light Form permanent. The claim is that it is possible; I remain dubious.

Note, to qualify as human only, the build cannot be a dual-form or tri-form build. That means no White Dwarf, no Bright Nova.

    Perma Human PB

Define "viable." Or does "Viable" only mean "Exactly like mine" to you?

And I am curious as to how you're getting softcapped on a human-only build.
  19. Starcloud

    Perma Human PB

I have a human-form PB build; boosting Defense through set IOs is a fool's game on an AT where your defenses are primarily Resist-based.

Simply, if you're building for Defense, that's ALL you're building for. You can't build for Recharge or much else, because of the way the Defense bonuses are paired in IO sets.

Having some defense is good, but it's not nearly so easy to build for Defense as you might think.

I can see that you built for global damage, but Inner Light takes care of most of that already.

Yes, Essence Boost is perma when slotted with one recharge IO, BUT you should be using it for Doctored Wounds five slotted.

Gleaming bolt is best when it has procs slotted; I use Devastation four slotted including the proc, Touch of Lady Grey proc, and the Achilles Heel proc. Since I have it, I replaced the AH proc with the purple ranged damage proc IO.

Decimation works in Glinting Eye, but you want something better for Gleaming Blast.

You REALLY don't need Thermal Shield. And taking three of the status resist IOs is pretty ineffective. Even if you were to get to 100% resist, that would only cut the mez duration in half.

Dump Quantum Flight for Quantum Acceleration and put in an LotG recharge.

I forgot that I swapped a few things around when I could afford a few purples, but the actual slots remained the same in the original. Use Scirocco's Dervish instead of the purple pbaoe set. Copy the slotting of Glinting Eye into Gleaming Bolt. Then you can change Glinting Eye's IOs into something else.

    Code:
    | Copy & Paste this data into Mids' Hero Designer to view the build |

    Help a lvl 30 PB

    Yes and no.

Quantum Flight gives a cycling phasing effect, but it's expensive as hell endurance wise.

I'm not sure why Quantum Acceleration is at 1 end/sec. If it is, it probably shouldn't be if Afterburner is at .65 and has exactly the same benefits and drawbacks.

QA does break the flight speed cap, where Quantum Flight does not. QA is also a useful LotG set mule for the proc.
  21. You, ah, do know you can actually delete most temp powers, right?

    Without needing to use them?

    $2k beast

They're about the same in performance for 99.99% of all tasks you might do on your computer. In fact, I suspect the i-7 is going to be a touch faster and more heat-tolerant.

Where the AMD chip shines is when you have multiple virtual machines running, or when you have an application that can use more than two cores.
Hint: the vast majority of programs currently on the market for the forseeable future don't use more than two cores.

Quad-core processors are already more than most people need; the ability to offload different programs to different cores helps, somewhat, but one or two cores are most likely going to be unused or dedicated to background Windows tasks.

An Octo-core processor... it's just overkill unless you're doing scientific work with multi-threaded custom applications, or running a private server with virtual machine hosts.
  23. If you want just that little bit more recharge:

Dump Assault and Vengeance and take Stealth and Quantum Acceleration. That allows you to slot one additional LotG in Stealth.

Another tweak I'd do: In Stamina, put in the Performance Shifter chance for +End proc and the Performance Shifter Endmod.

I could see that. Suggested role tags as additions to the titles of the existing forums.

I could also see "roles" as headers, as long as each archetype forum can be found under ALL the roles that the archetype can perform (not just the suggested roles) and that none of the archetypes forums are merged together.

While it might look like Defenders and Corruptors are both basically the same Archetype, they play radically differently in practice and should NOT be merged together.

Forums should be easy to understand at a glance.
You mean, create subforums within each forum to clearly identify and separate the forum posts? Then we're back to where we started only with an additional layer of obstruction.

Or require the use of dropdown tag selection to identify posts, thereby creating more visual clutter and making the forums harder to read?

Or do you mean an "honor system" whereby people don't pay attention to the posted forum rules and fail to follow the organizing principles you laid out, because it's all optional, thus leaving it more of a cluttered mess than it currently, under your opinion, is?

I could see removing the top layer "Archetype" heading and having immediate access to the archetype forums.

Failing that, leave it alone, Z.
