Perma Human PB

My human-only Peacebringer has been stuck at level 35 for quite a while (read: about three years) because I never was sure what direction to go with its build. After reading a few threads here, it became clear to me that getting perma-Light Form was a much-desired goal.

This build is about three seconds away from perma-Hasten (without adding an Alpha slot), but still achieves perma-Essence Boost, Inner Light, and Light Form. Adding a T3 Spiritual boost makes Hasten perma, too, and without the use of purple or PVP IOs. Other nice things are double-stacked Photon Seekers and some decent mez resistance.

I'd appreciate any feedback regarding the viability of this build, as well as proper level picks for powers. (I was modifying an old build rather than starting from scratch, so some powers are likely picked a bit out-of-order.)

You did well building recharge for not using any purples, but you may want to rethink Dawn Strike. Unless you're using it as an emergency button only, you won't want to use it in combat because you need to keep your shield toggles up to cap your resistance (since light form isn't slotted to cap it on it's own).

Also, I'd try to work in some SL defense if I were you.

One of the reasons you're seeing Human only hyped up on the forum is that it allows you to retain the HP of Dwarf, exceed the AoE of Nova, and also build up high defense. Without building up any defense at all, you are missing out on one of the best parts of the build style.

Since it doesn't seem like you plan to break the bank on this, I would recommend not taking the human form shields and instead making a second Tri Form build for exemping below light form levels. You are overslotting and throwing away power choices that could instead be used to flesh out your defense and drastically improve level 50 performance.

I wouldn't waste slots on the Status Resistance IO, Perma LF provides constant protection and those things just aren't helpful. You might also want to consider 4 slotting LF with frankenslotted res/rech IO's.

I don't understand why you took (and slotted) both Bolt and Eye... I would drop Eye and once again focus the power choice on something that can help your defense.

You slotted Blast for KNOCKBACK, and it's your second best ST attack. That is going to hurt your DPS in too many ways... The first being no damage values for one of your best attacks, the second being that it is knocking things away from your melee powers.

Essence Boost is perma when 1 slotted with a recharge IO, and that's before spiritual alpha would be taken into account.

Thanks for the feedback. Some of my odd choices are because I haven't played my PB much in the last three years, so I'm still a bit fresh as to what options I have. I'll take another look at this and see what I can come up with.

I have a human-form PB build; boosting Defense through set IOs is a fool's game on an AT where your defenses are primarily Resist-based.

Simply, if you're building for Defense, that's ALL you're building for. You can't build for Recharge or much else, because of the way the Defense bonuses are paired in IO sets.

Having some defense is good, but it's not nearly so easy to build for Defense as you might think.

I can see that you built for global damage, but Inner Light takes care of most of that already.

Yes, Essence Boost is perma when slotted with one recharge IO, BUT you should be using it for Doctored Wounds five slotted.

Gleaming bolt is best when it has procs slotted; I use Devastation four slotted including the proc, Touch of Lady Grey proc, and the Achilles Heel proc. Since I have it, I replaced the AH proc with the purple ranged damage proc IO.

Decimation works in Glinting Eye, but you want something better for Gleaming Blast.

You REALLY don't need Thermal Shield. And taking three of the status resist IOs is pretty ineffective. Even if you were to get to 100% resist, that would only cut the mez duration in half.

Dump Quantum Flight for Quantum Acceleration and put in an LotG recharge.

I forgot that I swapped a few things around when I could afford a few purples, but the actual slots remained the same in the original. Use Scirocco's Dervish instead of the purple pbaoe set. Copy the slotting of Glinting Eye into Gleaming Bolt. Then you can change Glinting Eye's IOs into something else.

Uh... My PB build has 168% recharge- Perma Inner Light, light Form, Essence Boost, softcapped s/l defense, and superb enhancement values in all attacks. Maybe the problem lies more with your inability to build a viable character and not it being an poor build option.

And I am curious as to how you're getting softcapped on a human-only build.

Well in this specific case, "viable" means being able to do the things you were quoted on as saying you couldn't do. I have my human only soft capped to range rather than s/l, but I'm sure s/l wouldn't be any harder to do. My lightform isn't quite perma, but I'm also still missing 3 LotG on him.

I would like to preface my response here by saying that I MUCH PREFER MY NOVA/DWARF BUILD. I have a human form only build, it's a second build, and there are a lot of things you can do with it. However, I feel that if you are going to stay in human at all times, it's a good idea to run one or two leadership toggles to buff the team's effectiveness more, which is one thing you CAN'T do on a shapeshift build. That is the route I took.

I purposely didn't take the weak low level blast AoEs, instead only taking the two highest damage ones, Solar Flare and Spring Attack. Also, I will use Jump Kick over Glinting Eye any day of the weak, the two level 1 attacks PB's can take are embarassing, their DPA is so bad. You can dispute that with proc-slotting the powers all you want, but those attacks are bad bad bad bad bad, jump kick should never be better DPA than a primary power.

Yes I went Spiritual Alpha... it's da bomb, and as you guys were saying up there, if you build for defenses you don't really get as much recharge. Well I tended to build for defenses at least partially because defense sets are a lot cheaper than purples on a recharge build, and spiritual alpha helps get my recharges where they need to be.

No PvP IOs, No Purps, I don't have billions to waste.

Certainly doable. Mine has 153% recharge, 43% S/L Def, and perma Essence Boost, Inner Light, and Light Form as well. And with my two heals plus Incarnate Rebirth, I feel like a Regen character. My PB is harder to kill than any Scrapper or Brute I've played.

You're actually right that jump kick has higher base damage than bolt and eye but it also has a 2.8s recharge vs. 1.5s for gleaming bolt. I'm not positive but I don't think you would be able to work jump kick into a higher DPS attack chain than strike>bolt>blast.

As for Spring Attack, it has 70.9 base damage vs. 44.04 and 40.04 from detonation and scatter, but it's also recharging in 120s Vs. 12 and 16s. This means that even with lower damage values per attack, the primary AoE's will still do significantly more damage than Spring Attack.

I think I'm just used to always managing with less. Whether you LIKE to have more defense or more recharge, the fact of the matter is that the recharge route will cost you more inf. Not everyone sits and farms all day, my main source of income is constant lotg 7.5%s from 200 reward merits since I run TFs all the time. However, with how many new toons I make and how many each one needs, most of those actually get used by me rather than sold, so income only comes in from farming and I just don't really sit and farm anymore... it's soul crushing.

I make all of my cash on the market- I only farm when I need to get a character to the 1 billion mark before I can start flipping.

I've never 'farmed' as popularly thought of in this game (setting up specific AE missions, hanging on to 'Demon Farms', playing a FOTM farming toon). I just play normal content at +0/+8 and play the market maybe 5-10 minutes a session. I've slotted dozen of purples, along with any of uber special and unique IOs I want, in my toons.

You don't have to 'farm', but you do have to play your 50s alot and be willing to do the market thing.

Okay, here are two more versions. The first one is a much more expensive build with purples and some PVP IOs. It comes close to softcapping S/L defense, but uses Dwarf form which I wasn't planning to actually use during gameplay.

Okay, new version of a non-purple, non-PVP build. With the first Spiritual boost, hasten is just shy of perma by 3.3 seconds, and Light Form has a recharge of 83.09 seconds. That should still just be perma even with the downtime of hasten, as long as I'm paying attention, and would obviously be even better with higher Alpha slots.

Dwarf Form is used purely for set mules, as I have no intention of using it while playing.

S/L defense is at 46.6%, though my resistances aren't 100% maxed out.

You are wasting slots on i strike that should be going into gleaming bolt (which you should have taken instead of glinting eye.) r strike is your best ST attack and it's very underslotted. from the other thread:

Your slotting on e boost and reform is kinda backwards.. You can keep e boost perma when 1 slotted but you are going to want to get better enhancement values for reform as it is your primary self heal for issues like the LF crash.

Once again another person skipping proton scatter for pulsar which I think is a mistake. Scatter is a good aoe attack and can lead to a steady chain of AOE output whereas pulsar is a weak chance for stun that you have no means of stacking.

You also don't have detonation... Both of these aoe's I'm mentioning are pretty much the equivalent of nova blasts... They recharge so quickly that they probably contribute more aoe damage than seekers.

I recommend trying to fit -res procs into your attacks too.

How about this build, then?

I've swapped Eye for Bolt, reslotted R and I Strike, switched the slotting for E Boost and Reform, added Scatter and Detonation, and added -Res procs to two more attacks. I had to slightly sacrifice some S/L def and bump up the Alpha slot to keep everything perma, but it all still appears to work out.

Keep in mind I just woke up, but here is my attempt at making a humie only

With spiritual or that other thing that boosts def while giving end mod and rech you should have soft capped S/L and also have enough rech to more than perma your Light Form:

Two Headed Boy and Scirocco could you post your builds. I have a PB that has capped our resistance and everything Perma but no defense. Im not good at building defenses...with toons that dont have some already..
