Quote:Ditto. I've done the same thing for several years, here and elsewhere, including always referring to my significant other as 'spouse' instead of wife/hubby. It just seems to make things simpler...This is why I never make any reference to my gender, race, or age in forums. I like the notion that my posts can be judged solely on the merit of my ideas.
I've been addressed as both genders (and one, of course, is wrong), but I just respond as if gender was never brought up. Never have had any issues. -

Very likely, but as a standalone game, it really should have *more* than the MMO does. By more I mean things like more environmental interaction (such as being able to pick up things to throw or use as weapons, be able to climb walls, destroy certain things), and character customization should be amped up to eleven (oodles of costumes and mods, stances, etc).
There's a standalone sandbox-type game with superpowers, called 'Awakened' I think, in development (at least it was) that I can't wait to get. Has a decent preview video (google it). -
Not at this point. I was experiencing a little burnout already and was contemplating taking a break from the game. I wasn't going to unsub because I still have a lot of attachment to about 6 characters I've pushed to 50, IOd and Fully Incarnated. I figured I'd get on every once in a while and do something with them (if only to move them somewhere for a new day job badge).
So, when this news hit, it sort of made my decision for me. It still saddens me that I may lose access to those characters that I spent so much time with and gave me so much fun and inspiration, but really, they were the only reason I was going to stay subbed, so if I did lose them, I would not likely start over.
However... If, during the interim, they gave COH a serious revamp and overall (essentially, made it a COH2), then sure I'd probably be willing to start over. -

While I'm glad Lightform got changed (I hate not seeing my character), it's very good that they added this option for those who preferred being a ball of energy.
This is really something that should have been mentioned
We can't say that Khelds have been completely ignored when it comes to customization now, but I still want my golden-light PB -
Quote:Same here. My thugs MM has two personal attacks 4-slotted, but I slotted them only with Procs. Still not the greatest damage, but at least it ignores their awful damage mod. And often enough, 2 or 3 of the procs go off at once. Then it's pretty good.I'm the poor sod who keeps taking and slotting and using these attacks, and I always feel like a fool when I do it. But God damn it! I want my commander to be able to fire a rifle and thugonomics graduate to be able to pop caps in people's *****!
Which is to say I'm biassed - I take these attacks, and I just want them to stop sucking.
-
I was wondering about that...
I imagine *LOTS* of folks want to pair Dual Pistols with Martial Combat, including me (likely my first blaster to get past lvl 12).
But... the pistols redrawing every time I kick something might be enough to make me not bother - it is that big a deal... -
"Maybe if we gave it the option of two teammates..."
"No, Super Strength Handclap would still suck." -
This has been requested many times...
The general consensus is the the monumental amount of code changes needed makes it un-feasable. -
Quote:--Not too serious counterpoint--It is my firm belief that unless you know the workflow, hours, billing, planning, stages and working team of Paragon Studios and their content creation, you don't have the right to say things like "YOU'RE NOT GIVING US ENOUGH" or "NOTHING NEW? WHAT IS GOING ON, COME ON DEVS."
The devs are hard working people who bust their ***** to get us new stuff every month. Unless you can do better than they're doing now, get off your high horse and be patient like the rest of us.
It cuts both ways. Unless you know the workflow, hours, billing, planning, stages and working team of Paragon Studios and their content creation, you don't really know how much they're busting their *****. Heck, they could be eating donuts and watching internet porn for half of each workday, far as we know...
Personally, I do think they work very hard, so I am patient. -
Is there something wrong with just saying who you think it *might* supposed to be...?
Based on the outline of the head (tight hair, prominent ears) I thought, 'Is that supposed to be Barrack Obama?". History repeating itself...? Personally I think the movie-makers intended some of us to notice and think that, but of course can't prove it. -
Quote:Personally, instead of Slow Resist, I think HEATs should get a straight 5% recharge increase when other EATs are on the team. The most you could get with a team of all HEATS is a 35% Recharge Bonus, which isn't overpowering, considering the collosal recharge bonuses a single toon can get these days. You may not notice it much on a peacebringer, but I can guarantee you that Warshades eat up every bit of slow resist they can find. -Recharge will murder a 'shade, since every survival power of theirs benefits from +recharge. Eclipse, Stygian Circle, even Stygian Return.
I don't think your changes are bad, I'm just not sure everyone would want the change. -
Yes, this is a Game-Changer. It has changed how I play the game with my PB. I actually use Solar Flare when teaming now
-
Quote:I'm not denying all that can be done, but often (esp. on a high end team) you're not doing any of that for any strategic reason - you're doing it so as not to overly annoy the rest of the team. And for some PBs (raises hand) you do so you don't have to chase your own scattered spawns so much.Sure they can just hover over them and KB turns into KD, I do it on my PB all the time. In terms of Solar Flare you can use the toe tap so you can at least direct them. It's not a style that is desired or comfortable for all PB users but it is highly effective none the less.
-
Quote:I tend to be on teams where that tactic isn't needed (which I'd say is 90% of high-end teams). You know KB can be used to push things TOWARDS melee toons right?
In the 7 years I have played I think I have ran into people who don't know how to use KB effectively 2-3 times. I have no clue where you people play that KB is such a horrendous issue, but am thankful I am not on your teams. I have found most players who take powers with KB actually know how to use them.
I play a Human Only PB that's tougher than most Melee toons. She wants to be right in there in the middle with all those Melee toons where she can leverage her most powerful attacks; not skirting the edges like a squishy. But her AoEs cannot be used right there in the thick of things because...
I'll let you guess. -
I tend to find it much easier to kill something when I can actually damage it, which is much easier to do when it's close to me.
-
While Teaming in the High-End Game, learning to use KB Properly = learning how to only damage less that half the foes you could normally be damaging with your PBAoEs.
KB has *some* use for the low end game as a survival tool, esp. when soloing.
As for me, the -KB Proc is a Godsend!
My attitude towards KB lovers who also don't won't me to be able to stop my own KB is similar to Ron White's attitude towards Vegetarians.
Ron White: "If you're here to tonight and you're a vegetarian...Shut Up! I didn't claw my way to the top of the food chain to eat carrots." -
Well, I was unable to put one of the Event IOs in the market, nor did I see any for sell there.
Is this WAI? -

Now why I don't like my number 1 is not because he is popular or anything like that I hated him when I first saw him plain and simple. And since we don't get much comics in my neighbourhood and there was no internet at those times I never knew he was one of most popular guys and was quiet shocked when I heard it. Than I realise humanity's attraction to crap characters and products in general now nothing shocks me anymore.
I don't get why more people like Taylor Swift than Mozart, but I know that I'm the one being poor company if I run them down for it. -
Well, everybody has no regrets. Cool...
There's a part of me that wants to be a Saint; to actively seek out and help those less fortunate than me. Yet I have so many hobbies: Hiking, Canoeing, Singing and Playing Piano, Reading and Writing, and Gaming... I sometimes feel I'm too self-serving and I have wondered if I'll regret that when I'm older.
I see nothing wrong with any hobby, but too many, or too much of one, I dunno...
Still, it's a conscious decision on my part... What would my alignment in DnD be I wonder? True Neutral? -
Yeah, S/L Defense is the way to go. You have tons of Mule Powers for Kinetic Combats (mine uses Brawl, Boxing, Kick, and the Two White Dwarf ST Attacks), and with Combat Jump, Weave, Maneuvers, a Steadfast Protection +3 Def you'll have serious S/L Defense (throw in a Gladiators +3 Def if you can afford it). Also, since Solar Flare can be done in the Air now, I have Combat Flight on while Fighting for even more Defense.
So, my PB has around 41% S/L Defense and Perma Lightform - nigh Unkillable indeed -
Hehe, I know you said not as a Mule, but I thought it interesting that my PB has 5 powers that she never actually uses slotted with Kinetic Combats: two of these are Boxing and Kick, Brawl is another, along with the Two ST Attacks in White Dwarf. These slots are available because she has Perma Lightform and doesn't use any of her innate Resistance Shields. She's tougher than any of my Scrappers or Brutes; only my Inv Tanker gives her a run.

Quote:That's really cool - thanks ArcanaAs long as your second account doesn't literally quit the task force, you can log it out (and quit the entire game client if you want) and your first account can solo the task force to completion.
Theoretically speaking if your PC can launch eight game clients, even if they don't run well at all, it only needs to run them for long enough for you to start the task force, and then you can log them all out and terminate those game clients, leaving one client running to solo a task force that requires eight players to start. You don't need fillers at all (although you do need to level alts in those free accounts to a high enough level to meet the minimums of the task force, and there are task forces and trials that require multiple players to take simultaneous action: those are much harder to multibox for obvious reasons).
I'm a little scared to try 8 instances though. I *think* my machine might be able to handle it - but it might also blow up in my face. I'll try the volunteer route, bribing them if I have to -
Well, this thread intrigued me so I went and made a single freebie account, made a character, went to mercy, and then started a 2nd instance with my ViP account, took one of my Incarnates to meet him, and teamed with him. Got him to lvl 18 in an hour just doing radios...
First time I ever did dual-instanced, so it had that newbie coolness factor, but it sure is clunky. Can't see why people want to do it it a lot.
Did get me to wondering though, about soloing TFs. If I get a TF started, padding with volunteers who then quit, and I have my free account as the one non-quitter, do I have to leave that Instance running, or can I end it, and as long as that Character doesn't actually quit the TF I can still run it solo?
I have a pretty high end machine but it still feels like it's pulling alot of juice when running two CoH instances so I'd rather not.
